Tacha Sparks Debate After Comparing Prejudice Among Nigerians to Racism Abroad

Natasha Akide, better known by her stage name Tacha, is a reality TV star and beauty influencer who has caused controversy on social media by asserting that prejudice against Nigerians is on par with racism.

Her comments on Tuesday were a response to the online criticism directed at Tunde Onakoya, whose recent post generated conflicting responses on X.

“I simply laugh when I hear Nigerians discuss racism.” Because we are among the most segregating and prejudiced people in history.

Tacha added, “Yes, I have encountered prejudice, but what Nigerians do to one another on this app on a daily basis is much worse. And to be honest, we would certainly do worse if we were in their shoes.”

Onakoya shared a video of himself playing chess in a traditional agbada in the open plaza outside the Louvre Museum on April 19–20, 2026, which sparked the uproar.

As the “first Nigerian to play chess at the Louvre,” he framed it as a cultural accomplishment and described it as a momentous occasion.

While a lot of Nigerians cheered the symbolism of presenting culture on a worldwide scale, others questioned the assertion, pointing out that the venue is a public area outside the museum that is open to everyone, there are no official records to confirm such a “first,” and the act seemed more casual than organized or historic.

Speaking out, Tacha commended Onakoya’s reaction to the criticism, noting that he had previously faced intense online attacks.

“To be honest, I love the way Tunde has handled this whole situation because clearly this is not the first time they are coming at him.

“They attacked this guy to the point where he had to leave this app, but not anymore. And it is good that he is standing for himself,” she said.

She went further to criticise social media users she described as habitual trolls.

According to her, such individuals often react negatively when confronted with visible success.

She added, “So they hate and get bitter when they see people succeeding and making a positive impact on the real world.”

Ubi Franklin Warns of Legal Action Over Alleged Cyberbullying Against Davido and Chioma Adeleke

Ubi Franklin, a music businessman, has issued a warning that those suspected of being involved in concerted internet attacks against artist Davido, his wife Chioma Adeleke, and members of the Adeleke family may face legal action.

In a series of posts on X on Tuesday, Franklin, the self-described manager of Chioma, implied that law authorities will soon take action against those responsible for what he called organized abuse and trolling.

“You are aware that individuals are wicked, correct? He wrote, “The message I see on this group chat is just,” alluding to offensive material purportedly sent at the pair in private discussions.

In a follow-up post, he issued a stronger warning: “One after the other, you will explain to the law enforcement what Chef Chi has done to all of you. Just keep opening groups to bully her.

“Her husband, me as her manager, and the entire family have your time now, and we will follow the rules, and you will be served.”

Franklin’s comments point to what he claims is a pattern of organised cyberbullying, allegedly carried out through multiple group chats and online communities.
He claims that the attacks involve persistent and deliberate attempts to harass Chioma, also referred to as Chef Chi, and those in her immediate vicinity, going beyond simple criticism.

Additionally, he called the behavior “outright bullying” and urged onlookers to call it that instead of writing it off as standard criticism of celebrities.

Chioma has frequently been at the centre of online scrutiny, largely due to her high-profile relationship with Davido.

Discussions about her on social media often include criticism of her fashion and public appearances, commentary on her lifestyle and brand as a celebrity chef, spillover from fan rivalries involving Davido and other artists, and renewed attention tied to Davido’s past personal controversies.

Mr P Fires Back at Critics Over Birthday Date Change, Says It’s My Life, Not Yours

Peter Okoye, also known as Mr. P, is a Nigerian musician and one-half of the now-defunct P-Square duet. He has responded to critics who have questioned his decision to shift the date of his birthday celebration, claiming the outcry is unfounded.

His response comes just one day after he declared that he would celebrate his birthday on November 30 instead of November 18.

“I’m formally announcing it. I no longer celebrate my birthday on November 18. Please be aware that on that day, I will not be taking gifts or messages. November 30th will now be my birthday. He had previously stated, “This is a personal decision.”

In a post shared on Tuesday via his X handle, the former member of P-Square expressed surprise at the level of backlash trailing what he described as a personal choice.

He wrote, “Una dey vex like say I cancel Christmas? Na my birthday date I move… no be your own, why e dey pain you.?”

The singer, popularly known as Mr P, went further to mock the reactions, drawing a comparison with long-standing debates around the date of Jesus Christ’s birth.

He added, “Even Jesus Christ December 25th date sef, people still dey debate am. Why cry more than the bereaved? Only in Nigeria.” He also suggested that the attention given to the issue was disproportionate compared with more pressing national concerns.

“Funny how my birthday date shift is causing more pain than Nigeria’s real problems,” he wrote, adding, “Insult no dey reduce success. Who don make am, don make am! Know that and know peace.

”Peter and his twin brother became well-known, Paul Okoye, as part of P-Square, one of Africa’s most successful music duos in the 2000s and early 2010s.

However, the group’s journey has been marked by repeated cycles of splits and reconciliations. Their first major fallout, which became public around 2015, centred on management disputes involving their elder brother, Jude Okoye, as well as issues of royalties and creative control.

The duo eventually disbanded in 2017, with both artistes pursuing solo careers, Peter as Mr P and Paul as Rudeboy.

The brothers got back together in 2021 after being apart for almost five years. a development that was widely celebrated by fans. They released new music and performed together, although reports later suggested that underlying disagreements persisted.

Subsequent tensions resurfaced around financial transparency and catalogue management, leading to fresh public exchanges and legal proceedings involving members of the Okoye family.

Celebrity Crime D4vd Pleads Not Guilty in Murder Case Of 14-Year-Old Girl as Court Battle Begins

In connection with the killing of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose remains were found months after she vanished, US singer D4vd has entered a not guilty plea to first-degree murder.

