You Have No Power to Query Me, Chief Imam Not Traditional Title Holder – Ayilara Slams Soun of Ogbomoso

The Chief Imam of Ogbomoso, Sheik Teliat Yinus Avilara has replied the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye.
According to the Imam, the office of the Chief Imam is not a traditional title.
Ayilara noted that the Chief Imam is not under the control of the Soun of Ogbomoso, hence, Soun has no power to query him.
Ayilara made these declarations in a letter addressed to the Soun as a response to a query issued to the Chief Imam by the traditional ruler.

 

 

Recall that the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye, had earlier issued a query to the Chief Imam for going to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj exercise without informing him. https://dailypost.ng/2024/06/27/hajj-soun-of-ogbomoso-issues-query-to-chief-imam/
But, the Chief Imam, in his reaction, noted that he responded to the letters issued by the traditional ruler out of deep respect he have for Yoruba culture and tradition.
Ayilara, in the letter signed by his secretary, Ogunleye Sulaimon Ajasa, insisted that as a Muslim and spiritual head of the Muslim community in Ogbomoso, he is not subjugating the rules regulating the practice of Islam to Yoruba tradition and culture.
In the letter made available to DAILY POST on Thursday, Ayilara said, “My case is that the office of Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland is not a traditional title, and as such, it is not under the control of Soun of Ogbomosoland.
 
“My case against your majesty is still in court. And I strongly believe that when a matter is in court, the parties in the case must respect the authority of the court by abstaining from anything that may affect the case in court.
 
“Your majesty calling on me to revert the appointment of those Muslim brethren I installed as Grand Mufti of Ogbomosoland, Amirul Wa’izin of Ogbomosoland, Khadimul-Islam of Ogbomosoland and Kanzul ‘Ulama’ of Ogbomosoland, to immediately return to Nigeria and rectify the appointment of acting Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland I made is directly related to the case in court and I think the court must be respected.
 
“I also need to state that I am responding to your Majesty’s letters out of deep respect I have for Yoruba culture and tradition.
“However, as a Muslim and spiritual head of the Muslim community in Ogbomosoland, I am not subjugating the rules regulating the practice of Islam to Yoruba tradition and culture. It is a collective right of all Muslims. Kabiesi, I have forwarded the letters to my lawyers for onward transmission to the court. God bless Ogbomosoland, God bless Oyo State and God bless Nigeria at large.”

Soun of Ogbomoso Queries Chief Imam for Going for Hajj Without Approval

The Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye, has issued a query to the Chief Imam of Ogbomoso, Shiek Taliat Yunus Olusina Ayilara.
The monarch said the Imam failed to seek the traditional ruler’s permission before embarking on Hajj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.

Recall that the traditional ruler has been at loggerheads with the chief Iman for the past few months.

The Chief Imam was among the pilgrims from Nigeria who performed the 1445 Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia.
Soun, in the query, claimed that the Chief Imam did not inform him before he embarked on the journey.
The traditional ruler in the letter dated 10th June 2024, said that what the Chief Imam did was in contrast with the undertaking he signed before he became the Chief Imam.
In the query, made available to newsmen yesterday, was signed by the palace Secretary, Toyin Ajamu, on behalf of the traditional ruler.
The letter reads: “I refer to the earlier query issued to you with regards to your unbecoming and reprehensible conducts as Chief Imam Agba of Ogbomosoland and the need to desist from such conducts.”
 
“You will recall that on your appointment as Chief Imam Agba of Ogbomosoland you signed an undertaking and agreement which you agreed will be binding on you.”
 
“In the said undertaking, you unequivocally undertook to inform the Soun of Ogbomoso before traveling outside Ogbomoso.”
 
“However, we have been informed that you are currently in Mecca on a Holy pilgrimage without notifying the Soun. This is a clear violation of your undertaking.”
 
“Secondly, you agreed not to appoint any surrogate during your tenure without the approval of His Royal Majesty, Soun of Ogbomoso.”
 
“Nevertheless, we have received information that you have appointed a surrogate namely Sheik Abdulrahman Alim Areo as the acting Chief Imam Agba of Ogbomosoland, who led the Jumat Prayer of Friday, 7th June, 2024 of the Central Mosques.”
 
