BREAKING: Supreme Court Dismisses Atiku’s Fresh Evidence, Says It’s Friendly Joke

The application by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to admit fresh evidence in his appeal against President Bola Tinubu, has been dismisses by the Supreme Court.

The application was dismissed for lack of jurisdiction.

The apex court said Atiku’s petition was a friendly joke. It insisted that the petition could not be granted.

It had been reported that Atiku had sought the leave of the apex court to present fresh evidence of forgery against Tinubu.

He pleaded with the court to look into the matter because of its constitutional and democratic implications.

The fresh evidence Atiku sought to tender was the academic records of Tinubu, which were handed over to him by the Chicago State University (CSU) on October 2.The former Vice President had informed the court that the fresh evidence was crucial to his appeal, adding that it has inherent jurisdiction to entertain and decide on the application.

However, the Supreme Court said it has no jurisdiction to entertain the fresh evidence as the time limit allowed by the constitution has elapsed.

At the time of filing this report, the judgment was still ongoing.

Failure Of IREV Does Not Stop Collation Of Results – Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has held that non-availability of election results on the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) is no ground for the nullification of the February 2023 presidential election.
The apex court gave the ruling on Thursday.
Justice Inyang Okoro, leader of the five-panel of Supreme Court justices, gave the ruling in the appeals filed by Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), challenging the Presidential Elections Petitions Court (PEPC) which upheld Bola Tinubu’s February win.
He said it is clear that the petition seeking to nullify the election for noncompliance must not only be ready to prove how the non-compliance affected the outcome election but must be ready to give evidence.
According to him, the petitioner abandoned the duties imposed on them to prove the gravity of noncompliance and its effect.
Justice Okoro said the Electoral Act empowers the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to determine the best method to use during an election.
He added that the unavailability of results on the IReV, cannot be a ground to nullify the the election.
Justice Okoro says the petitioner needed to lay credible evidence to prove the alleged noncompliance. According to him, he has not produced an original or certified true copy of the evidence they want the court to rely on.
He held that the non-availability of the presidential election results on the IReV Portal did not affect the outcome of the election

Peter Obi’s Appeal Dismissed By The Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal filed by Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party.

According to the apex court, the appeal lacks merit.

The seven-man panel led by Justice Inyang Okoro held that the appeal lacked merit and “is hereby dismissed”.

Obi, in his notice of appeal, implored the highest court to overturn the PEPT’s September 6 decision, which upheld President Tinubu’s victory.

But the panel in a unanimous judgment on Thursday held that the appeal lacked merit and ought to be dismissed.

Giving ruling, the Supreme Court said:

“Double nomination ought not to have come to this Court. The Court cannot sit and begin to explain when this man resigned and when there was a fresh Primary.

There is an end to litigation. The issue of double nomination was rested in May.

All other grounds were dealt with in the Atiku’s appeal and apply to this mutantis mutandis.

This appeal lacks merit.”

I Once Considered Converting To Islam – Omah Lay

Famous singer Stanley Omah Didia, aka Omah Lay has opened up that he once thought of converting to Islam.

According to him, he contemplated converting to Islam at some point despite being born into a Christian home.

Omah Lay further stated that he doesn’t care about religion anymore.

He, however, said he believes in the existence of God.

Speaking in a recent interview with media personality Wunmi Bello, Omah Lay said, “As soon as I made money, I just switched; I just believed in God and became more human than religious. I don’t just enjoy religion anymore.

“I grew up in a Christian home. I spent a lot of time in church. And at some point, I was going to convert to Islam. But now I’m at the point where it’s just me and God. Not religion. Because I really don’t know anything about religion. That’s the problem. These holy books and what everybody is saying, I know it sounds true but these are just books that I can not find evidence that this was written by God or his servants.

“So, I just feel like I don’t know anything in as much as I know the bible, Jesus and Allah. But at the end, I don’t have evidence. The only evidence I have is that there’s a God who is moving me. I know that there must be something that’s somewhere that’s in charge of this whole thing. I believe it’s God.”
