How Funke Akindele’s Mum Saved My Childrens‘ Lives – Actress Iyabo Ojo Reveals

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has recounted how Funke Akindele’s late mother once intervened to protect her children.

In an Instagram post, Iyabo Ojo spoke about the support she received years ago while raising her children, Festus and Priscilla, remembering how the doctor’s care prevented a potential tragedy.

Iyabo described the late doctor as a remarkable person whose kindness and prayers went beyond her professional role.

She recalled the reassurance and protection offered by Funke’s mother during a time of fear and uncertainty, saying her intervention ensured the safety of her children.

Iyabo also reflected on the continuous guidance and spiritual support she received from the doctor, even during disagreements, noting that she always felt her presence and prayers.

She wrote, “A beautiful soul she was. I can never forget, back in 2004, how she treated Festus and Priscilla when they were little. I thought I’d lose them both, but she said, ‘No. Not on my watch.’

“A great doctor she was and an even greater prayer warrior. Even though Funke and I fought countless times, she never stopped calling me, never stopped praying for me. She’d always say, ‘Emi o da si ija iwo ati ore re o.

“One day, e ma settle e. Omo mi nigbogbo yin.’ (My spirit will stand between you and your enemies. One day, it’ll settle. My child, I love you all.)

“She was indeed a mother to all. I will always love her. Rest on, mama.”

La Liga: Lookman denied on debut as Antony stun Atletico Madrid

Ademola Lookman endured a frustrating La Ligadebut as Atletico Madrid slipped to a 1-0 home defeat against Real Betis at the Wanda Metropolitano on Sunday.

The Nigerian forward, handed his first league start following a January move from Atalanta, saw an early goal ruled out for offside as Atletico failed to capitalise on their chances in a match settled by a moment of quality from Betis winger Antony.

Antony’s decisive strike arrived in the 28th minute, when the Brazilian cut inside and fired a low shot beyond Jan Oblak to give the visitors a lead they would protect for the remainder of the contest.

Disallowed goal mars Lookman’s first start

Lookman was central to Atletico’s attacking play in the opening exchanges and appeared to have marked his full league debut with a goal midway through the first half.

The Super Eagles forward finished clinically inside the area, only for VAR to rule the effort out for offside, cutting short celebrations inside the stadium.

Despite the setback, Lookman continued to offer pace, movement and direct running, frequently occupying Betis centre-backs Natan and Diego Llorente.

His positioning created space for Antoine Griezmann and Julián Álvarez, though Atletico struggled to convert territorial dominance into clear-cut chances.

Betis discipline blunts Atletico pressure

As the game progressed, Betis grew increasingly compact, limiting Lookman’s influence in advanced areas. The visitors defended in numbers and forced Atletico into wide areas, reducing the effectiveness of crosses into the box.

Goalkeeper Álvaro Vallés played a key role in preserving Betis’ lead, producing several saves in the second half as Atletico pushed for an equaliser.

Lookman, who was later substituted, was one of Simeone’s main attacking threats in the game.

The final whistle confirmed Lookman’s first league defeat in Spanish football, a sharp contrast to his positive cup showing earlier in the week.

EPL: Haaland late penalty lifts Man City past Liverpool in chaotic finish

Erling Haaland struck a stoppage-time penalty as Manchester City came from behind to beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield, breathing new life into the Premier League title race.

The dramatic win cut Arsenal’s lead at the top of the table to six points with 13 matches remaining, while City moved to second place after a rare victory on Merseyside.

Liverpool had taken the lead in the 74th minute through Dominik Szoboszlai, who curled a superb free-kick beyond Gianluigi Donnarumma after a tight and largely cagey contest.

Late goals turn the game

City responded strongly and were level six minutes from time when Bernardo Silva finished from close range after sustained pressure in the Liverpool penalty area.

The decisive moment arrived deep into stoppage time. Matheus Nunes went down under a challenge from goalkeeper Alisson inside the box, and referee Craig Pawson pointed straight to the spot.

Haaland stepped up and calmly converted in the 93rd minute, registering his 21st Premier League goal of the season.

Chaotic finale at Anfield

Liverpool almost snatched an equaliser moments later, but Donnarumma produced a fine save to deny Alexis Mac Allister.

City then thought they had scored a third when Rayan Cherki found the net from inside his own half with Alisson out of position.

However, VAR intervened and ruled the goal out after Szoboszlai was penalised and sent off for a foul on Haaland earlier in the move, with City instead awarded a free-kick.

Historic away win for City

Despite the late controversy, City held on to claim a landmark victory, their first league win at Anfield since 2021, and their first there in front of supporters since 2003.

The result keeps Guardiola’s side firmly in the title hunt, while Liverpool were left to rue a dramatic late collapse after appearing on course for a crucial home win.

The Nigeria international sealed the victory in the second half to register his 15th goal of the season in all competitions, as the defending champions strengthened their grip on top spot in the league.

Fast start sets the tone

Galatasaray made a bright start and were rewarded in the 19th minute when Barış Alper Yılmaz opened the scoring.

The winger rose above his marker to head home a well-weighted cross from Noa Lang, giving the visitors early control of the contest.

Rizespor struggled to cope with Galatasaray’s pressure, and the pressure eventually told again after the break.

