Suspect D!es After Jumping From Building During EFCC Sting Operation in Lekki

Endurance Udeke, a resident of Periwinkle Estate in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, has reportedly d!ed after an alleged failed attempt to escape arrest during a sting operation carried out by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The anti-graft agency said in a statement on Saturday that its operatives carried out the operation on November 4, targeting suspected internet fraudsters within the estate.

According to the EFCC, four suspects were arrested during the operation.

The agency said the late Udeke and another resident of an apartment, W6a, became aware of the operation and tried to escape by jumping from a four-storey building.
Udeke sustained severe injuries and later d!ed despite medical efforts to save him, the agency said, adding that the other resident survived after receiving treatment in hospital.

The EFCC said there was no direct contact between its officers and Udeke before the incident, noting that the incident has been reported to the police.

“Operatives of the Commission were in the Estate to carry out a sting operation on November 4, 2025. The operation was smooth sailing in all the apartments, and four suspected internet fraudsters were arrested,”
the statement reads.

“However, Udeke and one other resident of apartment W6a got wind of the operation and tried to escape arrest by jumping down from the four-storey building.

“Udeke did not survive the suicidal efforts, in spite of medical interventions made to rescue him.

“The other resident, however, survived after being stabilised and treated at the hospital.

“The commission is shocked at the suicidal action of the deceased. There was no contact between officers of the Commission and the deceased before the unfortunate incident.

“The commission reported the incident to the police, which has begun an investigation into the incident.

“While we await the outcome of the investigation, it is important to remind the public that no one with nothing to hide has reason to be afraid of the EFCC sting operation.”

The sell-offs persisted as the market dipped again by N347.75 billion on Thursday and closed the week weaker with an additional loss of N318.78 billion on Friday, pushing the total weekly loss to N2.8 trillion.

Meanwhile, market activity also slowed.

Investors traded 3.575 billion shares valued at N107.011 billion in 146,429 deals, compared to the previous week’s 7.479 billion shares worth N145.429 billion exchanged in 159,487 deals.

The latest performance underscores continued investor concerns over market volatility, macroeconomic uncertainty and profit-taking activities across multiple sectors.

This comes after President Donald Trump designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern over the alleged killing of Christians.

Trump thereafter threatened to take military action in Nigeria.

The development may have impacted investors’ confidence in Nigeria’s stock market in the week under review.

Many People Around You Are Not Telling You The Truth – Pastor Adeboye Tells Tinubu

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has warned that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is being misinformed about Nigeria’s security situation by his advisers.

Adeboye made the remark during the church’s November Holy Ghost Service, themed “The Eve of Glory.”

Referencing a recent statement issued by the Presidency, Pastor Adeboye expressed concern that the content did not reflect the reality experienced by many Nigerians.

According to him, the President, whom he described as his “in-law”, had been informed that security had significantly improved and that internally displaced persons (IDPs) had returned home.

The cleric strongly disagreed with that claim, suggesting that the advisers behind such narratives may be misleading the President.

He said, “I almost spoke out last month when I heard the speech from my in-law, the President. You can go and listen to it again, particularly the section that addressed security. When I heard him say that all is well now and that displaced people have returned to their villages, I almost said that the person who wrote that speech for my President, my in-law, does not like him.

“And if you were to ask, ‘What do you mean? Somebody wrote it, but it was the President who read it,’ my response would be, didn’t he review it before delivering it? Well, if you put it that way, then my conclusion is that there are several people around my beloved in-law who are not telling him the truth. I think the following day, we read in the newspaper about a traditional ruler who was killed, whether in Kwara or Kogi.

“But this is not the time for apportioning blame. Our President inherited this problem; it started before him. And in any case, I am an applied mathematician; I am interested in simply getting the problem solved.

“Let the government use diplomatic methods to convince President Trump to give us 100 days of grace. Call our service chiefs, fortunately, they are new, and tell them to perform within three months or resign.

“We have been praying for Nigeria; we can’t pray all these prayers without something happening.

“There is a law called Newton’s Law of Motion, which states that a body will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless compelled by an external force to do otherwise. This means that whatever method God wants to use, at the end of it all, there will be peace in Nigeria again.”

Adeboye explained his reluctance to make public statements, attributing it to his position under the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

He stated that as a clergyman operating under the Christian umbrella body, he exercises caution. To underscore the importance of this chain of authority, he referenced a biblical principle, noting, “I have discovered in the Bible that a man not under authority cannot cast out a demon.”

Donald Trump’s Threat: ‘Nigerian Govt Won’t Be Intimidated’  — Tinubu Declares

President Bola Tinubu has stated that Nigeria will not be intimidated, despite growing international concerns regarding alleged genocide against Christians in the nation.

