A UNIZIK lecturer gave birth to septuplets and is asked to pay a N19 million hospital bill.

Mrs. Ngozi Uzodike, a lecturer at Anambra state’s Nnamdi Azikiwe University, gives birth to septuplets (seven children).

It was learned that the newly made mother bore two boys and five girls. However, one of the girls did not survive.

The lady who teaches in the department of Business Administration in the institution was delivered of the seven infants on Sunday, 8th January, 2023 at the Obijackson Women and Children Hospital, Okija.

It was gathered that the family was charged 19 million naira as the hospital bill.

While the development is a happy one, the mother of seven lamented that they hadn’t been paid salary since 2020.

Her husband, Mr. Celestine Uzodike, who spoke to reporters on Wednesday revealed that his wife was employed by the institution as a lecturer, but had not received payment since.

The man bemoaned the fact that, even though his wife had been promoted from Assistant Lecturer to Lecturer II, his she had never received a salary of even one kobo.

He appealed to the FG to pay the two-year salary arrears owed to his wife and assist them as they can’t settle the bills of all the kids alone.

“The babies came out prematurely at 26th week gestation period and the hospital said they will need to be placed under intensive care unit and each of them will cost N3million. One of them has died, remaining six babies, that is why they billed us like that.”

Mrs Uzodike, who was weak to speak following her delivery, stated, “All I want is for philanthropists both in Anambra State and Nigeria at large to come to our aid in other to offset the hospital bill.”

There are now 60% more Nigerians generating millions on YouTube.

According to the company, the number of Nigerians earning seven figures or more in naira annually through YouTube has climbed by 60% year over year.

When announcing the recipients of the 2023 Black Voice Fund, the company disclosed this. According to the article, there are currently over 650 Nigerian YouTube channels with more than 100,000 subscribers, and 35 of those have more than one million.

Nigeria’s dominance was further demonstrated by the data, which showed that South Africa and Kenya only had 300 and 400 channels, respectively. The percentage of YouTube channels in Nigeria earning seven figures or more per year (in Naira) has increased by more than 60% year over year.

“Over 650 channels in Nigeria now have more than 100,000 members, a growth of more than 50% annually. 35 channels in Nigeria already have more than one million subscribers, a 50% year-over-year growth. More than 75% of the time spent watching content created by Nigerian broadcasters is outside of Nigeria.

The company claims that whereas South African channels with six figures or more in revenue (ZAR) increased by over 40%, the number of Kenyan channels with seven figures or more in revenue increased by over 60%.

The company revealed their 2023 #YouTubeBlack Voices, which includes 15 Nigerians, 15 South Africans, and 10 Kenyan creators, to enhance its expansion efforts on the continent.

According to YouTube, these producers would receive seed financing between $20,000 and $50,000, committed partner support for six months, and the chance to take part in programs throughout the year.

“We are pleased about the creators, musical artists, and producers from Africa joining others from all around the world in the 2023 #YouTubeBlack Voices Fund,” stated Alex Okosi, Managing Director, YouTube EMEA, Emerging Markets.

The project aims to provide aspiring black innovators and artists with the tools they need to flourish on our platform. The development of the African creative scene is something that we are very interested in. We will continue beyond the first training to quantify our performance with the creators, artists, composers, and producers who will be a part of this third cohort, ensuring that they achieve sustainable success.

The forty artists from Sub-Saharan Africa will be among the 135 #YouTubeBlack Voices creators that were chosen internationally, according to the company. It further stated that over the next few years, the #YouTubeBlack Voices Fund would invest in over 500 creators and artists from across the world in order to support, expand, and fund the creation of their channels and content.

Sowore dispels the myth that he is a CIA operative.

Omoyele Sowore, a media personality and presidential contender for the African Action Congress (AAC), has refuted allegations that she is a spy for the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

On Sunday, November 13, Sowore and three other candidates spoke at a town hall gathering where the allegation was debunked.

