AFCON 2025: Algeria Heads To FIFA, CAF Submits Complaint After 2-0 Defeat To Super Eagles

The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has formally lodged a complaint with both FIFA and CAF following their 2–0 loss to Nigeria in the quarter-final of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

FAF had challenged some of the referee’s calls in the game last Saturday.

In the letter, they claimed that several officiating decisions in the match “raised serious questions” and caused widespread dissatisfaction among players, officials, and fans.

The federation described the calls as undermining the credibility of African refereeing and tarnishing the image of African football on the international stage.

The complaint included a formal request for an investigation to clarify the disputed decisions and to ensure corrective action in line with CAF and FIFA regulations.

After the game in Marrakech, Algerian and Nigerian players clashed on the field.

Fans of the Desert Foxes also vandalized some items in the stadium and had to be contained by stadium security.

On Monday, CAF already released a statement, confirming they have opened an investigation into the incidents.

It Takes More Than Just Money To Be Successful — Billionaire Daughter, Sharon Adeleke Opens Up (Video)

Sharon Adeleke, the Nigerian billionaire daughter, has shared a candid reflection on success, wealth, and self-doubt.

In a recent post, Sharon revealed that she once struggled internally, questioning why success didn’t come easily for her despite having access to opportunities, networks, and funding that many people could only dream of.

She admitted that she often compared herself to others who started businesses with just a few thousand dollars and went on to build million-dollar companies — while she, who started with far more resources, felt stuck.

According to Sharon, a conversation with her therapist helped shift her perspective.

Her therapist reminded her that “you don’t know what you don’t know,” explaining that at the time, she lacked certain lessons, awareness, and life experiences that money alone could not provide.

Nigerian Resident Doctors Suspends Nationwide Strike

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has called off its planned nationwide strike. The association cited the intervention of Vice President Kashim Shettima, who stepped in to address the pressing concerns raised by the aggrieved doctors, as the reason for suspending the strike action.

The National President of NARD, Dr Mohammad Suleiman, confirmed this after a meeting by its National Executive Council, NEC.

He said the Vice President contacted NARD leadership and issued directives that led to the resolution of several outstanding issues, while appealing for additional time to allow other matters to be addressed.

“Following his intervention, the National Executive Council, NEC, of the association convened and unanimously resolved to respect the President’s efforts and halt the strike action that was scheduled to begin on January 12. This decision was reached just a few hours ago, and more information will be communicated shortly.”

He added that a detailed communiqué outlining the resolutions and next steps would be released in the coming days.

“Once I am fully recovered, I will also address the press to explain these issues in greater detail. For now, we are giving the government additional time to act in good faith.”

The suspension offers temporary relief to millions of Nigerians who depend on public health facilities and underscores ongoing negotiations aimed at averting a full-scale disruption of medical services nationwide.

NARD had on January 3 announced plans to resume a Total, Indefinite and Complete Strike, known as TICS 2.0, from January 12.

The association said the action was due to the Federal Government’s failure to implement agreements reached with resident doctors, including those contained in a Memorandum of Understanding.

The decision to embark on the strike was taken at an Emergency National Executive Council meeting held on January 2.

I Didn’t Get Access To My Child For 3 Months – Carter Efe Shares Details Of Breakup From Babymama

Nigerian streamer Carter Efe has spoken out about a long-standing dispute with his daughter Charis’s mother, even as he celebrates his recent rise to the top of Africa’s Twitch scene.

The 28-year-old content creator, who recently became Africa’s most-followed Twitch streamer with over 500,000 followers after a collaboration with singer Davido, claimed he endured two years of personal and professional setbacks linked to issues with his former partner.

Efe in a series of posts on Instagram alleged that the woman identified as Emmanuella, frustrated his life and career, saying he trended almost daily over beating allegations that were pushed online without proof by activist Very Dark Man.

He said the controversy affected his mental health, disrupted his ability to create content, and left him financially unstable for a long period.

He also stated that he was denied access to his daughter for about three months, a situation he described as deeply painful but not strong enough to stop his grind.

According to him, the struggles pushed him to work harder with the goal of securing a better future for Charis.

Sharing photos from his early days, Efe recalled sleeping in a single room with his team while streaming to just a few viewers and hoping for a breakthrough.

He said they were later chased out of the room, an experience he described as one of the lowest points of his journey.

The streamer mocked what he described as his ex-partner’s renewed interest in his life, claiming she left for months and only resurfaced after his success as Africa’s biggest streamer.

He contrasted this with the period when he was hustling with little support.

Efe said his recent happiness and increased online activity came after he was finally able to move away from the situation.

He credited God for his progress and said he never stopped being intentional about his grind despite feeling abandoned by people close to him.

He added that he has been single for over a year and has noticed major positive changes in his life since then.

