Men’s Constant Body-shaming Is What Pushed Women To Undergo BBL Procedures – Actress Nkechi Blessing Speaks (Video)

actress, has sparked online reactions after addressing how women are judged over their bodies and weighing in on the ongoing debate about cosmetic surgery.

The actress shared her thoughts in a video posted on social media, where she addressed men who now tell women to accept their natural bodies after years of criticizing them over their appearance.

She said many women have been pushed into cosmetic procedures because of constant insults and pressure from society.

According to her, the same people who mocked women for not having certain body shapes are now advising them to avoid surgery and love themselves as they are.

Nkechi Blessing said the harsh comments women receive about their bodies have played a role in the rise of procedures like the Brazilian Butt Lift, popularly known as BBL.

The mother of one explained that the pressure to meet certain beauty standards often comes from repeated criticism and expectations placed on women.

She said: “You people mocked women for years because of their bodies, but now you are the same ones telling them to love themselves the way they are. Many women went for BBL because of the insults and pressure they received about their bodies.

“You bullied women for not having big backsides and now you are telling them not to do surgery. No amount of insults or abuse will push me to change my body. This body is my hard work and the success I have achieved.

“I am proud of my body and I will not alter it because people talk. Women should be free to make their own decisions about their bodies. If I ever decide to do any surgery, it will only be weight-loss surgery.

“I will not go for enhancement procedures like BBL. People should stop judging women for the choices they make about their bodies.”

Marketers Say Petrol Would Have Reached N1,500 Without Dangote Refinery

Oil marketers have warned that the pump price of petrol in Nigeria could have soared to as much as ₦1,500 per litre if the country remained heavily reliant on imported refined petroleum products.

According to industry players, improvements in local refining capacity, particularly the operations of the Dangote Refinery, have helped cushion the impact of rising global oil prices and supply disruptions.

Marketers had earlier warned that petrol prices could climb to around N1,200 per litre due to the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, which has triggered volatility in global crude oil markets.

They explained that petrol prices in Nigeria are influenced by international crude oil prices, exchange rate pressures and rising logistics costs. Over the weekend, petrol was already selling for more than N1,000 per litre at several filling stations in Lagos, up from an earlier average of about N939 per litre.

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority has also noted that fluctuations in pump prices are a reflection of market forces following the deregulation of Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.

Speaking on the situation, the National Publicity Secretary of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Chinedu Ukadike, said the current price trend is largely beyond the control of marketers.

He explained that although prices may continue to rise, the presence of local refining capacity has prevented an even steeper increase.

Ukadike said that if Nigeria were still importing most of its fuel, the current global pressures could have pushed petrol prices far higher, potentially reaching N1,500 per litre, while also creating shortages due to increased competition for supply.

Another industry operator, Anwalu Ahmed, said the current situation is the result of both global and domestic pressures affecting Nigeria’s petroleum supply chain.

According to him, tensions in the Middle East — one of the world’s most important oil-producing regions have increased fears of supply disruptions, causing traders to factor additional risks into crude oil and refined product prices.

He noted that even when actual supply has not been affected, market uncertainty alone can trigger immediate price increases.

Ahmed also pointed out that Nigeria still relies partly on imported refined products, which means higher landing costs whenever international crude prices rise.

Recent reports also indicated a temporary slowdown in petrol loading from the Dangote Refinery, raising concerns that pump prices could increase further as Brent crude trades above $100 per barrel.

Some filling stations in Lagos were also observed to have temporarily shut down sales as they awaited new pricing decisions.

Ukadike dismissed claims that marketers were exploiting old stock bought at lower prices, explaining that price adjustments in the oil and gas sector are directly tied to the cost of crude oil and exchange rate movements.

He added that global fuel prices, particularly in Europe, have risen sharply in recent weeks, further contributing to the pressure on Nigeria’s domestic market.

Afrobeats Is Mainly For Lagos, Yorubas – Omah Lay Claims

Nigerian singer Omah Lay has stirred controversy after claiming that the Afrobeats genre is predominantly dominated by Yorubas, making it challenging for artists from other ethnic groups to break into the Lagos music scene.

