President Bola Tinubu says his determination to build a prosperous Nigeria has grown stronger after he prayed inside the Holy Kaaba in Makkah during an Umrah trip to Saudi Arabia.
His spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, shared the statement on Monday.
Tinubu thanked the Saudi King, Salman bin Abdulaziz, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for letting him and his delegation into the sacred site.
He called the visit historic and said it showed the close ties between the two countries.
He said he prayed for wisdom and strength to keep serving Nigerians and believes his prayer was answered.
He also said he had promised, before the 2023 election, to return and thank God after his earlier Umrah.
Tinubu described his position as President and Commander-in-Chief as a trust from God that must be used with humility and responsibility.
On the economy, he said the foundation is solid and the country has come out of a dark tunnel.
He also stressed the need to invest in young people, saying leaders will be judged by what they do for the next generation.
The delegation included Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi, Health Minister Muhammad Ali Pate, governors of Borno, Sokoto, Jigawa, Kaduna, Yobe and Kwara, and business leaders Abdulsamad Rabiu and Wale Tinubu.
