Mason Mount, a midfielder for Chelsea, has added his name to the club’s history by tying Eden Hazard’s previous mark.
Since Eden Hazard accomplished that feat at the age of 23 years and 271 days, the Englishman became the youngest Chelsea player to score 25 Premier League goals for the Blues. His age is 23 years and 279 days.
Mount’s two goals in the contest gave the Blues a victory over Aston Villa and three points overall. With 19 points, Chelsea is currently in fourth position.
The Senegalese goalkeeper took a swipe at Ballon d’or organizers for not including his name on the Ballon d’or shortlist and he thinks he was ignored because he doesn’t represent an European team internationally like France.
Edouard Mendy’s team mates Cesar Azpilicueta, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount, and Romelu Lukaku all made the 30 man shortlist with his name missing after he had a very god first campaign with Chelsea wining the Champions league and keeping a record 9 clean sheets.
Speaking to Canal+ (via Wiw Sport), Mendy said: “It’s something that motivates me and pushes me to work. Honestly, I am wondering. If I had played for France and had taken part in the [European Championships], would we have this debate and this reflection? “Do I think it’s an injustice? No, I wouldn’t use that word. It’s something that motivates me to go forward, to work and be performant at club level and with my country, and as I said after the game with the national team, it’s the journalists’ freedom of vote and expression, and they vote honourably and conscientiously.”