Omah Lay said coming from Port Harcourt, he had to work hard to earn a spot in the Lagos music industry, which felt exhausting at some point.

Speaking at the listening party of his forthcoming album, ‘Clarity Of Mind,’ the singer explained that he is currently at a point where he no longer seeks validations from the Lagos or global music industry, adding that he is contented with the love of his fans and family.

“Afrobeats is mainly Lagos. It is mainly Yorubas. Fela Kuti is the pioneer, we all know that and he is Yoruba. I am from Port Harcourt and you have to break into Lagos. There are only two people from PH that you know; Burna Boy and me.

“It got to a point I am like, you know what? I am going to take my time and look at my family and fans; people who really love me, I am going to stay there. The rest of you, the rest of the world, don’t love me. F**k off. That is it,” he said.

I Can’t Cope – Filmmaker Kunle Afolayan Cries Out After Spending ₦11m In One Monthly On Diesel (Video)

Nollywood filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has expressed concern over the rising cost of diesel needed to operate his businesses.

The businessman said the amount spent on fuel has become very difficult to manage.

The film producer disclosed that his businesses now spend about ₦11 million on diesel within four to five weeks, a situation he said is putting serious pressure on his operations.

Afolayan, who runs the KAP Film Village and Resort, shared this during a video posted on his Instagram page on Tuesday.

In the video, the filmmaker explained that the high fuel costs are affecting the smooth running of his facilities.

He said the price of diesel has increased sharply, and this has made it hard for him to keep up with the expenses.

According to him, even though solar power has already been installed at the film village and other facilities, the businesses still depend heavily on diesel to maintain a regular power supply.

He explained that the rising price of diesel has made the situation worse, as the fuel now sells at about ₦1,500 per litre, which is higher than what it used to cost before.

Afolayan also revealed that his businesses have had to rely on buying diesel on credit in order to continue operating.

He said payments are usually made gradually whenever money comes in, and it sometimes takes up to two months before the outstanding amount can be cleared.

He said: “I’ve been sad because I can’t cope with the N1,500 per litre of diesel. In one of the businesses that we run, the KAP Village, we spend about N11m in four or five weeks on diesel. And we have solar power, but we’re still spending about N11m.

“The diesel we’ve been buying, we’ve been buying on credit. When we make small money, we find a way to pay. Sometimes it takes two months to even pay down and then get another one on credit. But now from about N1,000 or N995 to N1,500, it’s not sustainable. If you can come to our aid, I’ll really appreciate.”

His comments come after the Dangote Petroleum Refinery increased the gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) to ₦1,175 per litre, up from ₦995 per litre.

The change marked the third price adjustment within one week and represented an increase of ₦180 in just three days.

War: Federal Govt Begins Evacuation Of Nigerians From Iran

The Federal Government has begun evacuating Nigerians who wish to leave Iran, escorting them safely across the Armenian border as tensions continue to rise in the Middle East.

The development was disclosed on Tuesday by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, in a post shared on her X handle.

According to her, officials of the Nigerian Embassy in Tehran are coordinating the evacuation process and assisting Nigerians willing to depart the country.

The evacuees are being escorted to the Armenian border where arrangements have been made to facilitate their safe passage.

The evacuation comes amid growing concerns over the security situation in the region following a series of coordinated military strikes on Iran by the United States and Israel on February 28.

The strikes reportedly triggered retaliatory missile and drone attacks across parts of the Middle East, raising fears of a broader regional conflict.

Despite the rising tension, Dabiri-Erewa reassured that no Nigerian in Iran has been affected by the ongoing hostilities.

She also noted that embassy officials remain stationed at the border to receive and assist Nigerians who decide to leave the country.

“Willing Nigerians being escorted across the Armenian border by officials of the Nigerian embassy in Iran for safe passage. No Nigerian in Iran has been affected by the war as officials remain at the border to receive all who want to leave,”
she wrote.

This comes due to the ongoing military strikes between U.S, Israel and Iran.
