“Being a Nigerian makes you believe some things are difficult to achieve” — Man says

A man has sparked discussions online after claiming that his Caribbean passport helped him obtain approval for a UK travel authorisation in less than a minute, contrasting the experience with the lengthy visa application process he encountered using his Nigerian passport.

In a viral video, the man displayed his Caribbean passport and recounted how he decided to check the UK travel requirements after a conversation with a woman who suggested they travel to the United Kingdom.

According to him, he initially expressed concern that he did not have a visa. However, the woman reportedly pointed out that his Caribbean passport might make the process easier.

Compares UK and Canadian visa applications

The man said he decided to apply for the UK electronic travel authorisation (ETA) online and was surprised by how quickly he received approval.

He explained that the approval came almost immediately after he completed and submitted the application.

“I applied for UK visa and ETA online. I got an approval in less than two minutes, less than one minute. Immediately I filled the application, I submitted, I just got a mail that I’ve been approved,” he said.

He attributed the quick approval to his Caribbean passport, although he did not specify the country that issued it.

The man also compared the experience with his previous attempt to obtain a Canadian visa using his Nigerian passport.

According to him, the Canadian visa application took between six and seven months before approval, prompting him to consider applying again with his other passport.

He said the subsequent application took approximately four weeks, after which he received a six-year visa.

Advises young Nigerians to invest in passports

Reflecting on his experiences, the man encouraged young Nigerians who have the financial means to consider obtaining a second passport rather than spending their money on what he described as unnecessary activities.

“If you’re a young man and you have money, please, instead of using your money to go to the club and spend your money on all these unnecessary things, use the money to go and get this passport. It will save you a lot of stress,” he said.

He added that people who had followed his previous advice were pleased with the outcome and expressed confidence that others could benefit from similar experiences.

However, the ease of obtaining travel authorisation depends on the passport holder’s nationality, the destination country’s immigration rules and individual eligibility.

His account does not establish that all Caribbean passport holders receive automatic or immediate approval.
