How My Children Received De@th Threats During #EndSARS Protests – Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde Reveals

Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, the veteran Nollywood actress and filmmaker, has recounted the harrowing experience she and her family endured during the 2020 #EndSARS protests, revealing that her children received de@th threats, which forced her to reconsider her activism.

Omotola, who has been in the spotlight for over three decades, made the revelation during an interview on Rubbin’ Minds, a current affairs programme on Channels Television, aired on Sunday.

Reflecting on the intensity of the backlash she endured, the award-winning actress described the #EndSARS period as the most threatening chapter of her public advocacy journey.

She said, “I am used to de@th threats; I have received them many times. But I have never seen anything like what happened during #EndSARS. It was intense.”

According to Omotola, the situation took a disturbing turn when her children became targets.

“My kids started getting de@th threats. That was when it became weird,” she said, visibly emotional.

She explained that her role during the protests was not limited to social media commentary.

Jalade-Ekeinde said, “I was on the streets during #EndSARS. I was doing international advocacy. I spoke with CNN, engaged with international NGOs and embassies, and I was doing a lot of work.”

The actress further revealed that the threats escalated from digital abuse to physical intrusions.

“When people started coming physically to my home and place of work to look for me, I knew I had to worry about other people and not just myself,” she said.

No One Has Been Arrested, Persecuted – Nigerian Rapper, Falz Blasts Govt Over Kwara K!llings

Folarin Falana, the popular Nigerian rapper and activist, who is better known as Falz, has slammed the Federal Government over the ay its handling the de@dly attack in Kwara State.

Falz said the country’s leaders are focused on politics while citizens are being k!lled.

In a video shared on his Instagram page on Sunday, Falz questioned why government officials and political groups are already preparing for the 2027 elections despite ongoing attacks by armed groups across the country.

He expressed anger that after the mass k!lling in Kwara, the response from authorities appeared limited to official statements without visible action.

Falz’ comment comes days after gunmen attacked Woro and Nuku villages in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The assault, which happened on February 3, 2026, left at least 162 people de@d, according to the Red Cross.

The attackers moved from house to house, k!lling residents after the communities refused to accept their demand to follow their form of Sharia law.

The attackers are believed to be linked to Boko Haram or the Islamic State-backed Lakurawa group.

Many of the victims were reportedly tied before they were shot, causing shock and outrage across the country.

President Bola Tinubu later announced the deployment of an army battalion to Kwara State under Operation Savannah Shield and condemned the attack.

However, Falz argued that such steps were not enough, pointing out that no arrests or court cases have been made public since the k!llings.

The rapper also criticised political parties for pushing ahead with campaign plans while affected communities are still mourning.

He expressed concern that politicians are appointing regional coordinators and building structures ahead of 2027, even though the Electoral Act allows campaigns to begin only months before elections.

Falz further accused some religious leaders of remaining silent on major national issues.

He spoke against their failure to speak out after the Senate rejected a proposal that would make real-time electronic transmission of election results compulsory.

According to Falz, allowing politicians to use church platforms while avoiding difficult national conversations contributes to poor leadership.

He added that relying only on prayers without action has not helped resolve Nigeria’s security problems.

He said: “I thought nearly 200 people were k!lled in Kwara. The President came out and released a statement, a normal statement, saying he was saddened. Who has been arrested? Who has been prosecuted for this? Nobody. Nothing. We just move on.”

“People are being k!lled every day, but what is the government doing? They are setting up structures for 2027 elections.”

“They have announced coordinators for the East, for the West, for the South. These same people will still go to churches, and your daddy G.O will allow them to campaign on the pulpit and convince you to vote for the same evil.”

“Your papa will not tell you that the Senate is refusing to amend the Electoral Act to allow real-time transmission of election results because they know it will stop them from rigging.”

“Papa will just tell you to sit down, wait, and pray for a spiritual solution.”

How Funke Akindele’s Mum Saved My Childrens‘ Lives – Actress Iyabo Ojo Reveals

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has recounted how Funke Akindele’s late mother once intervened to protect her children.

In an Instagram post, Iyabo Ojo spoke about the support she received years ago while raising her children, Festus and Priscilla, remembering how the doctor’s care prevented a potential tragedy.

Iyabo described the late doctor as a remarkable person whose kindness and prayers went beyond her professional role.

She recalled the reassurance and protection offered by Funke’s mother during a time of fear and uncertainty, saying her intervention ensured the safety of her children.

