Daniel Regha, the controversial social media commentator, has made another controversial claim about Burna Boy.
Regha suggested that co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates, has confirmed his stance about musical superstar, Burna Boy being an upcoming artiste.
Last month, Regha in an interview with former BBNaija housemate, Doyinsola David referred to Burna Boy as an upcoming artiste, in comparison to Davido, Olamide and Wizkid.
Recently, Bill Gates, during a forum with students and young innovators from Nigeria and across Africa, shared he was ‘forced’ to look up two Afrobeats stars, Burna Boy and Rema following his daughter’s excitement about them.
He acknowledged Davido and Wizkid, stating ‘the last time he was in Nigeria, he did get to see them perform and was quite impressed with their performance’.
This prompted Regha’s remark where he reinforced his stance about Burna Boy being a new cat just like Davido had also mentioned during a recent interview.
O.B.O claimed he championed the spread of Afrobeats globally along with Wizkid and expressed joy at seeing the likes of Burna Boy, Rema, Asake, Fireboy DML, Mayorkun and others who he dubbed as ‘new cats’ ‘coming in and killing it’.
Following Gates comments on the Afrobeats superstars, Regha chided individuals who criticised Davido, Timaya and him for calling Burna an upcomer in the Nigerian music scene.
“When I said that Burna is still an upcomer despite his popularity, people called me crazy. Davido & Timaya were also insulted for implying the same; But all of a sudden Burna’s upcomer status has become facts cos of Bill Gates? Lolz. Y’all should keep deceiving yourselves,” he tweeted.
Award-winning American singer/songwriter, Beyoncé Knowles, who is also known for her philanthropy has donated £8,000 to a struggling Nigerian restaurant in North London, which was at risk of closure due to rising energy bills.
Chuku’s, a Nigerian tapas restaurant in Tottenham run by brother and sister duo Emeka and Ifeyinwa Frederik, were one of 10 winners to receive a grant from the music superstar, 41, this month.
As part of her Renaissance World Tour, the Halo hitmaker’s foundation BeyGOOD had pledged to donate a share of $1 million (£806,000) to ten businesses in cities around the world.
Chuku’s found themselves facing difficult times after launching during the pandemic including struggling with the cost of rising energy bills.
Luckily for the siblings, they have now been given an extra boost by Beyonce’s foundation, with the grant awarded during the Black Parade Small Business Impact Luncheon, created by BeyGOOD to ‘celebrate people, communities, and small businesses impacted by economic inequities worldwide’.
Chuku co-founder Emeka said of the win: ‘This grant couldn’t be more welcome. Chuku’s, like other restaurants that don’t have a financial reserve, has been battered by lockdowns and the cost of living crisis.
‘Every day, we’re fighting to stay open to make it to our fourth birthday.’’ he said
‘’This money will make that fight a little easier and allow us to continue celebrating Nigerian culture on Tottenham’s High Road for the time being.‘
While his sister Ifeyinwa added: ‘I still can’t quite believe that Beyoncé has backed our restaurant – it feels a bit surreal.

“I will not quarel with you because of a guy and I told you that my strategy is to be a player,” Amaka said to Diana.
Diana inferred: “Giddyfia and Amaka are age mates.”
Giddyfia rebutted: “We no be age mates.”
