Reasons Mercy Eke Fell Short of Winning Big Brother Naija Again

Mercy Eke, a Big Brother Naija reality star, has shared the reason behind her lack of success in the all-star competition.

Mercy ended as the runner-up in the 2023 all-star edition, losing to 22-year-old Ilebaye, who had won the “Pepper Dem” season in 2019.

But in a recent Celebrity Quickies video that was uploaded to comedian AY’s YouTube channel, Eke said that the reason she didn’t advance to the next stage of the competition was because people “were allergic to winners.”

“The first time I went into the Big Brother House, it was full of adorable, kind people,” the woman remarked. I won the show because I played the game. I found it adorable at first, but after returning a second time, I discovered that some individuals were allergic to it.

“They said something like, ‘She had that, she can’t get it back.'” This is hers, and she won’t get it back. They are averse to winners, which is why I was unable to win a second time. “She’s already wealthy, give others a chance,” they said.

“I really enjoyed this second experience. I won’t even try to draw conclusions from it because it opened my eyes to people’s true selves. I wouldn’t know a lot of things if it weren’t for this second experience, thus it can only be God’s doing. I had no idea that wanting to win again would be illegal. However, I am still the winner.

I Don’t Share My Relationship Because of a Past Error – Mercy Eke

Mercy Eke, a Big Brother Naija reality star, has disclosed her reason for not disclosing her relationship.

She claims that she has learned a lesson from her prior experiences.

In a recent Celebrity Quickies video that was uploaded on comedian AY’s YouTube channel, Eke revealed that she had fallen in love again but had chosen to keep her new partner’s identity a secret.

“I consider my dating life private,” the woman remarked. I believe I have made a few dating-related blunders by sharing everything on social media. However, as of late, I can state that this aspect of my life is still very personal.

Eke revealed that she can’t avoid talking to her secret admirer for more than a day.

She emphasized that the majority of the pressure placed on Nigerian celebrities comes from those in their immediate vicinity.

Despite this, according to the reality star, Nigerian celebs are setting new records.

Remember that a few months ago, Mercy Eke and her coworker Pere Egbi stated that they were not dating in response to rumors that they were after their on-screen chemistry at the end of the Big Brother Naija All Stars reality show.

Mercy has dated Ike, her BBNaija coworker, in the past. Their romance, which started during the 2019 “Pepper Dem” edition, came to an abrupt stop following the program.

In a recent interview with Punch, he made this claim.

He claims that this is the reason he is now working in the film business.

“I want to be known as Africa’s number-one lover boy,” he declared.

When asked about his favorite Nollywood experience to date, Saga replied, “Being in a movie for the first time, I enjoyed acting in Life in Two Pictures, directed by Uche Mbunabo. People frequently believe that former Big Brother housemates are not deserved of their success because they believe they did not put in enough effort to become well-known.

I spend a lot of effort learning and delivering my lines because of this. All in all, I received positive feedback, and everyone was pleased. I was thrilled that my first encounter had gone so well.

Saga stated that he is great friends with Liquorose, his former housemate from BBN.

“Liquorose and I are like best friends,” he continued. You can’t let a gifted friend go to waste. We decided to make our debut skit a Sunday series after receiving a lot of favorable reaction from viewers.

Online bullying is happening to me, laments Lizzy Anjorin

Lizzy Anjorin, a well-known actress and businesswoman from Nigeria, has expressed her regret at being harassed online by several blogs that spread untrue information about her.

According to certain allegations from earlier in February, Anjorin stole gold from a Lagos Island market.

The movie star refuted the accusations and stated that she was the victim of a “setup” in the incident.

A few days later, the actress’s husband, Lateef Lawal, was involved in a land-grabbing case that made headlines.

Journalists were able to get a court document from which another actress, Faith Ojo, named Anjorin’s husband, Lateef Lawal, as one of the defendants for tearing down buildings on her land.

Ojo wants payment of N30 million and that the defendants bear the expense of the legal action.

In addition, she asks for a permanent injunction to prevent them from using or developing the land.

On Monday, Ojo used her Instagram profile to affirm that the accusations were accurate.

In an Instagram post on Saturday, the actress expressed her frustration with the accusations and targeted several blogs that she claimed were using false stories to intimidate her.

Part of the message says, “I can’t be working in this toxic environment and you all in return subject me to bullies through your promotions of fake stories.”

Six traders were charged by the police on February 9 in front of a court for allegedly beating and blackmailing Anjorin.

The sitting magistrate, A.A. Paul, gave each defendant N200,000 bail with one surety apiece, who had to be a resident of Lagos and provide proof of having paid taxes.

He ruled that the defendants would be held in detention at the Nigerian Correctional Services until their bail conditions were fulfilled.

The matter was postponed until March 11 for mention.

“Commas,” Ayra Starr’s latest song, debuts at number one on Apple Music’s Nigerian Top 100 Songs.

Ayra Star, the renowned Nigerian singer and Marvin’s signee, has once again exceeded expectations by landing at the top of Apple Music’s Nigerian Top 100 tracks.

Given that the singer has accomplished this several times, it further confirms her other monikers, “Celestial Being” and “Sabi Girl” of her era. The song “Twe Twe” remix by Kizz Daniel and Davido, which had been ranked #1 on Apple Music’s Nigerian Top 100 tracks for nearly a month, was overthrown in this occasion.

Without a doubt, Ayra Star has been contributing to the industry and establishing herself as one of Nigeria’s most fascinating talents over the years since she first came to attention. She is also performing quite well.

Ayra Star’s debut song, which also served as the lead track for her EP “19 and Dangerous,” was released in July 2021. The lead song, “Bloody Samaritan,” seemed to go viral and ended up becoming an anthem for music fans all throughout the African continent and beyond.

With her then-new single “Rush,” the singer dethroned YBNL’s wildly popular artist Asake, whose most recent release at the time was among the hottest hits in the Nigerian music scene, and reached the top of Apple Music’s list in that country in September 2022. It is important to highlight that Asake has established himself as a major force in the Nigerian music scene with a number of solo singles, including “Joha” and Terminator.

However, a number of Ayra’s solo releases—including Bloody Samaritan—her first Extended Play EP, “19 and Dangerous,” and her collaborative efforts with other artists—including Wizkid, Omah Lay, Crayon, and C-kay—among others—have also fared well on a number of charts and online music streaming services both domestically and internationally. These have considerably improved her seamless performance and professional advancement as a musician, shortly after she “derailed” from her original focus of fashion and modeling.

Remarkably, Ayra Star’s most recent achievement on Apple Music’s Nigerian Top 100 songs occurs just a week after she and other Nigerian musicians, such as Davido, Burna Boy, Olamide, and Asake, were not selected for the most recent Grammy Awards Nominees for the 66th Grammy Awards, which took place on February 4, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. Securing the top rank on Apple Music could, nevertheless, provide some solace for the defeat, which many saw as a severe blow to the Afrobeats sector because no Nigerian musician made the winners list.

Remember when Ayra’s solo breakthrough single “Rush” earned her a nomination for the first-ever Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammy Awards? The 21-year-old Marvins Princess was one of the first nominees, along with Burna Boy, Davido, Asake, Olamide, Tyla, and Musa Keys from South Africa. Even though Tyla stole the show, the angel has once again demonstrated that accolades do not only
