Singer, Portable Escape Police Arrest After Allegedly Ass@ulting Baby Mama, Ashabi Simple

Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has reportedly evaded police arrest following an alleged assault on his fourth baby mama, actress Ashabi Simple.

The incident reportedly happened on Thursday, January 1, 2026 during Ashabi’s visit to his bar in Ogun state.

In a viral video of the incident online, Ashabi, who was seen holding the singer’s cloth saying she’s tired of being called his baby mama, insisted that Portable must also recognise her as his wife.

She said: “Oya Pami baby, I’m also your wife, you’ve to stop calling me your baby mama.”

Portable immediately pushed her and replied that he only recognises his wife, Bewaji, noting that other women that have kids with him are baby mamas.

“I only have one wife, the rest of you are just baby mamas,” the singer said.

His response escalated the altercation with Ashabi responding emotionally “Then you will have to k!ll me, baby.”

After the commotion, the actress and her siblings reported Portable to the police for assault and abuse.

Speaking in a video on Instagram, Ashabi revealed that the police met Portable’s pregnant wife, Bewaji at home as Portable escaped arrest.

“I celebrated the new year in a happy mood with my family. You are the one that called me that you’re in a bad mood, and I told you that I went to my dad’s house for the new year. And you asked me to bring new year food for you and I said ok.

“I called you when I got to your bar, and you asked me to meet you outside. When I got there, we had a minor disagreement and you slapped me, beat me up, seized our phones and threatened my siblings and I with axe,”she alleged.

Reacting to the fight, many Nigerians berated her for forcing herself on him, while some said she has low self esteem.

I Don’t Want To Run In The Mud With You – Nollywood Actress, Anita Joseph Replies Estranged Husband

Popular Nollywood actress Anita Joseph has issued a warning to her ‘ex’ following her marriage breakup with Nigerian hypeman Fisayo Olagunju, popularly known as MC Fish.

Earlier, 626Blaze reported that Anita’s social media post follows MC Fish’s clarification of his profession and his role in their union.

MC Fish, in a series of posts via his Instagram story on Saturday, said Anita had ‘wooed’ him and their conversation led to marriage.

Fisayo dismissed claims that he did not earn a living and relied on his estranged wife during the marriage, stressing that he has worked as an MC and hype man for over 15 years.

MC Fish also expressed displeasure over claims that Anita Joseph singlehandedly paid the bills throughout their five-year marriage, insisting that he contributed significantly and worked for his money.

He further defended the profession of hypemen, noting that many people who criticise it still hire them for their events and parties, adding that if there were no future in his job, Anita Joseph would not have agreed to marry him.

A few minutes after her estranged husband’s outburst, Anita, in a post via her Instagram page, warned her ‘ex’ against dragging her into any social media fight.

She wrote, “Memo to my Ex. I don’t want to run in the mud with you. Please this is a new year, if you have whatever you want to say, please say it now and let me get on with my life.

“I don’t know who you are fighting with online but please leave me out of whatever you are fighting… This is new year is growth and positivity for me.

“Stop dragging me with your mess. Leave me alone.”

Why Nigerians May Be Banned From All Countries – Shehu Sani

Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has warned that unless urgent action is taken, Nigerians could face bans from the rest of the world in the near future.

Sani issued this warning in a post via his official X handle on Saturday, in response to the deportation of Nigerians by the Canadian government.

626Blaze reports that Canada deported no fewer than 366 Nigerians between January and October 2025, as the country stepped up immigration enforcement at its fastest pace in more than a decade.

Reacting, the former lawmaker said: “Canada has been a second home to thousands of Nigerians who live, study, or work there. It’s the most liberal country when it comes to immigration and accommodating Nigerians.

“The recent deportations of Nigerians from Canada are a wake-up call. Our unscrupulous citizens, involved in crime and abusing the benevolence and generosity of the Canadian people, are not helpful to our country’s image.

“We either tackle the few among us, or we may wake up one day banned by the rest of the world.”