The presidential candidate was questioned by a member of the audience at the town hall meeting hosted by Arise TV in association with the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) about if he was a CIA operative.

In response, Sowore claimed that if he was a CIA spy, President Muhammadu Buhari would have “disappeared” as a result of his detention by DSS agents in Lagos on August 3, 2019.

He added that despite having resided in the US for more than 20 years, he has not yet accepted citizenship.

Sowore declared;

“I am not a CIA agent, if I was, Buhari would have disappeared from the surface of the earth when he detained me. You cannot do that with CIA agent. I am a Nigerian, I have not even accepted a US citizenship and I have lived there for 20 years.”

Court sentences the head of EFCC to kuje prison

The chairman of the efcc, Adbulrasheed Bawa, was found guilty of contempt of court by an Abuja high court that was sitting in Maitama.

The anti-graft agency’s disregard for a previous court ruling led to the conviction of the efcc chairman on Tuesday.

The defendant was Air Vice Marshal Rufus Adeniyi Ojuawo, a former director of operations for the Nigerian Army Force (NAF), and the court had ordered the efcc to return his range rover and N40 million to him.

Ojuawo was charged by the efcc with two counts in 2016 in Nyanya before Justice Muawiyah Baba Idris of the High court of the FCT. He was charged with accepting N40 million from a man named Hima Aboubakar, along with a range rover sport (supercharged).

Using my military’s “oath of fealty,” I refuted the #LekkiMassacre: General Enenche

General John Enenche has sought to clarify his behavior in denying the #LekkiMassacre while serving as the Director of Defence Information in response to requests for his removal from the Labour Party presidential campaign council.

In a statement issued Friday night, Mr. Enenche, a retired major general, claimed that his actions as a former military spokesman were motivated by the “overriding interest of Nigerians at heart” as evidenced by the pledge of fealty he took while entering the military.

Widespread criticism from supporters who take offense with Mr. Enenche’s intervention in the wake of the Lekki Tollgate incident resulted from his inclusion on the list of a 1,234-member strong campaign council for the Peter Obi-Yusuf Datti presidential campaign for the 2023 elections.

Nigerian military opened fire on unarmed #EndSARS protesters on October 20, 2020, when they gathered at the Lekki Tollgate to call for an end to police brutality, which was primarily carried out by the now-defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad. Many protesters reportedly died after being shot by government officials while kneeling on the ground, singing the national anthem, and displaying the Nigerian flag.

The federal and Lagos governments still deny that any people died as a result of the unnecessary military action. In the midst of the debate, Mr. Enenche also asserted that DJ Switch’s live broadcast of a protester who had been there at the site on that tragic night had been “photoshopped.”

When they learned that Mr. Enenche was being included in the current #EndSARS movement, many of the demonstrators who are now the main forces behind the Peter Obi presidential campaign grew incensed.

However, Mr. Enenche insists that each person who spoke out about the contentious #LekkiMassacre topic did so based on the information that was accessible to them.

Following my appointment to the Labour Party’s campaign council, there were responses on social media to my statement regarding a video taken on October 20, 2020, at the scene of the ENDARS incident at the Lekki toll gate, Mr. Enenche said.

According to their respective analyses and the material they had access to, “everyone who commented in any way was right. Based on the sacred oath of devotion I took while entering the military, I labored both personally and professionally with the best interests of Nigerians at heart. Through social media, I genuinely felt the pain of that breaking news, he continued.

Mr. Obi has already made hints that the party will address the concerns of its supporters and correct all “omissions and erroneous entries.”

However, Mr. Enenche claims that despite his long-standing friendships with Mr. Obi (17 years) and Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed (5 years), his running companion, he did not waver in his support for them.

“I did not back down from my decision to publicly and impartially endorse the candidacies of HE Mr. Peter Obi and Dr. Yusuf Ahmed-Datti. All based on my acquaintance with the pair for roughly 17 years and 5 years, respectively, that they can offer the Nation excellent leadership that will ensure successful followership, he said.
