US President, Donald Trump has drawn attention after complimenting rapper Nicki Minaj’s backside during a rally in Port Huron, Michigan, where the musician appeared alongside him on Sunday, October 25.
“By the way, I looked at one hell of a beautiful ass before — Nicki Minaj. That’s hard to miss,” Trump said, prompting cheers from the crowd.
He subsequently asked the rapper to stand up and acknowledged that his comment might offend her.
Trump explains his compliment to Nicki Minaj
The US president said he hoped Minaj had not taken offence, while expressing his admiration for the rapper and her support for him.
Trump said, “I hope Nicki wasn’t insulted, but we love Nicki. She’s been with us for a long time.”
The comment came as Trump discussed his earlier remarks about Republican Ohio Senator Jon Husted’s physique.
Earlier in October, Trump had described examining Husted’s body after learning about his background as a college football player. He also praised the senator’s athletic build and hands during the conversation.
Trump’s comments about celebrities attract attention
Trump’s latest remark has added to a series of public comments he has made about Minaj’s appearance.
In July, the president reportedly described the rapper as “so hot” during a White House luncheon. In February, he also praised her skin during a Black History Month reception.
Minaj has previously spoken publicly about her support for Trump, making their political association a subject of discussion.
The Michigan rally appearance brought the president and the rapper together again, with Trump’s remarks about her appearance becoming a notable moment from the event.