Anthony Joshua Returns To UK After Car Crash In Nigeria

Renowned heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua has returned to the United Kingdom following a fatal auto crash in Nigeria that claimed the lives of his close associates.

Recall that the car conveying him last Monday rammed into a stationary truck along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The former world heavyweight champion’s personal trainer, Kevin Latif Ayodele, and his strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami, died in the accident.

The Nigeria-born British boxer survived the crash after sustaining minor injuries and was taken to a hospital in Lagos.

He was, however, discharged from a Nigerian hospital on New Year’s Eve.

Meanwhile, the funerals for Ghami and Ayodele are scheduled to be held at a London mosque on Sunday.

The police confirmed that Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and operating a vehicle without a valid licence.

House Of Reps Releases Tax Reform Acts To Address Discrepancy

The National Assembly has issued the Certified True Copies (CTCs) of four landmark tax reform Acts recently signed into law by President Bola Tinubu, making them available for public record, verification, and reference.

House of Representatives Spokesman Akin Rotimi said the release was directed by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen.

He explained that the documents include the endorsement and assent pages personally signed by the President.

According to Rotimi, the decision followed public concerns and allegations about possible alterations to the laws, as well as the circulation of unauthorised and misleading versions.

The release, he said, is intended to eliminate doubts, restore clarity, and protect the integrity of the legislative process.

The four Acts released are: The Nigeria Tax Act, 2025; The Nigeria Tax Administration Act, 2025; The National Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, 2025; and The Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Act, 2025.

Rotimi stressed that the National Assembly remains vigilant in safeguarding the sanctity of its legislative work, noting that only the certified and officially released versions constitute the authentic and authoritative tax laws.

He disclosed that the House’s attention was drawn to inconsistencies in versions of the tax laws in circulation after a member identified discrepancies and formally raised the issue on a point of privilege.

Acting swiftly, the Speaker ordered an internal verification and the immediate public release of the certified Acts.

Rotimi added that, from the initiation of the tax reform process through extensive stakeholder consultations, committee scrutiny, clause-by-clause consideration, plenary debates, and eventual passage, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen provided firm leadership to ensure the reforms were evidence-based, inclusive, and aligned with Nigeria’s fiscal realities and development priorities.

He noted that the Speaker consistently emphasised that tax reform must be anchored on clarity, fairness, and strict adherence to constitutional and parliamentary procedures.

The four Acts, Rotimi said, form the backbone of Nigeria’s contemporary tax reform architecture, designed to modernise revenue administration, improve compliance, reduce inefficiencies, eliminate duplication, and strengthen fiscal coordination across the federation.

Charles Inojie, the ace Nollywood actor, was left pleasantly surprised after his colleague, Shaffy Bello, publicly praised his artistry and contributions to the movie industry.

Shaffy Bello, during a recent interview with media personality VJ Adams, was asked about her favourite action-comedy actors in Hollywood and Nollywood.

In response, the thespian named the late Nollywood actor, Sam Loco, her favourite Nollywood comedy actor, and Samuel L. Jackson her Hollywood favourite.

She said, “Please bring me Sam Loco. I will bring his spirit back if I could bring anybody back”.

Also praising Charles Inojie, Shaffy Bello said his talents are innate, stressing that they cannot be taught or learnt.

She added, “His timing. People don’t get that, you can’t teach it, or could learn it. It is just innate”

Reacting via his Instagram page, Inojie said he was literally dumbfounded by such glowing validation from an intentionally renowned and widely celebrated professional.

The movie star described Shaffy Bello’s remarks as the best New Year’s gift he has received so far.

He wrote, “Awestruck. To be honest, I’m literally dumbfounded. To receive such glowing validation from an internationally renowned and widely celebrated professional is to say the least, my best new year gift so far.

