“Tinubu, Dangote Group failed Phyna’s late sister” — Verydarkman

Nigerian activist and social media critic, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, has condemned individuals and institutions he believes failed Phyna’s sister, Ruth Otabor, who died weeks after an accident involving a Dangote truck.

Ruth’s death was confirmed on Sunday by Eko Solicitors & Advocates on behalf of the Otabor family. Her passing came after weeks of treatment for severe injuries sustained in a road accident involving Dangote’s truck near Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State.

Reacting to the tragedy, Verydarkman faulted President Bola Tinubu, the Dangote Group, and Nigerians with social media influence, accusing them of failing to rally support when Ruth was still alive and in desperate need of advanced medical care.

In a strongly worded video, he said:
“Phyna’s sister has finally kpai, a lot of people are lending their voices to the RIP but when we needed those voices to pressure Dangote to do the right thing, 19 days was what she spent at the hospital but many refused to post because it won’t give them engagement. You bunch are hypocrites, may God forgive your souls. Nigeria has failed us. President Bola Tinubu, you have failed us all. And to Dangote Group, are you happy now? You had the time to take that girl abroad to treat her.”

His remarks came hours after the Dangote Group issued a condolence statement, expressing sadness over Ruth’s death and insisting that the company and its insurance partners had been covering all medical and financial costs since the accident.

The conglomerate further noted that arrangements had already been made to fly Ruth to India for advanced treatment, pending her doctors’ medical clearance. Unfortunately, she passed away before the process could be finalised.