“This action is a direct breach of your undertakings. As the Soun of Ogbomosoland, I hereby demand that you immediately return to Ogbomoso and rectify these violations and desist from any further actions that violate the the undertakings you signed on the approval of your appointment as Chief Imam Agba of Ogbomosoland.”

When contacted for his reaction through a telephone call, the Chief Imam confirmed the development to newsmen.
He noted that this was not the first time that the monarch will issue him a query.
He said: “Yes. That is what I am confirming for you. He has issued some queries to me in the past. I will send you the documents.”
 
“This time, he issued the query to me that I didn’t inform him before going to Saudi Arabia.”

Media personality Do2dtun has slammed social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM).

This comes after the controversial critic slammed talent manager Paulo Okoye aka Paul O.

Recall that the content creator, who attended Davido’s wedding, claimed that many celebrities including Iyabo Ojo, sneaked into the party without invitations.

He alleged the actress was only invited to the after-party and not the main wedding. The influencer also claimed that Nkechi Blessing almost got bounced at the venue.
Paulo Okoye defended his partner, Iyabo Ojo, and expressed pity over VDM’s condition, believing someone had sworn for him.
VDM responded, advising Paulo to stay off his issue with Iyabo, and Paulo replied, telling Davido and others to choose between them.
Do2dtun has now addressed VeryDarkMan ‘sstatements, highlighting the issue of classism in Nigeria.
In his post, the media personality noted that Nigerians often prioritize irrelevant matters and use them to stratify themselves.
He emphasized that having access to certain events or privileges does not make someone better than others.
He wrote, “Nigerians often prioritize unimportant things and use them to stratify themselves. We elevate minor issues to important status. Having access to certain events or privileges does not make someone better than others. It’s important to build meaningful relationships and memories, rather than prioritizing superficial things.”

According to him, his relationship with singer Davido is beyond money and gossip.

The socialite recently appreciated Davido for not “discarding” Chioma.
He stated that the DMW boss has made Imo State proud by choosing to marry from the state.

Don Jazzy acknowledged this, and admitted that he loves women, and that explains why he is yet to be married again.

Foden Temporarily Leaves England Euros Camp

Phil Foden has left  England’s Euro 2024 base in Germany.
He left temporarily to return home due to a “pressing family matter,” the English Football Association said on Thursday.

Foden, who won Premier League player of the year accolades for his starring role in Manchester City’s title triumph this season, has started all three of England’s games at the tournament so far.
It remains to be seen whether the 24-year-old will be available for the Three Lions’ last 16 match on Sunday.
Foden is just one of a number of England stars that have failed to replicate their club form at international level at the Euros.
Gareth Southgate’s men have progressed to the knockout stages at Group C winners but failed to live up to their hype as pre-tournament favourites in draws against Denmark and Slovenia after opening their campaign with a 1-0 win over Serbia.
However, England have found themselves on the kinder side of the draw as they will avoid Germany, France, Spain and Portugal until the final if they progress that far.
Meanwhile, Daily Mail reports that Foden left camp to return home for birth of his third child with childhood sweetheart, Rebecca.
He is expected to be back with the group by Sunday when the team play next in the last 16.

Nigerian Singer, Simi Joins Kenya Anti-tax Protests

Nigerian singer/songwriter, Simi has extended her support for the ongoing anti-tax hike protests in Kenya.

Kenyan youths are marching against tax hike in widespread demonstrations tagged ‘RejectFinanceBill2024.’

Five people were shot dead and dozens wounded after police clashed with protesters who stormed the parliament building in Nairobi on Tuesday, according to Amnesty Kenya.

Reacting via her X handle on Tuesday night, Simi declared her support for the demonstrators.

She stated that it is both powerful and heartbreaking for people to have to fight and die for freedom and rights.

The singer wrote, “I stand with the people of Kenya. It is both powerful and heartbreaking for a people to have to fight and die for freedoms and rights. Godspeed and Strength. [Hash tag] RejectFinanceBill2024.”

In a series of other posts, she wrote: “Wow. When you’ve had enough, the fight is almost inevitable.

“African leaders – haven’t you done enough?

“I can’t wait for the day Africa is not a weapon fashioned against Africans. All of this amazing Black power and human resource, but the majority are not likely to thrive unless they run.”
