Boxer, Anthony Joshua Currently Spending 4 Days Alone In A Pitch Black Room After Paying £2,000 For The Experience

Anthony Joshua, the globally-renowned British-Nigerian boxer, is currently going through a surreal experience.

The boxer is currently spending four days alone in a pitch-black room after paying £2,000 for the experience.

The style of retreat is used by various sporting stars as a method of meditation to help athletes be alone with their thoughts.

In a post on Instagram before embarking on the retreat, Joshua wrote: ‘Myself and [my friend] are about to embrace the darkness and solitude for four days (separate rooms).

‘Isolated with nothing to do except relax and clear the mind while being immersed in infinite darkness.’ He will emerge on Friday.

The 34-year-old has been fed via food passed into the room but there has been no social interaction or light all week.

NFL star Aaron Rodgers, who embarked on a similar retreat, shared his experience in March, stating: ‘It was a great reset for me, for my body and my mind,’ the 39-year-old said of the four-day excursion. ‘Maybe a little bit longer than I needed. I feel like by the time I got to the fourth day, I was like, ”Alright, I’m ready to come out”.

Gov Obaseki Swears In SAs, SSAs

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has inaugurated 44 Special Assistants (SAs) and 10 Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) in Owan West and Owan East Local Government Areas of the State.

The governor, while swearing in the new aides at the Edo State College of Education in Afuze, called for a paradigm shift in politics in the country to a new era centred on genuine service, development and bettering the lives of the people.

Obaseki said, “I am here to tell you that I care about you and it will not be business as usual. I will take care of you.

“Politics must change, politics is about the people and politicians must care for their people. Enough is enough. We cannot say we are in politics and are poorer for it. Politics must help us to get out of poverty.

“If I can come here to inaugurate you that means I don’t want you to leave here. You cannot be in Benin or Auchi and be working here. If I get a report that you are not in your base, you will get a letter from me replacing you. You are not absentee SAs or SSAs. If you know that you will not be in the community, let me know now so that I can get those ready to work for us in the party.

“It’s not just another employment but we are here to deliberately make sure that in every ward we have one SA and in some cases, one SSA. They are to take care of and be my eyes and ears in every ward. No week must pass without me getting a report through the SSA of what has happened in your ward.”

The governor further noted, “I want to know if the teachers we are paying are working. I want to know the state of our primary health care centres in each ward, and also that of security in each ward before I hear from other sources. I want to know how people are living in your ward and community. Are they able to eat? Can they go to the farm? If not, why and what can we do about them?”

On his part, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, Dr. Anthony Aziegbemi, commended the people of Owan West and East local government areas for their continuous support, which led to victory in the last local government elections in the State.

He said, “We are here in Afuze for the inauguration of Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs) to the Governor in both Owan West and Owan East local government areas. We acknowledge what you have done for the party and the role you have played in the last election that resulted in the massive win at the polls.”

Attention Seeker – Kanayo O. Kanayo Slams Reno Omokri For Taunting Peter Obi Over Mr Ibu’s Sickness

Veteran actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has taken a swipe at Reno Omokri, for dragging Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Peter Obi, over the ailment of his colleague, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu.

TORI reported that Mr Ibu recently cried out for prayers following his battle with an unnamed illness, which may lead to the amputation of his legs.

The ailing actor cried out hours after a video of his 63rd birthday in an undisclosed hospital in Lagos emerged on social media.

He revealed further that he doesn’t want to lose his legs as he has nowhere to go.

Reacting to the news of the comic actor making the rounds online, Reno Omokri, in a post via X, pointed out that Mr Ibu was a staunch supporter of Peter Obi and the LP flagbearer should support the medical bill of the thespian.

He wrote: “I sympathise with John Ikechukwu Okafor, AKA Mr. Ibu, over his ailment, and I urge all #RenosNuggeteers to donate to the account number he put out.

“Please do not ignore his cries for help. I also urge members of the public to donate. However, this is a man who publicly endorsed Peter Obi. He and his daughter danced for Peter Obi and broke the Internet.

“They went out on the streets campaigning for Obi. The same Peter Obi who boasted that he is richer than President Biden of the US, who at the time of Peter’s boast was worth $8.2 million.