Yılmaz turns provider, Osimhen finishes the job

Yılmaz turned provider in the 62nd minute, sending in a precise delivery that Yunus Akgün converted from close range to double the lead.

Osimhen put the result beyond doubt 11 minutes later. The striker collected the ball just outside the area, skipped past the goalkeeper with composure and finished into an empty net from a narrow angle to cap a dominant performance from Okan Buruk’s side.

Title push gathers momentum

The win keeps Galatasaray top of the Super Lig standings with 52 points from 21 matches. They sit six points clear of second-placed Fenerbahçe, who have a game in hand, and seven ahead of Trabzonspor in third.

Osimhen’s goal tally now stands at nine in the league this season, underlining his importance in Galatasaray’s push for a fourth consecutive Super Lig title.

The Super Eagles forward will look to add to that total when Galatasaray host Eyüpspor in their next league fixture on Friday.

Fathia Balogun, the Nollywood actress, has denied rumors of a feud with fellow actress Funke Akindele.

The filmmaker called out bloggers for spreading false stories online.

The rumours began after Fathia celebrated her birthday on February 5, when Funke sent her a congratulatory message.

Fathia replied politely with “Ose Iya Ibeji” in Yoruba.

A blogger later suggested the exchange looked uncomfortable, leading to speculation that the actresses were at odds.

Why Every Famous Person Or Entertainer Needs Guidance – Nigerian Singer, Iyanya

Nigerian musician Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, popularly known as Iyanya, has shared how he has successfully navigated fame in the entertainment industry for 17 years, crediting his longevity to guidance and mentorship.

The singer made the disclosure in a recent episode of the Afropolitan Podcast, where he spoke about the pressures of fame and the importance of staying grounded.

Iyanya said submitting himself to the guidance of trusted individuals had helped him maintain balance and perspective despite the realities of celebrity life.

“I have been able to maintain fame positively for 17 years because of guidance. I advised my younger self not to take things personal because every famous person or entertainer needs guidance,” he said.

According to him, fame can be overwhelming and deceptive, making it necessary for entertainers to have people who can keep them in check.

“You need one, two or three people in your life to help keep you grounded because everything is going to happen so fast and none of it is real. You’re going to walk into a President’s office, he’s going to know your name, he’s going to sing your song, but it’s not real,” he added.

The singer noted that the attention and recognition that come with fame can disappear just as quickly, stressing that entertainers must not rely on public validation.

“The same guy if you’re not popping two or three years later is not going to remember you. They will have to remind him about your meeting with him,” he expressed.

Iyanya urged celebrities and entertainers to seek counsel and submit themselves to guidance from trusted people in their lives.

He emphasised that such individuals provide moral support and direction, helping public figures navigate the different phases of fame and personal growth while avoiding the pitfalls that often accompany celebrity status.

They Said I Was Beating My Wife Bambam – BBNaija Star, Teddy A Tells His Side Of The Story

Tope Adenibuyan, the reality TV star, who is popularly known as Teddy A, has revealed how false rumors about his private life have deeply affected him.

He mentioned a report that accused him of abusing his wife, actress Bamike “Bambam” Olawunmi.

The singer spoke on the issue during an interview on the WithChude Podcast, which aired on Saturday, February 7, 2026.

The actor explained that the abuse claim stood out as the most painful story he had ever read about himself. He recalled that the day he came across the report, his wife was at home, pregnant, relaxed and watching a movie.

Everything seemed normal until he began receiving unusual notifications on his phone. According to him, the alerts confused him because he had not shared any new content online.

Curious, he checked social media and began reading comments, only to discover that people were discussing a story that accused him of beating his wife, including during her pregnancy.

He said the allegation shocked both him and his wife.Bambam, he explained, became emotional and kept asking where such a story came from.

Teddy A added that he had no idea who started it and could not trace its source. Following the discovery, he contacted his manager to ask how to respond.

He was advised not to react publicly and to allow the story die down on its own. At the time, he agreed with the advice and chose to remain silent. However, Teddy A said he later realized that staying quiet had lasting effects on his image.

He explained that the accusation continued to resurface in comment sections long after the initial report, even under posts that had nothing to do with the issue.

He said that people kept bringing it up under his personal posts with his wife, questioning their relationship and repeating the same claim.

This, he said, happened despite efforts by his wife to clear the air and show that the story was not true. Teddy A admitted that the situation affected how people viewed him and created a wrong picture of his marriage.

He said the false narrative lingered online and continued to shape opinions about him in ways he never expected.

He said: “When they said I was beating my wife, that was a lot. I woke up, went downstairs, my wife was there, she was watching a movie, she was pregnant and laughing.

“Then I checked my phone and saw my notifications going off. I was like, I didn’t drop any content that’s trending, what’s going on, what did I do, or what are they saying now? As I went through the comments, my wife became very emotional and kept asking who did this. I honestly didn’t know, maybe it was one ex somewhere or village people trying to come after me.

“I called my manager to ask what we should do and he told me not to fuel the fire and just let it go. At the time, I didn’t really see the damage staying silent would do to my reputation. Even when my wife and I post ourselves, people still comment and ask if I’m sure I don’t beat my wife. Why would they say that? Why on earth would they do that? It affected me because it made people see me in a way that wasn’t true.”
