A video of Chioma Adeleke twerking on her husband and Afrobeats star, Davido as she celebrated her birthday has surfaced online.
The couple is in Montego Bay, Jamaica for the celebration.
One video from the birthday festivities shows the chef grinding against Davido while twerking for him at a nightclub.
David Adeleke, the world-famous Afrobeats superstar, who is also known as Davido, said his success in the entertainment industry is not because of his wealthy background but his values.
Appearing on the American podcast ‘Business Untitled,’ Davido explained that there are people from wealthier backgrounds than him who have attempted to create a niche for themselves in the entertainment industry but weren’t as successful as he is.
“There are many billionaires in Nigeria, even richer than my father… And there are people [billionaire’s children] who have tried to do what I have tried to do: music, entertainment, business. But mine has been successful because of my values,” he said.
“The biggest challenge I had when I started music was that my father is wealthy. But I got accepted for one reason and that reason is that I am good, talented. I don’t think I would have ever been accepted if I wasn’t good at what I do.”
Popular Nigerian singer/songwriter, Davido has said that he does not get offended when referred to an Afrobeats artist.
Davido, during an interview on the latest edition of the Business Untitled Podcast, lamented the ‘boxing’ of all African artists into the Afrobeats genre regardless of their musical styles.
The ‘Feel’ crooner said he does not feel bad that everyone has been categorised into such a genre, but he prefers to call his style of music ‘Afrofusion’.
He said, “The first place that accepted African music outside Africa is the UK before America later join. The UK termed African music Afrobeats.
“Afrobeat is a sound that was originally pioneered by Fela Kuti. But now all African songs are termed Afrobeats. If an African artiste sings pure R&B, sounding like SZA, Summerwalker, they put them under Afrobeats. If an African rapper rapping like Drake, they still put them under Afrobeats.
“I don’t get offend when we’ve been categorised as Afrobeats. I mean, we need a genre. It could be R&B or Afropop. I call my music Afrofusion but I’m not big on ‘O put Afrofusion on my song.’ I know how long it took for African music to become mainstream.”