The President made the remarks in a statement posted on his verified X account on Friday, days after United States President Donald Trump threatened potential military action over alleged attacks on Christians in Nigeria.

Tinubu stated that Nigeria would continue to assert itself on the global stage with “calm, clarity, and a strong sense of purpose”.

Speaking on Nigeria’s security crisis, the President maintained that terrorism remains a long-standing challenge but assured citizens that the government is determined to overcome it.

“We are indeed faced with terrorism — a challenge Nigeria has faced for almost two decades, and we will not back down. We will decisively defeat terrorism and claim victory in this battle.

“Security is non-negotiable, and we will never compromise on this principle. With unwavering courage and a steadfast commitment to the rule of law, we will prevail,” he said.

He emphasised that national security is non-negotiable and vowed that no effort will be spared in eliminating threats to peace.

The President urged Nigeria’s international partners to continue supporting the country, noting that collaboration is critical to sustaining progress already made.

This is coming in the wake of the threat by the US President Donald Trump that he had asked the Defence Department to prepare for possible military action in Nigeria if the Nigerian government “continues to allow the killing of Christians”.

Trump had earlier designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern, CPC, in response to allegations of widespread persecution and genocide against Christians.

NDLEA Secures 21-Year Jail Terms For 5 Drug Cartel Kingpins Over Gabon, Australia-Bound Cocaine

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully secured a cumulative 21-year prison sentence for five members of an international criminal syndicate recently apprehended at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, over intercepted cocaine and opioid shipments destined for Australia and Gabon.

The convictions followed the seizure of 68.9 kilograms of cocaine and tramadol at the airport.

According to the NDLEA, the trio of Olasupo Michael Oladimeji, Muaezee Ademola Ogunbiyi, and Sola Adegoke—identified as leaders of one of the trafficking cartels—were arrested after 17.9kg of cocaine concealed in textile materials and local charms was intercepted at the MMIA export shed on August 26, 2025, en route to Sydney, Australia.

Further investigations led to the recovery of 20.5kg of Canadian Loud (a potent strain of cannabis) from Ogunbiyi’s residence in Lekki, while a black Range Rover SUV (RBC 459 EJ) was recovered from Adegoke’s home in Ikeja GRA.

The suspects were arraigned on October 30, 2025, before Justice Musa Kakaki of the Federal High Court, Lagos, on five counts under charge number FHC/L/925C/2025. They pleaded guilty to all charges.

Delivering judgment on October 31, Justice Kakaki sentenced each defendant to five years’ imprisonment without an option of fine, amounting to a combined jail term of 15 years.

The court also ordered the forfeiture of the Range Rover SUV and a Toyota Venza seized during the investigation to the Federal Government.

In a related case, two other cartel coordinators—Obunike Joseph Obichukwu and Uzorchukwu Godspower Chukwurah—were arrested over a shipment containing 2.60kg of cocaine and 27.90kg of tramadol concealed in motor spare parts destined for Gabon on July 19, 2025.

After investigations, both suspects were arraigned before Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa of the Federal High Court, Lagos, on November 4, on six counts under charge number FHC/L/980C/2025.

Upon their guilty pleas and a review of the case facts, the court sentenced both men to three years’ imprisonment each or an option of a N2 million fine.

Additionally, the N4 million Obunike allegedly offered as a bribe to NDLEA operatives was ordered forfeited to the Federal Government.

Apologise to Sunday Igboho Over Home Invasion – Soyinka Tells FG

Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka has called on the federal government to apologize to Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho over the invasion of his Ibadan home by security operatives.
He described the invasion as “unlawful and criminal.”
Recall that Igboho’s residence, located in the Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo State, was raided on July 1, 2021, by a joint team of operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Army, during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The operation was carried out over allegations that the activist was stockpiling arms and ammunition.
However, in a video posted by Igboho’s media aide, Olayomi Koiki, Professor Soyinka urged the Federal Government to apologise to the Yoruba Nation agitator, rather than continue to treat him as a criminal.
The raid, he recalled, resulted in the killing of two of Igboho’s aides and the arrest of 13 of his supporters.

Although the date of the recording could not be confirmed, the Nobel Laureate made the remarks during an interview in which he addressed questions on the invasion of Igboho’s residence, the arrest of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, and the wider issue of insecurity across Nigeria.

Soyinka said: “My advice is not so much to Igboho as it is to the government. They should stop pursuing this person as a criminal because they began by acting in a criminal fashion against him.