Iyabo also reflected on the continuous guidance and spiritual support she received from the doctor, even during disagreements, noting that she always felt her presence and prayers.

La Liga: Lookman denied on debut as Antony stun Atletico Madrid

Ademola Lookman endured a frustrating La Ligadebut as Atletico Madrid slipped to a 1-0 home defeat against Real Betis at the Wanda Metropolitano on Sunday.

The Nigerian forward, handed his first league start following a January move from Atalanta, saw an early goal ruled out for offside as Atletico failed to capitalise on their chances in a match settled by a moment of quality from Betis winger Antony.

Antony’s decisive strike arrived in the 28th minute, when the Brazilian cut inside and fired a low shot beyond Jan Oblak to give the visitors a lead they would protect for the remainder of the contest.

Disallowed goal mars Lookman’s first start

Lookman was central to Atletico’s attacking play in the opening exchanges and appeared to have marked his full league debut with a goal midway through the first half.

The Super Eagles forward finished clinically inside the area, only for VAR to rule the effort out for offside, cutting short celebrations inside the stadium.

Despite the setback, Lookman continued to offer pace, movement and direct running, frequently occupying Betis centre-backs Natan and Diego Llorente.

His positioning created space for Antoine Griezmann and Julián Álvarez, though Atletico struggled to convert territorial dominance into clear-cut chances.

Betis discipline blunts Atletico pressure

As the game progressed, Betis grew increasingly compact, limiting Lookman’s influence in advanced areas. The visitors defended in numbers and forced Atletico into wide areas, reducing the effectiveness of crosses into the box.

Goalkeeper Álvaro Vallés played a key role in preserving Betis’ lead, producing several saves in the second half as Atletico pushed for an equaliser.

Lookman, who was later substituted, was one of Simeone’s main attacking threats in the game.

The final whistle confirmed Lookman’s first league defeat in Spanish football, a sharp contrast to his positive cup showing earlier in the week.

EPL: Haaland late penalty lifts Man City past Liverpool in chaotic finish

Erling Haaland struck a stoppage-time penalty as Manchester City came from behind to beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield, breathing new life into the Premier League title race.

The dramatic win cut Arsenal’s lead at the top of the table to six points with 13 matches remaining, while City moved to second place after a rare victory on Merseyside.

Liverpool had taken the lead in the 74th minute through Dominik Szoboszlai, who curled a superb free-kick beyond Gianluigi Donnarumma after a tight and largely cagey contest.

Late goals turn the game

City responded strongly and were level six minutes from time when Bernardo Silva finished from close range after sustained pressure in the Liverpool penalty area.

The decisive moment arrived deep into stoppage time. Matheus Nunes went down under a challenge from goalkeeper Alisson inside the box, and referee Craig Pawson pointed straight to the spot.

Haaland stepped up and calmly converted in the 93rd minute, registering his 21st Premier League goal of the season.

Chaotic finale at Anfield

Liverpool almost snatched an equaliser moments later, but Donnarumma produced a fine save to deny Alexis Mac Allister.

City then thought they had scored a third when Rayan Cherki found the net from inside his own half with Alisson out of position.

However, VAR intervened and ruled the goal out after Szoboszlai was penalised and sent off for a foul on Haaland earlier in the move, with City instead awarded a free-kick.

Historic away win for City

Despite the late controversy, City held on to claim a landmark victory, their first league win at Anfield since 2021, and their first there in front of supporters since 2003.

The result keeps Guardiola’s side firmly in the title hunt, while Liverpool were left to rue a dramatic late collapse after appearing on course for a crucial home win.

Yılmaz turns provider, Osimhen finishes the job

Yılmaz turned provider in the 62nd minute, sending in a precise delivery that Yunus Akgün converted from close range to double the lead.

Osimhen put the result beyond doubt 11 minutes later. The striker collected the ball just outside the area, skipped past the goalkeeper with composure and finished into an empty net from a narrow angle to cap a dominant performance from Okan Buruk’s side.

Title push gathers momentum

The win keeps Galatasaray top of the Super Lig standings with 52 points from 21 matches. They sit six points clear of second-placed Fenerbahçe, who have a game in hand, and seven ahead of Trabzonspor in third.

Osimhen’s goal tally now stands at nine in the league this season, underlining his importance in Galatasaray’s push for a fourth consecutive Super Lig title.

The Super Eagles forward will look to add to that total when Galatasaray host Eyüpspor in their next league fixture on Friday.