Even If It’s $100, Send For Your Son I’ll Manage – Cubana Chief Priest’s Alleged Babymama Begs Him (Video)

Kenyan woman Hellen Ati has once again appealed to Nigerian businessman Cubana Chief Priest to provide financial support for the child she claims he fathered.

The latest plea comes after her repeated demands for assistance with her son’s school fees.

In a video shared on social media, Hellen appeared emotional, with red eyes, as she asked for a small amount of money to help care for the boy.

She insisted that even a modest contribution could make a difference and expressed frustration at the businessman for not taking responsibility.

Hellen also suggested that she might take matters into her own hands if Cubana Chief Priest continues to ignore the child’s needs.

She said: “Even if you dey send me 200 dollars or 100 dollars it’s not that too much for you pascal.

“You dey ignore this baby, Pascal when I go see you..”

The ongoing dispute between the duo over paternity and financial support has played out publicly on social media for months.

Despite her repeated appeals, Cubana Chief Priest has maintained that he has no connection to Hellen Ati or the child.

Helen has consistently alleged that a one-night encounter with Cubana Chief Priest in Nigeria led to her pregnancy, a claim he has repeatedly denied.

While she insists on a DNA test, he maintains that she once rejected his invitation to come to Nigeria for the test and instead asked for financial assistance.

Why Buhari Appointed Me As Minister In 2015 — Lai Mohammed Opens Up

Lai Mohammed, a former Minister of Information and Culture, has said his appointment by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 was not a sudden decision but the culmination of years of trust, shared convictions, loyalty, and service.

Mohammed, who served as information minister for almost eight years during Buhari’s administration, disclosed this in his book, Headlines and Soundbites: Media Moments that Defined an Administration.

The book, launched in Abuja on December 17, 2025, to coincide with what would have been Buhari’s 83rd birthday, chronicles his experiences as minister under the late President.

Recalling the period after Buhari’s inauguration on May 29, 2015, Mohammed said it took a while for the former President to name his cabinet.

However, because of the trust and confidence Buhari placed in him, Mohammed was personally appointed to the Ahmed Joda-led Transition Committee in April 2015, after the other members had already been named.

The committee was tasked with liaising with the outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration to review handover notes and prepare a blueprint for the incoming government.

Mohammed detailed the telephone conversation that led to his appointment:“‘Hello,’ the voice on the line said. ‘Is this Alhaji Lai Mohammed?’ I answered in the affirmative. ‘Hold on for Mr President,’ the voice said.

“Then another voice, apparently that of the President-elect, came on the line and asked: ‘Lai, where are you?’

“‘Your Excellency, I am in Lagos.’ What are you doing in Lagos?’ he asked.

“I live in Lagos, Your Excellency,’ I replied.

“He then went straight to the reason for the call: ‘Are you not coming for the inaugural meeting of the Transition Committee in Abuja tomorrow?’

“I replied, ‘Your Excellency, I am not a member of the committee.’ He then said, ‘Ok, Tunde (Sabiu, his longtime personal assistant) will call you,’ and he hung up.

“Within the hour, I received a call from Tunde, who asked where he should deliver the letter appointing me to the transition committee,”Mohammed narrated in the book.

He said that when the committee was first named and he was not included, he did not feel left out or slighted, but was simply happy that the party had won the elections.

According to Mohammed, Buhari’s personal appointment marked the beginning of a cordial and special relationship that lasted until the former President’s death on July 13, 2025.

Mohammed also recalled that a few days before Buhari’s 100th day in office, a close confidant of the President requested him to assist the spokesmen ahead of the landmark celebration.

At that time, Buhari had not yet named his ministers but had appointed Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu as his spokespersons.

“I did not need a soothsayer to tell me that the call was a further indication of the President’s confidence in me.

“The same confidant told me on another occasion that if there was anyone the President was very sure would make his cabinet and whose portfolio he was already sure of, that person was me,” he wrote.

Mohammed said his relationship with Buhari dated back to 2012, when he requested through Mallam Nasir el-Rufai that Buhari write the foreword to his first book, Witness to History. Buhari graciously agreed, wrote the foreword, and attended the book launch.

The next encounter came during the run-up to the 2015 general election, after the merger that birthed the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mohammed, who was the opposition spokesman for the Action Congress of Nigeria and later the APC for over a decade, said he was regularly part of meetings with Buhari in Kaduna alongside his political leader, President Bola Tinubu, and Chief Bisi Akande.

He added that these long-standing interactions, built on mutual respect and shared political ideals, laid the foundation for the confidence Buhari later placed in him as minister.

“Serving in Buhari’s administration for nearly eight years allowed me to witness firsthand the former President’s dedication to discipline, integrity, and national service—values that guided my own conduct in office,”
 Mohammed said.