“If and when Igboho is brought to trial, I guarantee that the government will be very embarrassed. It is not in its interest.

“I think they should simply tell him, ‘We made a mistake; we should not have acted this way. You are no longer wanted.’ They should escort him back to his home quietly and let him resume his normal life.”
The eminent scholar further faulted media descriptions suggesting that Igboho was “in hiding,” saying the activist had instead “gone underground” to protect himself and continue his cause.

“I am not referring to the secessionist element, I am talking about what Igboho originally set out to do, to protect and defend his people, and to make it clear to aggressors that they are not lords over this nation or any part of it beyond what the Constitution permits,” Soyinka clarified.

He concluded that any attempt by the government to prosecute Igboho would backfire: “If you bring Igboho to trial, the government will end up with mud on its face.”

“As far as I am concerned, it is up to him to decide his next steps. He knows what happened before his people were killed, and only he can determine what to do next,” he said.

ASUU Denies FG N50 Billion Payment Claim, Threatens Fresh Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has denied claims by the Federal Government that it released ₦50 billion as part of the university revitalisation fund.

According to ASUU, the report is fake news.

In a statement signed by Prof. Jurbe Molwus, ASUU said the alleged payment has not reached any federal universities, and none of the union’s demands have been met ahead of its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting scheduled for November 8–9, 2025.
Molwus recalled that the union had suspended its two-week warning strike in good faith after assurances from senior government officials that concrete actions would be taken to address pending salary arrears and other entitlements.
“Even the ₦50bn revitalisation fund the FGN claimed to have released some weeks ago is yet to reach the universities. We do not know why the Minister of Education is still keeping it,” he said.
The union also dismissed claims that ₦2.3 billion had been released to settle salary and promotion arrears. Molwus emphasized that university staff have not received any credit alerts, despite government announcements, and described recent statements as misleading.
ASUU stressed that what its members need is actual payments, not press releases, as the union prepares for its NEC meeting.
Outstanding issues include withheld salaries, wage arrears, promotion arrears, and other entitlements, which remain unresolved.
He disclosed that the union had given the government a deadline of November 21, 2025, to meet its demands, failing which it may resume its suspended strike.
The union’s firm stance has reignited debates across Nigeria’s academic community, with many closely watching whether further industrial action will be initiated should the government fail to deliver on its promises.

BREAKING: Nigerian Filling Stations Reduce Fuel Price As Landing Cost Drops

Filling stations across Nigeria have reduced the pump price of premium motor spirit following a further drop in the landing cost of petrol below Dangote Refinery’s ex-depot price.

According to Daily Post, it was gathered on Wednesday that NIPCO, AA Rano, Eterna, and Empire Energy filling stations across locations in Abuja have reduced their fuel pump price.

NIPCO and AA Rano dropped their fuel price to N940 per litre, down from between N950 and N955.

Similarly, Eterna and Empire Energy retail outlets dispense at N945 and 955 from N955 and N959, respectively.

This means that the filling stations in Abuja reduced their petrol pump prices between N4 and N10 per litre.

It was earlier reported that NNPCL retail outlets in Abuja adjusted their pump price downward to N945 per litre, up from N955.

Meanwhile, at other filling stations, including MRS (Dangote Petrol) and Ranoil, retail petrol prices have remained unchanged at N950 and N955 per litre, respectively, as of Thursday morning.

“We may reduce our price in the evening or so, but at the moment we still dispense fuel at N950 per litre,”
an MRS filling station manager in Abuja told DAILY POST in anonymity.

This comes days after energy prices data released on November 3, 2025, by the Major Energy Marketers Association of Nigeria showed that the price of the landing cost of petrol dropped N827.04 per litre.

This is a drop from N829.77 recorded at the end of last month.

Checks on petrol ex-depot prices showed that Dangote Refinery stood at N872, Pinnacle (N872), NIPCO (N870), BOVAS (N870), Aiteo (N870), and AA Rano (N870). This made Dangote Refinery’s N2 more expensive than depot owners such as NIPCO, AA Rano, and BOVAS, according to Petroleumpricing.

Also, the petrol landing cost at N827.04 per litre is N44.96 cheaper than Dangote Refinery’s ex-depot price for petrol, which stood at N872 per litre.

This comes as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced that he has given approval to a 15 per cent import duty tax on petrol and diesel to encourage Dangote Refinery.

The decision by marketers and stakeholders confirmed it would increase imported fuel prices when implemented in the coming days.

I Predicted Mass US Visa, Green Card Revocations – Soyinka

Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has said he predicted mass revocation of visas and green cards by the United States Government.

