I Failed Under Sony Music, I Had To Go Home – Davido

Afrobeats star, Davido Adeleke aka Davido has revealed that when he got signed to American record label, Sony Music, there was a decline in his career.

He disclosed that 2016 was “a dead year” for him because his debut EP under Sony was a colossal failure.

He made this known while featuring on the latest episode of the Drink Champs podcast co-hosted by N.O.R.E and DJ EFN which went viral on Saturday.

He said in part, “I remember telling them [Sony Music team] that the producers you guys put me in with are cool but I need to go home. I was in America for almost seven months.

“I woke up one day and I was like, I need to go home. So, I just got on a plane and went back home. My brother, two weeks from when I got back home, ‘If’ blew up.

“Every artist can go through it; that point when you are so high, you’re untouchable, and then down the line you started fading. Every artist goes through that. That is the worst thing ever. I have had that period in my life and I was like, nah, I need to go back. Immediately I got back home, I got back my mojo.”

Most Beautiful Girls In Nigeria Are From My Wife’s Home State – Davido

Superstar Afrobeats artist, David Adeleke, aka Davido, has opined that most beautiful girls in Nigeria are from Imo state, where his wife, Chioma hails from.

He made the assertion while featuring as a guest on the latest episode of the Drink Champs podcast co-hosted by N.O.R.E and DJ EFN.

The ‘Feel’ crooner was asked where the most beautiful girls are from, and he replied that wherever his wife is from is where the most beautiful girls are.

He said, “The most beautiful girls in Nigeria are from Imo State; where my wife is from.

“Wherever my wife is from, that’s where the most beautiful girls are.”

Davido also revealed on the show that the world’s wealthiest black man, Aliko Dangote is his godfather.

He said the billionaire businessmen drove him home from the hospital where he was born in Atlanta, United States.

I Was Unaware Of My Family’s Wealth Till I Was 13 – Davido

Afrobeats star, Davido Adeleke has revealed that he was not aware of his family’s affluence till he was 13.

He made the revelation during a guest appearance on the popular Drink Champs podcast.

In an episode hosted by N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN, Davido recounted a significant event that triggered his awareness of his family’s social and economic status.

An explosion had occurred, causing damage to their residence and prompting them to swiftly relocate to a new, lavish property.

Reflecting on this incident, Davido recalled the moment of realization.

He said;

“As much money that I have been seeing, all these rich this, rich that. My dad is very disciplined. I ain’t know we had money till I was 13.”

He further elaborated;

“My dad was a billionaire driving a Honda Accord. Let me tell you how I knew he was lit. So, there was an explosion and a lot of houses got destroyed, including our first house that we have been since when I was a kid. When that happened, we had to leave that day because the house got so f*cked up.”

Continuing his narrative, Davido revealed how his mother informed him about their new residence after the incident.

He expressed his astonishment when they arrived at a grand mansion in another part of town that his father had been secretly building.

The size and opulence of the new house made Davido realize the extent of his family’s wealth.

He shared;

“We started driving, when he got there, it was mad. Big crib. He still stays there now. I was like, mummy, what’s going on? That was when I started realizing that my dad was rich”.

What Have I Personally Done To You – Davido Asks Trolls Wishing Him Death

Afrobeats star, Davido has reacted after some trolls on Twitter wished him death.

A Twitter user @Winco_3 while sharing a six seconds video of music performance on Twitter had taunted that Davido’s burial can’t be crowded like the clip of the event he shared.

He wrote: “Even Davido burial that would be free can’t pack this crowd. Know your mate.”

Reacting to the user in a post on his Twitter handle on Sunday morning, Davido queried him for wishing him dead.

While quoting the tweet, Davido asked “So u want me to die? Reason being? What have I personally done to you to have you wish death on me. Anyways I’m not going anywhere! I WILL LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST.

“If nobody wants to talk I WILL. you guys will hurt the wrong person one day. Not everybody is strong and can take it for years like I’ve done! Me no send but one day these people will hurt the wrong person.

Davido Celebrates His Police Escort As He Gets Promoted To Inspector

David Adeleke, the world-famous Nigerian singer who is popularly known as Davido, has celebrated with his personal police escort, Bawo.

Davido celebrated Bawo after he got promoted to the rank of inspector in the Nigerian Police Force.

The Nigerian Force had announced that some of its officers were promoted to higher ranks.

Bawo who’s one of the promoted officers was seen in a video which surfaced online being congratulated by the singer.

In the video, Davido was seen affixing a new badge on the stolid-looking officer after which he gave him a congratulatory handshake.

“Congratulations on your promotion to Inspector of the Nigeria Police Force,” OBO remarked as he pinned the badge on his vest.

Bawo also took to his page to express his thanks to the musician for the recognition.

“Thank you my Good Boss @davido for the decoration of my new rank. For the love you’ve always been showing me I can’t pay you but I pledge to be faithful, LOYAL and honest. May God keep protecting and blessing you for us, Amen,” he wrote.

The Benin-born hype man to the DMW boss expressed pride in his employer as he flaunted the assortment of diamond jewelry the singer owns.

Some of the jewelries include diamond rings and a pendant with his moniker ‘Baddest’ encrusted on it and a ritzy watch.

Boasting, Israel DMW noted that his boss wears only original jewelry and not fakes.

He also bragged that the jewelries would tile most of the roads in Nigeria.

I Was Disappointed In Myself After My Rift With Chioma – Davido

Superstar Afrobeats artiste, Davido has disclosed that he was disappointed in himself following his rift with his wife, Chioma.

The ‘Unavailable’ crooner said he could have done better because his wife is an amazing person.

Davido disclosed this in a recent episode of ABTalks podcast.

He, however, said he has long reconciled with Chioma.

The podcast host, Anas Bukhash asked: “When was David most disappointed in David?”

Davido responded: “Probably, when me and my wife [Chioma] first had like a little rift. I thought I could have done better because she is an amazing person.

“I think that was the only time I messed up. But I have fixed it [laughs].”

Ifeanyi Has A Little Brother In London

Superstar Nigerian singer, Davido Adeleke has disclosed that his deceased son, Ifeanyi, has a younger brother.

Davido revealed this during an interview with YouTuber, Anas Bukhash.

While the interviewer was talking about his daughters, Davido interrupted and said, “I’ve a son too. Like, Ifeanyi has a little brother.”

He further revealed that his name is Dawson and he stays in London with his mother.

However social media users have dragged the artist for taking him long to acknowledge his son, Dawson.

@Esthersky also wrote, “Glad u finally accept u got a son. By Dawson so show them same love u showed ify”.

I Still Cry Every Morning Over My Son’s Death

Popular singer, Davido has said he still cries every morning for his late son, Ifeanyi.

He made the revelation in a podcast interview while discussing about his the release of his “Timeless” album.

 

He said many fans anticipated sorrowful songs on his album but he delivered “bangers” instead.

 

Davido noted that  even though he overcame the difficult time following his son’s passing, he still sheds tears over it every morning.

 

He said: “I miss him every day, there’s tears coming out of my eyes every morning, you don’t have to see it,

“I look at myself in the mirror and I said apart from it just being about me, I know how many people love me, I know how many people are depending on me.

“My son up there is looking down at me. Apart from me being strong for his mom, which is my primary responsibility, I have to be strong for the world.

“A lot of people thought the album was just going to be a lot of sad songs, we gave them bangers on bangers.

“My son is dancing and my mom is dancing in heaven. So for people to see that it’s possible to stand up again and be able to work, it’s only God.

“Those were one of the things that and my wife relied on, God is real. Then everything just aligned back, we performed better, business is better.”
