Christian Community Criticize Me For Performing In Churches – Johnny Drille

Nigerian singer cum songwriter, Johnny Drille has called out the Christian community.

This is as he lamented that they criticize him for performing in churches.

The Mavin Records artist stated this in a recent episode of the CreativiTEA podcast.
He also noted that his music has grown beyond traditional Christian boundaries.
He said, “I love God and I’m very much involved in church, but I never really felt my music was for church. Sometimes I get invited to perform in church, which is quite interesting.

“I’ve gotten some backlash from the Christian community whenever I perform in churches. But the truth is my music spreads positivity. It touches the issues the church tries to avoid.”
The singer further argued that the church often neglects conversations about love, a subject theme he believes is both important and spiritual.
He added, “The church shies away from talking about love. You go to Christian weddings you hear Davido and Wizkid song. What if the church decides that we want to start doing their own Christian love songs.”

Why I Stopped Making Binge-Eating Content – Content Creator Asherkine

Content creator, Akinyemi Oluwaseun Omotayo, popularly known as Asherkine has revealed why he stopped creating binge-eating content.
Recall that he was popular for making videos showing him eating large quantities of different foods in one sitting.
Explaining why he stopped making such videos, he wrote on X that it made him lose the concept of moderation.
He added that he struggled to battle gluttony and also suffered health complications due to excessive eating.
He wrote: ‘I never answered to why i paused making this type of food content; i genuinely enjoyed clearing up over 5 different meals regularly until my body told me.

“Even though i had an active lifestyle at the time and tried to stay fit , i lost the concept of moderation as mindless binge eating became the OOTD even when i wasn’t creating content.  i wouldn’t stop eating until i started to feel abdominal discomfort.

“Despite being full asl , i always wanted to keep eating! gluttony had made its way. asides the general discomfort , heart palpitations, excess weight gain ,  irregular sleep , sneaky high blood pressure count, constant fatigue and so on… the mental battle to beat gluttony is probably the hardest thing to deal with.

“I can’t express how disrespectful gluttony is and how much power it holds but it’s mad underrated. It’s 2 years after and i still chat to the pit in my tummy.

“If you struggle with COMPULSIVE EATING DISORDER , shout out you. pay attention, i’m no health practitioner but don’t underplay it.

“I’ll still make food content but definitely not in such volume.”

Afrobeats Lacks Originality, Intellectual Property Theft Rampant – Mr Real

Nigerian musician, Okafor Uchenna Victor aka Mr Real, has called out Afrobeats musicians.
This is as he lamented that the genre lacks originality.
According to him, a lot of songs and ideas on its scene were stolen.
He noted that upcoming artists are the most affected but often don’t get justice because they don’t have much supporters to create awareness about the injustice.
He claimed that even veteran artists like Blackface who is always vocal about song theft have used other artists’ intellectual properties in the past without approval.
Speaking in a recent interview with Hip TV, Mr Real also dived into the allegations that Rema stole his colleague Omah Lay’s intellectual property, saying it could be possible due to the nature of the music industry.
“Blackface dey always complain say dem steal him song. Afrobeats no get original songs, even Rema fit steal Omah Lay song. You see idea wey bad if you no sharp, omo boys go run am. No time.

“Stealing of songs happens more between upcoming artists & top artistes but the upcoming no get fans to speak for them. There’s no original song in Afrobeats. Even the one shouting ‘they stole my song’ don still copy person own,” he said in Pidgin.

No Work, No Pay – FG Threatens ASUU Over Nationwide Strike

The Federal Government has insisted that its ‘no work, no pay policy’ will be implemented against striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) members.
This is as the union embarked on a warning strike this Monday.
In a joint statement released on Sunday, Minister of Education Maruf Tunji Alausa and Minister of State for Education Suwaiba Sai’d Ahmed said the government remains committed to resolving ASUU’s concerns through continued dialogue.

“The Federal Government has demonstrated sincerity, patience, and goodwill in its discussions with the Union,” the statement said.
According to the ministers, several of ASUU’s key demands — including enhanced teaching allowances and better conditions of service — have already been addressed.
They added that other unresolved matters fall under the authority of university governing councils, which have been reconstituted to handle them.

“Despite these efforts, ASUU has chosen to embark on strike action, a decision that fails to reflect fairness to students or the public,” the statement read.
Reaffirming President Bola Tinubu’s commitment under the Renewed Hope Agenda to maintaining academic stability, the ministers cautioned that the “no work, no pay” policy remains a valid labour law and would be applied if universities are shut down.
They urged ASUU to reconsider its stance and return to the dialogue table, emphasizing that “the government remains open to engagement at all levels to avoid unnecessary disruption in the education sector.”

ASUU Declares Nationwide Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced a nationwide warning strike.

ASUU announced the two-week nationwide warning strike after the expiration of its 14-day ultimatum to the Federal Government.

ASUU President, Professor Chris Piwuna, announced the decision during a press briefing in Abuja on Sunday, stating that the industrial action would take effect from midnight, marking the end of the ultimatum.
He explained that the strike aims to compel the government to fulfill its outstanding agreements with the union and tackle the ongoing challenges confronting public universities across Nigeria.
The union had issued the ultimatum on September 28, 2025, as part of renewed efforts to resolve long-standing disputes within the university system.
Piwuna said the action became necessary after repeated engagements with the government produced no meaningful outcome, declaring that, “all branches of ASUU are hereby directed to withdraw their services from midnight, 12:01 am on Monday, 13th October 2025. The warning strike shall be total and comprehensive as agreed at the last NEC meeting.”