In an interview published by BBC News Pidgin on Facebook on Wednesday, the world-acclaimed writer, whose visa was recently revoked by the US, said he knew that once Donald Trump got into office as President, “the first thing he will do is cancel even the green cards.”

Soyinka said, “This is a petty-minded dictator, you see how he deals with his objects of hate. We saw that dark side of the American side. There were more killings, extrajudicial killings by the police of black people, of minorities, during that build-up, during the campaign, and on account of hate rhetoric, the hate rhetoric of this individual.

“I saw it and I said, listen very carefully — and you can go and check this –I said, ‘When that man comes to power, the first thing he will do is cancel even the green cards’.”

Soyinka’s comment comes amid diplomatic tension between Nigeria and the US after Trump at the weekend designated Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern,” citing alleged Christian genocide in the country.

Trump, in a series of X posts, also warned that if the Nigerian government fails to stop killings, the US would intervene militarity, coming into Nigeria ‘gun-ablazing’, a comment that has generated widespread panic and pushback both locally and internationally.

Soyinka, a vocal critic of Trump, had threatened ahead of Trump’s first inauguration to tear his Green Card once Trump was sworn in, a threat the Nobel laureate has since carried out.

“I have already done it, I have disengaged (from the United States). I have done what I said I would do,” Soyinka, who was 82 years old, said then on the sidelines of an education conference at the University of Johannesburg, according to AFP.

He added, “I had a horror of what is to come with Trump… I threw away the (green) card, and I have relocated, and I’m back to where I have always been” – meaning his homeland, Nigeria.

In July this year,  the US Department of State announced an update to its non-immigrant visa policy for Nigerian citizens.

According to a press release issued by the U.S. Embassy in Abuja, “most non-immigrant and non-diplomatic visas issued to citizens of Nigeria will be single-entry visas with a three-month validity period.”

Soyinka had, during a media parley last Tuesday in Lagos, disclosed the revocation of his B1/B2 visa by the US Embassy.

The US Consulate announced the revocation of the visa in a letter addressed to Soyinka dated October 23, 2025.

The Consulate further requested Soyinka to bring his visa to the Lagos Embassy “for physical cancellation,” a request the Nobel laureate described as “a joke.”

“If you have plans to travel to the United States, you must apply again to re-establish your qualifications for a new non-immigrant visa,”
the letter added.

While Soyinka said he did not know the reason for the revocation of his visa, the US Mission in Nigeria clarified last Thursday in response to an inquiry from The PUNCH that visas granted by the country are a privilege, not a right.

While the Mission noted that it would not discuss details of individual visas, its spokesperson said, “Visas are a privilege, not a right. Every country, including the United States, can determine who enters its borders. Visas may be revoked at any time, at the discretion of the U.S. government, whenever circumstances warrant.”

Speaking further in the interview with the BBC, Soyinka, who had vowed that he would never reapply for a US visa, said he had since left the country because he would not allow himself to be “kicked out.”

“I said I’m not going to wait to be told to come for a reinterview or simply told, ‘Get out! The green card is cancelled!’ That’s all. People failed to understand. Even though I said it, people failed to accept it. I said I don’t like to be kicked out; I like to kick myself out, it’s more dignified,”
the 91-year-old author and playwright said.

He said he knew he would not be able to resist comments on the Trump administration.

“I knew I would not be able to resist making comments on what I knew would happen, and sure enough, he did not disappoint me.”

The Nobel laureate also touched on an incident that happened prior to the revocation of his visa. He spoke of how he got a letter from the US Internal Revenue Service notifying him of a tax audit.

“After he took office, I got a letter from the IRS telling me to report for an audit. The coincidence for me was very impressive,”
he said.

Soyinka had during the media parley in Lagos, given an insight into the tax audit, which he said he had no problem with.

He told journalists, “I think it’s important for me to begin by reminding us about the history of this visa, which was issued when an accident happened to my Green Card, so it became no longer valid.

“Unfortunately, or fortunately, whichever way you want to look at it, not long after that, maybe by accident or maybe it’s related or not, I got a letter from the Internal Revenue Service of the United States of America saying that an audit of my tax return was about to take place, going back about five years.”

He noted that audits are done periodically just to make sure one is not cheating, “and that’s okay.”

He narrated, “So I went to the embassy to say this is the letter I just received from the Internal Revenue Service. My Green Card is no longer usable. I don’t want to be advertised as a tax dodger owing the United States money and being chased all over the world with letters and police, and I said I needed to go in and see the audit, and that’s exactly what happened.”

Soyinka has maintained that he has no issue with members of the US Embassy or the American people, as he noted he was always treated with courtesy anytime he was at the embassy.
