Nigerian food influencer, Hilda Baci has made headlines as her world’s largest jollof cook-off commences.

Recall that Hilda Baci announced her plans to embark on the record-breaking attempt via an Instagram post on August 22, 2025.

 

The record-breaking event is undeway at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

Hilda Baci Attempts To Cook World’s Largest Jollof Rice

A video from Hilda Baci’s YouTube channel with over 60,000 subscribers, showcases the event’s planning and the massive crowd.

In May 2023, Hilda Baci made headlines for her cooking marathon, which was dethroned by Alan Fisher’s record of 119 hours and 57 minutes.

Prior to Hilda Baci’s cooking marathon, the longest cooking marathon record was held by Lata Tondon.

Lata Tondon’s cooking marathon lasted 87 hours and 45 minutes. She prepared non-stop, cooking over 1,600 kilograms of food grains, 400 vada-pavs, 250 sandwiches, and other local delicacies.

The dishes were served to  thousands of people, including children from orphanages and old age homes.

Why I Want To Relocate To Lagos – American Rapper, DDG

American rapper Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., better known as DDG, has announced plans to relocate to Lagos, Nigeria, amid his ongoing custody battle with ex-girlfriend Halle Bailey over their 17-month-old son, Halo.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), DDG wrote,“I’m so tired of living in LA.

“I can’t wait til I move to Lagos, Nigeria.”

The rapper had earlier hinted in January 2025 that he was considering leaving the US for either London or Lagos, citing dissatisfaction with life in America.

The custody battle between DDG and Bailey has been highly publicised, with Bailey previously alleging physical and emotional abuse and obtaining a temporary restraining order against DDG.

Actress Omotunde Sogunle aka Motunde has opened up that false rumour claiming she was pregnant for Mr Macaroni broke her.
Recall that she’s popular for her role in Mr. Macaroni’s comedy skits.
In a recent interview, the actress recounted how she was accused of getting pregnant for her on-screen father, Mr. Macaroni, and allegedly terminating the pregnancy- a claim she described as “shocking and impossible.”
“They said I got pregnant for my on-screen daddy – Mr. Macaroni – and that I aborted the pregnancy. I was shocked. When did that happen? It is not possible. Must there be such a thing between people in a working relationship? I was really devastated then,”she said.
Motunde, however, added that she has since moved on from the incident and now laughs about it with the skitmaker.
“One of the things I have learned from Mr. Macaroni is to keep your silence for your own peace. The more you come out to counter false claims, the longer the matter drags and you will have to keep explaining,” she noted.
The actress, who has steadily built a fan base through her role as Macaroni’s ‘daughter,’ said the episode has made her more resilient and careful about handling controversies in the entertainment industry.

Hilda Baci Shows Off Quantity of Ingredients For World’s Largest Jollof Rice

Celebrity chef, Hilda Baci has shared a video showing the quantity of ingredients required to cook the world’s largest jollof rice.
Recall that she’s attempting to cook the world’s largest pot of jollof rice which has already kicked off this Friday.
Earlier, she shared a video showing her cleaning the 22,619-litre pot, roughly 6 meters in diameter for the jollof rice.
The ingredients include sacks of pepper, tomatoes, onions, kegs of vegetable oil, seasoning cubes, tomato purée and many others, all in large quantities. There is no doubt that a cook-off of this magnitude will require a sufficient number of hired hands to handle unwrapping of seasoning cubes, sorting and cleaning of pepper and tomatoes, dicing of onions and many more.
The event, held in Lagos, is set to combine culinary spectacle with community service. Hilda plans to use 250 bags of rice in the massive pot, which she hopes to fill to about 80%.

Hilda Baci Begins Guinness World Record Attempt to Cook Largest Pot of Jollof Rice

Celebrity chef, Hilda Baci has officially began her attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
He aim is to cook about 250 bags of rice.
The record-breaking cook, who gained global recognition in 2023 after smashing the record for the longest cooking marathon, launched the ambitious attempt in Eko hotels, Lagos before a lively crowd of fans and supporters.
Before the cooking commenced, Hilda and her mother were seen praying together, asking for divine strength, protection, and endurance throughout the process.
The touching scene drew emotional cheers from spectators, many of whom credited her mother as a key pillar of Hilda’s journey.
“Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself. In just a few hours, this same pot will carry thousands of servings of Nigerian Jollof history in the making,” she wrote.
The event, which was initially planned for Muri Okunola Park, was moved to Eko Hotel due to overwhelming interest, with over 20,000 people registering to attend.

Yhemolee Reacts to Claims His Wife Assaulted Interior Decorator

Singer and socialite Yhemolee has reacted to allegations that his wife, Thaylor B, and her friends physically assaulted interior decorator Queen Akeredolu.
It was alleged that the assault took place over Akeredolu’s alleged romantic ties with the singer.
Blogger Cutie Juls had first reported the news.
However, in a press statement released Wednesday, Akeredolu said she was lured to a Lekki address on Saturday, September 6, where she was allegedly attacked by Thaylor B, her sister, and three friends—Tiwa, Treasure, and Funke.
According to Akeredolu, the women accused her of having an affair with Yhemolee, assaulted her with belts and other objects, tore her clothing, and damaged her personal belongings, including an iPhone 16 Pro, wig, glasses, and clothes.
She added that she had previously worked with Thaylor on a project in June and was invited for a follow-up job, which led her to the meeting. She denied any romantic involvement with Yhemolee and stated that the matter is now in the hands of her lawyers and relevant authorities.
Reacting on Thursday via Snapchat, Yhemolee shared a screenshot of a friend’s comment saying, “If you enter Cutie Juls comment section, you go kpai person.”
He followed up with a post adding, “Bro this is just too funny pls 🤣🤣🤣.”
 
The socialite also shared a video of himself and Thaylor B at an outing, along with a fan message praising his growth and resilience. He captioned it: “baba ni baba Amirion 💪🏽🙌🏾 9yrs career strong!”

According to him, he will never retire from music.
The 39-year-old stated that he would rather embrace being an up-and-coming artist than quitting music.

Actor Bolanle Ninalowo Reacts After Being Accused Of $5,000 Romance Scam

Nollywood actor Bolanle Ninalowo has taken to his Facebook to react after being accused of scamming a woman $5,000.
Reacting, the 45-year-old actor shared a screenshot of an email from the woman, who said she had been tricked by someone pretending to be him.
She detailed that she had evidence of the alleged scam, including emails, pictures, and bank transactions, and was preparing to take the matter to her attorney.
Ninalowo clarified that he was not involved and warned his followers that many scammers are using his name to deceive people.
He urged anyone engaging in online relationships with individuals claiming to be him to be careful, noting that these impersonators could target anyone at any time.
He wrote: “So after this madam realizes she has been scammed, then she does her due diligence to find the REAL Bolanle Ninalowo,s IG & Email and ever since, na so so emails of threat & accusations!
 
“I really hope you & many others who fall victim to these impersonators WAKE UP 😥 Note: if anyone on this Gods own earth is in a current or about to initiate an online relationship with any one of the many supposed ME’s, YOU ARE BEING SCAMMED or are about to!
