Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo has revealed plans to support parents facing difficulties in paying their children’s school fees as the 2025/2026 academic session begins.
In a post on his official X handle on Wednesday, Dakolo acknowledged the financial strain many families face at the start of every term.
“I know it’s school fee season, it’s not always easy, I know this first-hand.
“So, let me help lessen that burden a little bit,”he wrote.
The singer directed parents and guardians to send their children’s school bills via Instagram to #TheOyindaOlu, adding that receipts of payments made to schools would be sent back to confirm the support.
“Just DM the school bill to @TheOyindaOlu on IG.
“We would DM you the receipt of what we sent to the school,” the artist wrote.

Dakolo’s announcement has drawn wide attention online from fans, with many commending the move at a time when households are grappling with mounting costs.
The quartet of Nigerian singers, Timi Dakolo, Olamide, D’banj, and Yemi Alade are set to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2024 African Military Games in Abuja today.
On X, the Nigerian Army wrote, “The stage is set and the legends are coming for the opening ceremony of #AMGA2024.
“Watch @Olamide, @iamdbanj, @yemialadee and @timidakolo light up the opening ceremony like never before. It’s happening tomorrow, 20th November 2024.”
25 countries are participating in the 2nd African Military Games, AMGA 2024.
The athletes will be participating in 19 sporting activities, which will be taking place at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, except for obstacle crossing and shooting.
The 2024 Africa Military Games are organized by the Organization of Military Sports in Africa, OSMA, and the International Military Sports Council, CISM.
D’banj performed at the closing ceremony of the 2013 African Cup of Nations, AFCON, in South Africa, which the Super Eagles of Nigeria won.
Yemi Alade sang the soundtrack and performed at the opening ceremony of the last AFCON in Ivory Coast.
Adekunle Gold, the popular Nigerian singer, has made a new claim.
He stated that his colleague, Timi Dakolo’s song, ‘Great Nation’ would have made a better national anthem than the old anthem which the country returned to.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday signed the National Anthem Bill 2024 into law to reinstate the old anthem, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee.”
Reacting, Adekunle Gold wondered why those in authority did not consider Timi Dakolo’s ‘Great Nation’ as the country’s new anthem.
On his X handle, he wrote: “No one thought Timi Dakolo’s Great Nation makes a better anthem?”
His post sparked mind reactions.
Here is a compilation of some of the reactions:
@jachukwu wrote, “If they were truly looking for an anthem that will steer up patriotism and love for the country it would have been that song.”
@CarmillaXander said, “Absolutely yes, that song could make the least patriotic Nigerian stand up and go ‘sasageyo’.”
@Tyekooon opined, “The lyrics are too deep for an unserious country, hence.”
@xybox wrote, “It would make a beautiful anthem.
“When these old meddling politicians have left this world, I hope the future legislators will denounce this colonial special number of theirs and adopt ‘Great Nation’.”
@BFMPLUS said, “Yes but it still carries the disputable and derogatory word: Tribe!!
We should stop describing ourselves as tribal people.
“No whiteman ever allows himself to be called tribe.”
