Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen has reached a new milestone in Champions League.
He has now equaled Obafemi Martins’ record for the most goals scored by a Nigerian in a UEFA Champions League campaign.
Osimhen reached the feat after his dying minute’s equaliser in Napoli’s 1-1 draw against AC Milan in the second leg of their UCL quarter-final clash on Tuesday.
Obafemi Martins netted first time for another Italian side, Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League in the 2004/2005 campaign.
Osimhen’s impressive performances have been crucial for Napoli in their quest for European glory this season.
Meanwhile, despite Osimhen’s record-equaling goal, his club were eliminated from the Champions League by their Italian rivals and seven-time winners, AC Milan.
Milan came into the game with a goal advantage from the first leg at San Siro. Rossoneri doubled their advantage 43 minutes into the second leg in Naples, thanks to Olivier Giroud who missed a penalty.
Napoli struggled against the disciplined-Milan defence with winger Khivcha Kwaratskhelia also missing an important penalty in the second half.
Osimhen’s last-minute header was not enough to lead Napoli to victory.
With Napoli out of the Champions League, Osimhen and the club will focus on the Italian Serie A where they currently hold a 14 points advantage.

Peter Okoye, the Nigerian music superstar, has stormed the city of Naples in Italy.
He went to Italy ahead of Tuesday’s (today) UEFA Champions League clash between Napoli and AC Milan.
Okoye will be at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona to support his friend, Victor Osimhen, later tonight.
The popular musician announced his presence in the city for the quarter-final second-leg clash through social media.
“Reporting LIVE from Napoli🇮🇹 to support my G @victorosimhen9 #NapoliVsAcMilan,” Okoye wrote on his Twitter handle, accompanied by a short video.

Osimhen will be hoping to help Napoli overturn a first-leg 1-0 deficit and secure a place in the semi-finals.
The 24-year-old missed the first-leg with a muscle injury.

World-famous Nigerian footballer, Victor Osimhen has made a promise to Nigerians.
He promised that the Super Eagles “will do everything” to win back the love of Nigerians.
The striker made the pledge ahead of the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) double-header qualifying games against Guinea-Bissau.
Osimhen spoke in a chat with the media team of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Wednesday.
The Eagles missed out on the 2022 World Cup to Ghana, and the team failed to fully bounce back from the disappointment.
The Jose Peseiro-led team lost five of the seven games since losing the World Cup ticket. The last defeat was a 4-0 rout against Portugal in November 2022.
Osimhen said the players have learned from past mistakes and are now “in high spirits” to do better and qualify for the next AFCON competition.
He added that the Eagles “are ready to give our hearts” against Guinea-Bissau and ensure Nigeria gets the victory.
“We are looking forward to it, and I’m happy to be back with the squad. We expect amazing results from the two-legged games against Guinea-Bissau. We are ready, and the spirit is high,” Osimhen said.
“And we are ready to give our hearts on Friday and also in the second leg. We will give everything to make sure the fans are entertained and that we get the win and qualify for the next AFCON.
“I want to say [to Nigerians] thank you very much for your support. Thank you very much for sticking with me and the Super Eagles. And for your support throughout the years. I know we might have let you down in the past, and I want to say we will do everything in our power to make sure we win your love back.”
Nigeria will play Guinea Bissau at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, on Friday before proceeding for the second leg of the tie at the Estadio 24 de Setembro in Bissau three days later.
The Eagles are leaders of Group A of the qualification round with six points from victories over Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe.