“After all that John Okafor did for him, perhaps Mr. Peter Obi can support him by paying Mr. Ibu’s medical bills. I am even surprised that Peter Obi did not remember to post about Mr. Ibu on his birthday yesterday. Even at that, Peter Obi should help him in his time of need.

Displeased with Reno’s post, Kanayo O. Kanayo, while commenting on an Instagram blog post, described Reno as an attention-seeking writer, and warned people to avoid listening to him.

Ondo Assembly Asks Aiyedatiwa To Withdraw Suits

The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has been asked by the State House of Assembly, on Wednesday, to withdraw all the lawsuits filed against the impeachment process as part of the condition for settling the matter.

The Assembly had on Tuesday halted the impeachment process against the embattled deputy governor, following the intervention of the national leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress, who met with some members of the Assembly and some party leaders in Abuja.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Mr Olatunji Oshati, said, “The Speaker expressed the desire of the House leadership to further consult with members of the House cutting across party lines, on the political solution as proposed by the APC.

“The House, therefore, hopes that in the same spirit of genuine wish for a political solution, the deputy governor would take immediate steps to withdraw the multiple court cases he filed over the same impeachment.

“This would allow the stakeholders to freely discuss the settlement proposals and prevent actions or comments over a matter that is still sub judice.”

Aiyedatiwa had filed suits both in Abuja and Akure to challenge his impeachment.

Meanwhile, the Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, on Wednesday, lambasted an aide to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, Dr Doyin Odebowale, over his comments on the governor’s whereabouts.

Odebowale, who is the governor’s Special Adviser on Special Duty and Strategy, had while featuring on Channels Television’s Politics Today, on Tuesday, justified why Akeredolu had not returned to Ondo State after he came back from his prolonged medical vacation in Germany.

Responding to Odebowale’s comments on Wednesday, the Ondo PDP Publicity Secretary, Kennedy Peretei, described Odebowale’s submission as illogical.

BREAKING: 20-Year-Old UNILORIN Student Commits Suicide After Lending ‘Online Lover’ N500,000

Sanni Hameedat, a 20-year-old student of the University of Ilorin, has sadly killed herself.

She reportedly committed suicide after lending a boy she met on the social media platform, Snapchat, the sum of N500,000.

According to Rubiks, the private hostel management she resided in before her demise, in a statement made available to PUNCH Online on Wednesday, Hameedat was undergoing her SIWES programme before the incident happened.

The management asserted that the cause of her death was not unrelated to the pressure from the app agents, who were demanding fast repayment, coupled with her brother’s inability to assist her financially, which led to depression.

“The cause of Suicide was traced to financial misappropriation. She was entrusted with a significant sum of money by her mother. She crossed paths with a guy on Snapchat and developed a friendship.

“When the boy claimed that his mother was battling breast cancer and urgently needed N500,000, the compassionate and emotional lady decided to help him by lending him half of the N1 million she held for her mother. And the boy promised to repay the borrowed money.

“However, when her mother needed the money back, the boy abruptly cut off all up all contact, blocking her. This left her deeply troubled and in order for her to make up the missing N500,000, she resorted to borrowing money from various apps.”

Hameedat, therefore, managed to gather N450,000 from the loan apps, adding her savings of N50,000 to make up the borrowed N500,000.

The management further maintained that she was reported to have ingested a bottle of pesticide popularly known as Sniper the previous night, and her roommate (name withheld), who had retired to bed early, woke up in the middle of the night to discover her in distress while she was foaming from her mouth and also vomiting.

“Alarmed, the roommate sought help, and she was rushed to UITH before being declared dead,” the statement concluded.

Meanwhile, both the Dean, Student Affairs Unit, Prof M.T. Yakubu, and the Head, Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun of the institution, could not comment on the issue in terse messages sent to them as they both claimed to be partaking in the 37th and 38th combined convocation ceremony which kickstarted on Monday, October 16, 2023.

But when our correspondent contacted the Student Union President, Ologundudu Adesunkanmi, popularly called Royal Prince, he confirmed the incident, corroborating the narration of the hostel management.

He said, “The Vice-Chancellor, Dean of Student Affairs are very much aware of the issue, and they have reported to the appropriate authority to begin a full-length investigation into the matter. It is sad that the university community lost her in such a devastating manner.”
