Ghana Has Shown Me More Love Than Nigeria – Oxlade

Afrobeat singer Oxlade has revealed why he has special love for Ghana.
According to him, Ghana showed him more love than his country, Nigeria.
This was obvious in his decision to feature Ghanaian hip-hop legend, Sarkodie on his debut album, “Oxlade from Africa.”
He said the collaboration is a testament to the warmth and appreciation he has received from Ghanaian fans.
In a recent interview, Oxlade expressed his gratitude for the Ghanaian music scene’s open arms, saying it’s a refreshing contrast to the challenges he faces in Nigeria.
He also clarified his earlier social media posts about “OGs” boycotting and blackmailing him.
According to Oxlade, his frustration stems from people trying to control his trajectory and “play god.”
He explained that some issues arise from non-music-related reasons, such as perceiving him as disrespectful or not greeting them properly.
Oxlade chose not to mention names or escalate the issue, opting instead to focus on his music.
“I hate the mindset of people trying to play god…When they feel like they can determine your trajectory.

“Sometimes, it’s because they feel I see them outside and I don’t greet them well”

I Was Racially Abused in France – Singer, Oxlade

Nigerian musician, Ikuforiji Olaitan aka Oxlade has shared an experience how he suffered racial abuse in France.
He spoke when he appeared on a recent episode of ‘The Datebizz’ podcast.
The singer revealed that the experience inspired the title of his debut album, ‘Oxlade From Africa.’
“I decided to name my album ‘Oxlade From Africa’ because I was racially abused in France, precisely Monaco,” he recalled.
“That was what woke me up to be an African. It also made me realise that African stigma exists. In Africa, we see ourselves as normal human beings but outside Africa, they [foreigners] see us as monkeys, strange beings.”
Oxlade, a graduate of History and International Relations, also claimed that the names Africa and Nigeria are both derogatory.
