After finally entering the market in years, Doyin of BBNaija claims that people are suffering in Nigeria.

Doyin, a former housemate on Big Brother Naija, talked about her first-ever market visit in years.

She revealed that she had been disconnected from reality and that she finally realized this after visiting Lagos’ well-known Ogba market.

Seeing how much hardship there is in Nigeria, she thanked God for her privileges.

According to her

I realized today for the first time how detached from reality I am…..people are suffering!!!!

If you can afford food, accommodation and your basic needs you don’t even know what God has done for you.

Today has to be the day I’ve felt the most grateful to God for the life I have.

Yes I visited ogba market and a place called Sunday market. All I could say last night was just thank you Jesus. Sometimes it’s good to visit places outside your comfort zone.

I’ve never gone to the food market to buy even something as small as pepper in my entire adult life. I must have followed my mum once or twice as a child but I don’t even remember the experience

Yesterday was really eye opening for me.

It’s funny how I don’t even know how much they sell pepper or tomatoes or chicken or Turkey or anything at all. There is a whole world outside what I know or what I’m used to.

I realized I’ve been a brat for the most part of my life. I get frustrated when I don’t get my way over frivolous things when there are people that can’t even feed.

If you really want to know how privileged you are, visit the less privileged and you learn to be more grateful.”

The Reason I Divorced My Spouse – Blessing CEO

The controversial self-described relationship guru Blessing Okoro, often known as Blessing CEO, has discussed her unhappy marriage.

She said that rather than adultery, the reason she left her marriage was domestic abuse.

She claims that infidelity is insufficient justification for a divorce.

In the first episode of her television program, Moments With Blessing CEO, she made a statement.

“My husband is not a cheater; I left my marriage because of domestic abuse,” the woman stated. Women occasionally have to acknowledge that we are the issue.

“Cheating shouldn’t make you leave your marriage; keep it a secret if your husband is cheating, just like you would with a DNA test,” the CEO of Blessing continued.

Killer Herdsmen Out: I’m Back to Chase – Sunday Igboho Warns

Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, is a Yoruba nation activist who has declared that he is returning to Yorubaland to pursue killer herdsmen.

In a video that went viral on Tuesday, he made these remarks to a group of supporters after his mother’s funeral in his hometown of the Igboho area of Oyo State.

The Yoruba-speaking activist claimed that neither the federal government nor the army stationed in Yorubaland—particularly in Ekiti, where kings were assassinated in broad daylight—could bring an end to the alleged murderers.

“I want you all to stand with me so that we can free ourselves from the encroaching herders on our lands,” he declared. If we don’t establish security throughout the Yoruba territories, they will seize our territory.

“We don’t need to hold out for the authorities or anybody else. Just let’s get to work together. These herders are the reason we are unable to farm on our grounds. And our people are outraged and going hungry. The soldiers that the government says it has sent to Ekiti State are not necessary. We operate in line with our Elders and mount places.

“My fear used to be my mother, but now that she’s gone, I don’t have anything to fear.” I’m returning now to reclaim our territory.

The activist from Ibadan questioned whether he could be working for politicians and whether they would still want him dead, while criticizing the rumour that he was employed by them.

“I work for no political party. If I happened to smack someone, the authorities would be more than happy to take me into custody. I’m prepared to act to put an end to these marauders’ operations on our territory, but I know they are attentively observing me right now to see what I will do next,” he insisted.

Adeyemo managed to flee from a deadly Department of State Service nighttime raid on his Ibadan home, according to a 2021 PUNCH article.

He and his spouse, Ropo, were subsequently taken into custody in the Benin Republic on July 19, while traveling to Germany. That being said, in October 2023, he was liberated.

The liberation soldier just got back to Nigeria in time for his mother’s funeral.

Igboho said there was an attempt on his life when his Ibadan home was raided.

FIVE NIGERIA MYTHS THAT SHOULD BE PASSED ON TO THE NEXT GENERATION

In a typical Nigerian home, there are stories our parents told that have lived with us through time and have been passed on from generation to generation and would likely still be passed on to the next generation.

Myths are told to scare or make one believe a particular thing does exist. Sometimes, it is told to make the recipient get something done or obey an order.

As much as there are weird myths, we can not fully conclude they contain no iota of truth.

The realization that all these myths are not so true came as we grew older, but deep down we know these myths would likely be passed onto our children.

Here are a few of these myths worthy to be passed on to the next generation;

1. A GIRL WILL GET PREGNANT IF A BOY TOUCHES HER.

At times, you would hear a young girl even a teenage girl saying; “don’t touch me o, my mum said I will get pregnant if I allow boys to touch me”

While growing up, we all were told this, and it instilled fear of unwanted pregnancy in both boys and girls as they already know the consequences of getting pregnant at an early age.

By now, we understood that this myth meant well as it was simply to make both boys and girls steer clear of immoral acts.

It is, however, one of the myths that should be passed on to the next generation as it easily passes across a message that cannot be said with actual words and a subtle way of educating young ones on ‘unwanted pregnancy’ early.

2. EATING WHILE STANDING MAKES THE FOOD STAY ON YOUR LEGS.

This particular myth automatically means once you eat while standing and the food stays in your leg, you will possibly experience hunger again, and in a typical Nigerian home, there is no food after you’ve just finished one.

This belief has made most kids heed the warning the myth passes across.

Eating while standing is a bad eating posture as it can also lead to discomfort from bloating, to cramps and gas.

This myth is one of those that should be passed on to the next generation.

3. ONLY SPIRITS SLEEP WITH THEIR LEGS ON THE WALL

As untrue as this might sound, it worked wonders in the sleeping posture of most of us especially when we were young as no one wants to be tagged a spirit.

Sleeping with the legs on the wall is considered a bad sleeping posture, one might develop an ache in the lower back.

It is undeniably one of the myths that should be passed on to the next generation.

4. SPIRITS WILL VISIT ANYONE WHO SLEEPS LATE

Some of us took this too seriously and hated sleeping late to the extent that as soon as the clouds turned dark we would have retired to bed for the fear of being taken away or visited by a spirit.

One advantage we got from this was it instilled a proper sleeping routine in us early enough.

Health-wisely, sleeping late itself is not advisable.

This myth should therefore be passed on to the next generation.

5. STARING AT THE SUN IS AN OFFENSE TO GOD

Once upon a time, starting right into the sun, a girl dared the sun to come down.

As silly as putting this into action is, we cannot deny that most of us have tried staring into the sun checking how long we can withstand its brightness.

This could probably explain why this myth came into existence.

This myth has also been of good advantage as it cautioned this act and has saved us the trouble of having to spend money on treating eye problems.

There are so many other interesting myths that have originated from Nigeria and have been passed on over time. What other myths do you know and feel should be passed on to kids as it might be of advantage to them? Let us know in the comment section.