“Thank you @iamshaffybello just as I make a fresh commitment never to disappoint. I DO NOT TAKE THIS FOR GRANTED”

He said, “I’ve always maintained my lane. I dey where I dey hype when dem come toast me and e lead to a marriage, fine. Marriage no work again and the next thing woman dey feed me? I dare her to say she took care of the bills by herself in the five years of that marriage. Imbeciles everywhere.

“I’ve been an MC/hypeman for over 15 years. You will be the fool of 2026 to think that I don’t work for my money. Because you can’t afford me doesn’t mean I don’t work. I still repeat am again: if dem born una well, make una come talk am for my front. I’m still saying it say make we no start dey talk wetin we don do for that marriage. But if anybody lie for my head, masala go burst and names go flow, so make nobody whine me.

“This hypeman narrative dey annoy me sometimes. You people that insult us and call us names. when it’s time for you to have a big party, you call us, pay us. But still refuse to recognise the craft. ‘That ordinary hypeman’? SMH. Ordinary hypeman wey if una no hear for club or party, una mind no go touch ground.

“The real truth is if there was no future in the job, una so-called legendary actress no go put body. Simple! So enough of trying to slander me by my profession. Because one day una go get pikin wey go wan do this same work or something relating to it.”

Stepping Down Is Not Enough, You Must Confess What Happened To My Brother – Doris Ogala Tells Pastor Chris Okafor (Video)

Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has declined the apology offered by Pastor Chris Okafor, who recently announced a temporary break from his pastoral duties.

Earlier, Tori News reported that the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry Pastor stepped aside from handling church services.

During a recent service, a video showed the pastor telling his members that other ministers would handle church activities throughout January while he takes time off for prayers, rest, and family time.

He also stated that he and his wife had not taken time off since their wedding.

Ogala, who has been vocal about her grievances, emphasized that the pastor stepping aside is not sufficient to address the deeper issues she has raised, particularly regarding the mysterious death of her younger brother.

Ogala called on the pastor to come forward with answers and said she is determined to bring attention to the circumstances surrounding her brother’s passing.

She stated that the apology and the pastor’s temporary leave are not enough to ease her pain, and she intends to present evidence to support her claims.

She said in a video: “Many people have said that he left me and married another person, that he detained me, that he sent my nude pictures, and that he apologised, so I should let it go. It does not work like that. Chris Okafor should come and explain to me what happened to my brother. Stepping down from the church is not enough.

“I heard that he stepped down from the altar for one month and handed over to his assistant pastor, but that is not enough for me. Chris Okafor, stepping down from the altar, is not enough. You have to explain to me what happened to my brother, the role you played and how my brother was poisoned. I have all the evidence, and I am going to play everything: voice recordings and all the plots.

“You have a long battle coming. No matter what, you had no right to go that far with me. I did nothing to you. People said I should forgive, but what am I leaving behind? If I leave everything, will the money he gives me bring my brother back?

“This is just the beginning. We have not started yet, Chris. Just hold on. I will be displaying everything. You will tell me what happened to my brother. What offence did he commit? Did he have anything to do with you? Why did you hurt me this much? Stepping down from the altar is not enough for me.”

2027 Election: We’ve Not Released Timetable, Schedule Of Activities – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has firmly denied reports circulating in some quarters that it has released the timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 General Election.

The commission stated clearly that this information is false and misleading, adding that INEC has not released any timetable or schedule of activities for the 2027 General Election.

The commission reiterated that it operates strictly within the provisions of the law, citing in particular, Section 28(1) of the Electoral Act,  2022 which provides that the Commission shall publish a Notice of Election not later than 360 days before the date appointed for a general election.

“Any timetable or schedule issued outside this statutory framework cannot emanate from INEC,” a statement signed by Adedayo Oketola CPS/Media Adviser to the INEC Chairman, said.

INEC assured Nigerians that the official Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Election will be released in due course, in full compliance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) and the Electoral Act, 2022.

“When released, it will be communicated through the commission’s established and verified channels,” it added

The commission urged the public and the media to disregard the fake reports and always rely on information from INEC’s official platforms for accurate and authoritative updates.
