I Was Under Wizkid’s Shadow At EME – Skales

Nigerian artiste, John Njeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, has recounted how he was always compared to his colleagues and constantly trolled while he was at Empire Mates Entertainment, EME.

He said he was being pressurised because he was under the shadow of two of the biggest artistes at that time; Banky W and Wizkid.

He recalled that trolls even compared him to N200 on Twitter because he wasn’t doing well at that time.

The ‘Shake Body’ crooner disclosed this in a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo.

Skales said, “I will go on Twitter, people were comparing me to N200. Of course, I was under the shadow of two of the biggest artistes at that time [Banky W and Wizkid]. So, you know the pressure mehn. I had to come through.

“Some times, I will release music, I will go to YouTube or some random sites, I will see like the first five comments na insults. I will just not want to read the comments again. And I will just be feeling bad not knowing that there is people that think what you just did is the most amazing thing they’ve heard so far.”

I Pray Before Performing On Stage – Davido

Superstar Nigerian singer, Davido, has disclosed that before every performance on stage, he makes sure to pray.

The singer covered the latest issue of Forbes’ Afrobeats All-Star; Pioneering The New Global Sound.

He said he learned a lot from his dad, Chief Adedeji Adeleke, stressing that he is humble, principled and a staunch Christian.

The ‘Risky’ crooner said he inherited his father’s steadfastness in prayers.

He said, “I learned so much from being around my dad, watching him in the office, hearing him on the phone, seeing how he handled life. He’s very humble, principled and a strong Christian. Before I step on any stage, my team knows not to mess with my prayers.”

Davido said he initially hid his music career from his family because the norm was to go to school, graduate and then work for his dad.

He added that his career has been so blessed, stressing that his reason for signing artists was not to make money from them but to see them grow and be part of their successes.

Legendary Afrobeats singer, Davido Adeleke gets excited as he appears on the cover of the popular magazine, Forbes.

The DMW boss who got featured on the business magazine excitedly took to his Instagram page to share a photo of the cover.

The magazine described the ‘Ober Dem’ singer as a ‘Music Mogul’ and Afrobeats all star pioneering the new global sound.

Thanking the Forbes team for the iconic feature, Davido Adeleke described himself as a godfather.

He wrote:

“Emi n’ikan I be godfather oh! Thank you to the amazing @forbes team. Had fun doing this! Feature out now”

Don Jazzy Surprises Student, Gifts Him N500,000

Don Jazzy, the popular Nigerian music producer, has stunned one of his fans who happens to be a student.

He gave a cash gift of N500,000 to the student who approached him about his school problems.

The student had sent a message to Mavin Records’ CEO, explaining how difficult school had gotten and how they were feeling overwhelmed by the issues they were encountering.

The unnamed pupil had expressed the need for Don Jazzy to give them a “big hug” because they were near their breaking point.

The student wrote; ‘“Currently going through it at school. I’m almost at my breaking point with literally everything. I need a big hug.”

Don Jazzy responded by expressing his sympathies and commiserating with the pupil. Then he inquired as to whether a payment of N500,000 would be adequate for a virtual “hug” from him.

He also told the student that if he thought the payment was fair, he should provide their bank details.

According to Bobrisky, he’s now officially a woman and advised all and sundry to take note of this.

How one call from Olamide changed my life – Skales recounts

Nigerian musician, Skales has shared how his senior colleague, Olamide rescued him financially after he left Empire Mates Entertainment (EME).

Skales revealed in a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo that he became homeless and broke after EME refused to renew his contract due to the label’s inability to make profits from him.

He said Olamide called him and asked if he wasn’t going to shoot a video for his song ‘Shake Body.’

Skales however, replied that he was broke and homeless. Olamide sent him money for the video shoot, after which the song became a success.

He said: “My deal with them was done and they refused to continue because I wasn’t doing well at that time.

“Olamide contacted me and said he loved one of my songs, Shake Body, and asked if I wasn’t going to shoot the video. I told him I was homeless and couldn’t possibly shoot a video and he sent me money. My God turned my life around after that video shoot”

I Was A Dancer, Poverty Made Me Become A Singer – Asake Confesses

Ahmed Oloade, the Nigerian singer, who is popularly known as Asake has made a new revelation.

He revealed that poverty made him consider a career in music.

The 24-year-old said he was originally a dancer but added singing because dancing couldn’t fetch him enough money.

“At the end of the day, I feel like I can actually sing. Then I added music to it. Maybe because I know how to dance then I know how to bounce on music. I actually don’t want to be a musician in the first place. I just wanted to dance. It feels like water. I love everything that comes with dancing.

“But at the end of the day, after dancing I fell in love with having money too. Then I started thinking about it, is dance going to give me the kind of money I want?”

Olamilekan Agbeleshebioba, a former Big Brother Naija reality show winner, who is popularly known as Laycon has added a feather to his cap.

He bagged a Master’s degree from an international university.

The rapper recently graduated with a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Portsmouth, United Kingdom.

He revealed this on his Twitter page on Friday.

He urged his fans to follow their dreams and never give up.

The reality star disclosed he used 18 months to achieve the rare feat.

“For the past 18 months, I’ve been chasing one of my dreams and I’m happy to say I have successfully completed my MA degree in International Relations from the University of Portsmouth,” Laycon tweeted.

He added that he is now looking forward to the next project.
