Why Remi Tinubu Is Angry At Governor Adeleke — Dele Momodu

Dele Momodu, the veteran Nigerian journalist and publisher, has attributed the public spat between Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to underlying political tensions, particularly Adeleke’s refusal to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Momodu, speaking in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune, stated that the APC operates with an “entitlement syndrome,” believing every governor should align with the party.

Momodu suggested that the First Lady’s displeasure, which played out in a viral video from the 10th coronation anniversary of the Ooni of Ife, was deeply rooted in the Governor’s political affiliation.

He said: “However, I know the reason she is angry, because she used to enjoy his singing and music when they used to dance together in Osogbo and all that. I have video evidence of that. She is angry because the governor refused to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).”

Momodu claimed the APC’s goal is to consolidate power by having all governors join its fold.

“The only thing that will give them joy and comfort is for every governor in Nigeria… should join APC. Then Tinubu can become an emperor in word and indeed. That is what they seek to do… Anybody who does not join them is considered an enemy,”
he said.

Momodu criticized the public manner in which Governor Adeleke was interrupted mid-speech during the Ooni of Ife’s coronation ceremony.

He argued that the incident, which saw Mrs. Tinubu approach the podium, gesture, and whisper to Adeleke, was avoidable and embarrassing for a sitting governor in his own state.

Momodu stressed that if there was a need to hasten proceedings, more discreet channels should have been used instead of a direct, public intrusion.

He added that the controversy was fueled by the subsequent attempts to manage public perception, noting that a simple acknowledgement of error from the outset would have quickly defused the situation.

2027: How To Defeat Tinubu – Dele Momodu

Ovation Magazine publisher, Dele Momodu, has stated that the only viable path for the opposition to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election is to zone the presidency to the Muslim North and the vice presidency to the Christian South.

Momodu stated this on Friday while responding to questions in an interview on Arise Television.

He said President Tinubu had already locked down the South, making it almost impossible for any southern presidential candidate to compete effectively against him.

“It’s obvious that the ruling government has already turned this into an ethnic battle, and it’s going to be a battle of North versus South.

“That is why you saw PDP and APC apparatchiks all struggling to insist that a candidate must come from the South. They know that President Tinubu has already locked down the South, and nobody — not Peter Obi, not Goodluck Jonathan, will be able to catch up with him where he is right now,” he said.

According to him, President Tinubu’s immense financial resources and control of state structures give him a major advantage, adding that only a strategic counterbalance from the North could tilt the balance in favour of the opposition.

The former presidential candidate also dismissed the notion that such zoning would undermine fairness or the principle of power rotation, arguing that the idea of an eight-year turn for the North and South was not enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution.

2027: Why Goodluck Jonathan Will Not Run Under PDP – Dele Momodu

Dele Momodu, a member of the African Democratic Congress, ADC has claimed former President Goodluck Jonathan will not contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He spoke on Friday while fielding questions on Channels Television’s Sunrise programme.
He also claimed that Jonathan’s recent interactions with former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, should not be interpreted as signs of an alliance, noting that politicians often meet for different reasons.
Momodu added that speculation is common in politics, citing public reactions to a recent meeting between Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and President Bola Tinubu.
He said: “Those who are saying, oh, former president Jonathan will run on the platform of PDP, I doubt, because those who are determined to kill PDP, they are still very much entrenched. Those who are saying, okay, he and former Governor Peter Obi are meeting, it’s normal for politicians to meet. They meet all the time.

“The other day when we saw the picture of the senator Rabiu Kwankwaso with President Bola Tinubu, people said he’s going to dump NNPP and he’s going to APC. People speculate a lot. This is not a time to speculate. This is a time to focus and strategize.

“So all this noise about this will go there, let people go. In a democracy, if you cannot agree on consensus, then let there be primary, let them go to poll and whosoever wins, so be it.”

He Cannot Hold Nigeria by The Jugular Like You Did in Lagos – Dele Momodu Tells President Tinubu

Publisher Dele Momodu has sent a message to President Tinubu Tinubu.
According to him, Tinubu cannot hold Nigeria by the jugular like he did in Lagos.
He claims to have been close to President Tinubu for over 32 years, with their relationship dating back to their time in exile during the struggle for democracy.
Momodu, who is very critical of the Tinubu government, states that he holds no grudge against the president. However, as a “true friend,” he believes he should be able to tell Tinubu that he cannot ‘control Nigeria as he did in Lagos.’
A post he shared on X this evening reads;

‘’I have been very close to PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU in over 32 years. We became closer in exile from 1995-98. After we returned to Nigeria from England, he became Lagos Governor for eight years and has locked down the state in the last 26 years. Rather than join his band of acolytes, I humbly decided to build a global brand and God answered my prayers, the reason I have been able to survive on my modest income. I have nothing personal against the PRESIDENT but a true friend should be able to tell him that he cannot hold Nigeria by the jugular like he did in Lagos. He should sell his achievements to deserve a second term and not by use of direct and subterranean Federal might… It is that simple…”

The feud between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Wike, which led to the arson attack on the Rivers Assembly.

Governor Fubara had claimed that Wike was not allowing him to carry out his duties as Governor of the State efficiently. However, his decision to defy Wike’s authority spawned conspiracies to impeach him on the floor of the State Assembly, generating chaos in the state.

“ANOTHER KOBO ADVICE FOR MR EZENWO NYESOM WIKE… My dear Honorable Brother, good morning and happy new month. I’m here once again to tell you the home truth. Let me establish two incontrovertible facts, you’re a very fantastic projects man and you’re very generous to your friends. But, like every mortal, you have one tragic and fatal flaw, and yours is LACK OF ANGER MANAGEMENT,
” Mr Momodu in a tweet said.

“I DO NOT KNOW ANYONE WITH YOUR KIND OF DIVINE FAVOUR. This should satisfy you but your insatiable hunger and thirst for power is driving you into believing that you must have your way all the time. It would have been nice if you’re in private business and running your personal enterprise. But RIVERS is neither your property nor perpetual inheritance,”
 he added.

His comment comes just as the leadership of the PDP intensifies efforts to settle the dispute between the FCT minster and his predecessor. PDP governors had met with Governor Fubara in the aftermath of the power play on Tuesday.
