Nedu Wazobia urges Nigerians to vote wisely amid rising cost of living

Nigerian media personality Nedu Wazobia has spoken out about the country’s economic challenges, urging Nigerians to register to vote and make informed decisions during elections.

 

Nedu noted the rising cost of rent, food and transportation, noting that salaries have not increased at the same pace. He also raised concerns about access to healthcare and insecurity, describing the situation as difficult for millions of Nigerians.

 

He referenced a financial services firm’s reported finding that only about 2.4 per cent of Nigerian workers earn more than ₦200,000 monthly, using the figure to highlight concerns about income and the rising cost of living.

 

Encouraging Nigerians to participate in elections, Nedu urged those who had not registered to do so and those who already had their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to use them responsibly.

 

He said voters should look beyond party colours and personal preferences, and instead consider candidates’ plans, track records and ability to address the country’s challenges.

“Your voice matters. I want a Nigeria where hard work can give you a decent life. Where our children can dream. Where you can travel without fear, where to chop food no go hard and security no be luxury. Nigeria na all of us get am,” he said.

The Grammy-nominated singer performed on Sunday, October 11, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the Week Five fixture between the Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Ayra Starr thrilled the audience with a medley of her popular songs, including Rush, Santa, Heaven Baby, Hot Body and Dangerous, alongside tracks from her latest project, Starrgirl.

Nicki Minaj calls for more attention to violence against Christians in Nigeria

American rapper Nicki Minaj has called on celebrities, influencers and other public figures to speak out about violence against Christians in Nigeria.

Minaj, who said her Nigerian pastor had helped establish her connection to the country, noted that she also had many Nigerian fans, popularly known as Barbz.

“My pastor is from Nigeria, so I have a link to Nigeria because of him and I have a lot of Nigerian Barbz. Why isn’t anyone making a big deal out of the brutality in which Christians are being treated in Nigeria?” she said.

The rapper suggested that some issues receive little public attention because they are not considered popular topics of discussion.

“Sometimes when things aren’t cool to talk about, people just don’t talk about it,” she added, expressing hope that more celebrities, influencers and other prominent figures would speak about the situation.

Geh Geh gives OGB 24 hours to remove his Lamborghini from Lagos streets

Social media personality Geh Geh has thrown shade at OGB over his Lamborghini, giving him 24 hours to remove the vehicle from the streets of Lagos.

In a video making the rounds online, Gehgeh repeatedly called out OGB before warning him about the car’s alleged unusual appearance and movement.

“OGB! OGB! OGB! How many times I call you? I’m giving you 24 hours carry that your Lamborghini ‘Man sorry’ from the street of Lagos. If not, if that car injure anybody, I’ll sue you to international court,” he said.

He went on to mock the vehicle, claiming that Nigerians were moving in one direction while the Lamborghini appeared to be moving in another.

“Lamborghini wey I know dey sleep for ground. E reach your turn, your Lamborghini dey beg for forgiveness because you want to impress Nigerians,” Gehgeh added.

His remarks appeared to be a sarcastic jab at OGB’s car, with Gehgeh humorously warning that the vehicle could pose a danger to people on the streets.

He said people put more into friendships because real friendship means you actually like the other person and enjoy their company.

A romantic relationship has a physical side, but friendship is mostly about companionship and good times together.

He also said it can be hard to trust someone new after a friendship ends.

“So if the thing ends, don’t worry, you will get a new girlfriend before you get a new friend,” he joked.

He added that after a friendship breaks, many people do not want to start another close one, unless they are the type who calls everyone a friend.

Banky W Finds New Purpose After Losing 2023 Election

Banky W says losing the 2023 election pushed him to look to God for direction.

The singer and music executive, who is 45, shared the story in an online post marking his first year at Union Church, where he is an associate pastor.

He ran for the Eti-Osa federal seat under the PDP in 2023 but lost to Thaddeus Attah of the Labour Party.

He says the loss hurt, but it also gave him time to think about what comes next.

He says he was unsure whether to focus on politics, music, business or ministry.

Over time he realised he did not have to pick just one. He says God was not trying to fit him into a box but was giving him more to do.

He now serves as an associate pastor at Union Church and also teaches and leads at Union College.

He travels between Lagos and the Washington, DC area, which he says is tiring but worth it.

In 2024 he moved to the United States with his family to study public administration.

He says family, faith and purpose were his reasons.

Banky W co-founded the EME record label in 2002 with his friend Tunde Demuren.

The label has worked with Wizkid, Niyola, Shaydee and Skales.

He married actress Adesua Etomi in South Africa in November 2017.

They have two children, Hazaiah, born in 2021, and Hezekiah, born in 2024.

Davido Sister Reveals Surprising Truth About Her Family Wealth

Sharon Ademefun, Davido’s older sister, says she had no idea her family had money until she turned 21 and moved to Nigeria.

She said she grew up living a normal life outside of school.

Speaking on The Fashion Roundtable, she said she worked during high school, cleaning changing rooms and earning five pounds a week.

Her father, she said, gave the children just enough so they would not get used to having money.

She also worked for almost five years as a babysitter while in college.

She said people in Nigeria were surprised when they learned about her background.

Sharon also shared that her father once queued with the family at Disney parks like any other visitor.

She says she prefers VIP tickets now when she takes her own kids, joking that she is “not queuing for anybody.”

She describes her father as a humble man who did not show off his wealth.

She also said he has lately started encouraging her children to be proud of their family name.

She joked that the 30BG slogan associated with Davido seems to have rubbed off on him.