The 21-year-old musician, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, is also accused of murder for financial gain and allegedly killing a witness connected to an investigation, according to the BBC on Tuesday.

Burke’s attorneys entered the plea on his behalf during his arraignment on Monday in a Los Angeles court, so he remained silent.

His defence team insisted that “the actual evidence will show that David did not kill Celeste,” adding, “we will vigorously defend David’s innocence.”

Prosecutors alleged that the teenager visited Burke’s Hollywood Hills residence on April 23, 2025, and “she was never heard from again,” according to Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman.

Later, her decayed remains were found on September 8 in the front trunk of a Tesla linked to the singer, marking a major breakthrough in the case.

Hochman called the event tragic, stating, “a parent’s nightmare is a situation where your daughter goes out one night and never comes back,” while outlining charges that include special circumstances such as lying in wait, financial motive and silencing a potential witness.

The victim’s family, in a statement, said they were “committed to ensuring that Celeste’s voice is heard and her memory is honoured throughout this process.”

Police also defended the pace of the investigation, with Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell stating, “My duty is not to fuel speculation. It’s to deliver justice,” adding that investigators had to ensure nothing would “jeopardise this case.”

Burke is still being held without being granted bail, as prosecutors say the case could potentially attract the death penalty if he is convicted.

Death Trap on Wheels: FRSC Stops Overloaded Bus Carrying Passengers on Goods in Bauchi

Along the Bauchi–Kari route in the Darazo Unit Command, a dangerously overloaded vehicle carrying passengers seated on top of heaped goods was stopped by the Federal Road Safety Corps, zone 12, Bauchi.

This was announced in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja by Mr. Osondu Ohaeri, the Corps Public Education Officer.

The car was in flagrant violation of safety laws, according to Ohaeri, who called the behavior a reckless hazard of human lives.

He said that the development represented a grave safety breach, as the passengers were completely exposed to fatal risks in the event of a crash, sudden braking or loss of control.

According to him, overloading goes beyond a mere traffic offence and constitutes a life-threatening decision with potential fatal consequences.

“Overloading puts passengers and other road users in grave danger, increases stopping distance, and compromises vehicle stability.”

The CPEO warned that no journey was worth the sacrifice of human life, emphasizing that such actions greatly increased the danger of traffic accidents and fatalities.

He insisted that people should never be treated like cargo and asked drivers and automobile owners to rigorously adhere to the loading limits.

Ohaeri reiterated the corps’ commitment to stepping up enforcement of traffic laws and guaranteeing the security of all drivers across the country.

Naira’s Winning Streak, Why Dollar Is Quietly Losing Its Grip This April

On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, the Nigerian Naira continued to gain ground in the foreign exchange market as trading began with an emphasis on reducing the difference between official and informal values. The local currency continues to benefit from consistent control within the official window and a balanced supply of foreign money after a comparatively stable start to the week.

During early morning operations, the Naira was quoted at an average rate of 1345.47 per dollar on the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM). This reflects a marginal appreciation compared to the closing figures of the previous session. Market data indicates that the Naira touched a brief high of 1345.87 before settling, as interbank turnover remains healthy.

The continued stability in the official window is largely credited to the Central Bank’s ongoing commitment to a transparent price discovery process and sufficient liquidity for eligible transactions.

This comparatively quiet tendency has been reflected in the parallel market. Major trading centers in Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Kano, the Dollar is being exchanged at rates ranging between 1390 and 1405 per Dollar. While the black market still carries a premium, the volatility that once characterized this segment has notably subsided, providing a more predictable environment for retail buyers and small-scale importers who rely on informal channels.

According to financial analysts, higher dollar inflows from foreign portfolio investors and favorable perceptions of Nigeria’s external reserves are the causes of the present market behavior. Monetary authorities continue to prioritize rate convergence, and the market appears to be heading toward a more cohesive structure based on current performance.

Today’s rates suggest a prolonged period of consolidation for the general population and corporate community. While the global strengthening of the U.S. Dollar remains a factor to watch, the local market’s ability to absorb demand without significant spikes provides a layer of confidence for economic planning as the third week of April unfolds.

Why I pay my tithe to street, not church – Zubby Michael

Nollywood actor Zubby Michael has revealed that he recently donated ₦10.2 million to people on the streets, describing it as his form of tithe.

Speaking in an interview, the actor explained that the amount represents 10 percent of ₦102 million he earned from  movie roles in a short period.

He noted that instead of paying tithe to a church, he prefers to give directly to those in need.

“I donated N10.2 million, which is 10 per cent of the money to the needy on the street.

“I only got my money back after I mentioned CCTV,” man recounts incident with cleaner’s daughter

A man has narrated how a routine cleaning day turned into an uncomfortable situation after his house cleaner brought along her 16-year-old daughter to assist for the first time.

Teen brought along to assist ends up in theft allegation

The incident, which he shared online, happened shortly after he returned from a trip and discovered that over ₦30,000 he had left in his bedroom was missing. Suspicion fell on those who had access to the room, leading to a confrontation.

I had more than ₦30,000 in my room before I travelled. When I came back, the money was gone. I asked the girl, she said she didn’t see anything. It was when I mentioned that I had a camera in the room and would check it that she broke down, admitted she took it, apologised, and brought the money out from where she hid it in her clothes,” he said.

Cleaner’s one-year record overshadowed by daughter’s action

The man explained that the girl’s mother had worked with him for over a year without any issue, making the situation even more difficult to handle. According to him, nothing had ever gone missing in his home before this incident.

Her mum has been working for me for over a year and I’ve never had any problem with her. She has been crying and begging since it happened, and honestly I feel bad, but I can’t continue with her anymore. This will be the last time she works in my house,” he added.
