Qing Madi Is My Alter Ego, Not My Real Self – Singer, Qing Madi Says

Qing Madi, the popular Nigerian singer, whose real name is Chimamanda Chukwuma, has shared a candid insight into her contrasting public and private personas.

On the ‘Is This Seat Taken’ podcast, Qing Madi revealed that her confident on-stage persona is a far cry from her introverted and quieter self.

The 18-year-old singer confessed that performing makes her nervous, as it requires her to adopt a more confident alter ego.

She emphasised that this persona is different from her true self, who is more reserved and book-loving.

Chinasa asked, “Would you say that there are any differences between Amanda and Qing Madi?”

“I think so in terms of performance and confidence,” she began, “because the people that know me from my home know that I don’t like to talk at all. I have a mini library in my room right now so I’m just like, ‘books, books, books’ and I just bury myself and chill.

“Everything that has to do with coming out makes me nervous. But then, when it’s like, ‘You have to be Qing Madi now’ and I have to come on stage, my mum is like, ‘Who is that?’ I come on stage and I’m jumping, talking to the crowd and they’re responding, and I’m like, ‘Okay, this is a whole alter ego’. I think Qing Madi is a very confident person but that’s not who I am,” she stated.

Qing Madi also spoke about passion for classical ballet, which she sometimes incorporates into her music.

She shared fond memories of her ballet days, crediting the discipline with helping her build confidence and flexibility.

“I enjoyed it even more than music at some point. It’s one thing to suffer and it’s another thing for your friend to suffer with you. I loved it. I loved how I and my friends would cry from backaches; those memories of dancing in the church were beautiful. I loved ballet and I feel like it was a huge part of who I was. I love that it takes a lot of discipline. It’s not something just anybody can do, so it’s like a bragging right.

“Ballet helped with my confidence when performing on stage; it helped with my flexibility, obviously and it was my safe place. It still is,” she said.

Mr Marcaroni Slams FG Over Response To Hunger Protests

Nigerian skitmaker, Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni has taken a swipe at the Federal government over how they have been handling the ongoing nationwide protest.

He accused authorities of disrupting peaceful demonstrations and teargassing the protesters.

On August 1, 2024, he took to the X platform to respond to a post by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who claimed that protesters in Lagos were peaceful.

Mr Macaroni wrote, “This is proof that the protests are always peaceful and with good intentions until state-sponsored thugs are sent to disrupt the protests. The police, in their complicity, will ignore the infiltrators and start to attack peaceful protesters. This is how it happens not only in Lagos but in other states in the country.”

He drew parallels to the 2020 ENDSARS protests, criticizing the government for trying to rewrite the history of these events. “At the end of the day, the government will then attempt to rewrite history as if it didn’t happen before our very eyes. This is exactly how it happened with EndSars and the records will forever be there to point at the real enemies of Nigeria who unleashed terror and mayhem in our society,” he added.

Mr Macaroni also criticized the presence of anti-protesters who confronted peaceful demonstrators. He questioned, “Isn’t it crazy that the same people who protested peacefully are now trying to stop others from doing the same thing?”

He stressed, “If people want to protest and cry out to the government, let them. How can the government keep punishing people and then tell them they can’t complain? The government should protect peaceful protesters, but instead, it’s the same government that’s causing the problems.”

I Became An Actor After Dropping Out of School – Ibrahim Chatta

Nigerian actor Ibrahim Chatta has opened up on his journey as an actor.
He revealed that he had to drop out of school in order to pursue his passion for acting.
He spoke during a recent interview with BBC Yoruba.
Chatta revealed that he dropped out of secondary school to focus on his acting career, which began in 1985.
He said his love for acting led him to skip classes and join his colleagues in travel theater performances but eventually, he abandoned his secondary school education to pursue his dream.

Despite this, Chatta confessed to have continued to self-educate himself through online courses and programs, demonstrating his commitment to personal growth.

He said: “I started acting very early in my life. I knew I was going to go into acting as a kid. Acting took a lot from me. It did not allow me to go to school.

”My parents would think I was in school those days but I would have followed my colleagues for what we call travel theatre. It has now transitioned into filmmaking. That was how some of our bosses started their acting career from the stage into cinema movies.

“Although, I am doing some courses in adult education that are related to acting, I did not finish my secondary school education. The English language is like every other language. It can be taught and can be heard. The English language I speak is self-taught and I love reading so much. When I was little and I bought puff-puff, I used to read the paper wrap. I read about the English Language from the books.”
The actor, who rose to fame with his role in “Aiyekooto” (2012), has appeared in numerous notable films, including “Atini O’go” (2006), “October 1” (2014), and “Omoyagba” (2020).

How Two Fraudsters Hacked Into MTN Nigeria Network And Stole N1.9bn

Two fraudsters have been arraigned in court for allegedly hacking into MTN Nigeria Communication Plc system and stealing airtime and data valued at N1.9 billion.
The police in Lagos arraigned the hackers identified as Timothy Oluwabukola and Anthony Odemerho, before a Federal High Court in Lagos.
The Special Fraud Unit of the Nigeria Police docked the two men before Justice Akintayo Aluko on a four-count conspiracy charge, unauthorised access into the company’s web-based Application Programming Interface (API) and unlawful conversion.
Oluwabukola, a student of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) Abeokuta, Ogun State, and Odemerho, the proprietor of Resign Regal Academy in Benin City, Edo State, allegedly committed the offences between January and April this year in Lagos and Edo States.
The prosecutor, Justine Enang, told the court that the defendants and others at large conspired among themselves and accessed the telecom’s Application Programming Interface (API) of MTN and obtained data from the said application, which they used to defraud the company to the tune of N1.9 billion.
Enang also claimed that the offences contravened sections 27(1)(b), 6(2), and 28(1)(b) of the Cybercrime (prohibition, prevention, etc) Act, 2015, as amended in 2024, but were punishable under Section 8(2) of the same Act.
He also informed the court that the offences violated section 18(2)(b) of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, but punishable under Section 18(3) of the same Act.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Based on their plea, the prosecutor urged the court to fix a trial date and remand the defendants in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCoS) until the charge was determined.
But, the defence lawyer informed the court that he had filed bail applications for his clients, and that same had been served on the prosecutor.
In response, the prosecutor confirmed being served with the applications but told the court that he was served while the proceedings were on.
Enang then asked the court for a short date to enable him to study the applications and respond accordingly.
After listening to the lawyers, Justice Aluko adjourned the matter to August 5 for a hearing of the defendants’ bail applications.

Rapper Cardi B Files For Divorce From Offset Again

Popular American rapper, Cardi B has filed for divorce from her husband, Offset, for the second time.

TMZ confirms the news, revealing that the separation has been a long time coming.

Sources close to the situation told TMZ that the breakup is not related to cheating. Instead, the couple has been drifting apart for an extended period. “They’re just disconnected from each other,” one insider explained.

Hints of the impending split were apparent in Cardi B’s social media posts from December, where she expressed frustration with the relationship. “You know when you just outgrow relationships … I’m tired of protecting people’s feelings … I GOTTA PUT MYSELF FIRST!” she wrote.

Despite efforts to reconcile earlier this year, the distance between the two only widened. The decision to part ways is reportedly amicable, and Cardi B has already enlisted a divorce lawyer to handle the case, seeking primary custody of their two children.

The couple, who married in 2017, share two kids: 6-year-old Kulture and 2-year-old Wave. This is not the first time Cardi B has filed for divorce; she previously initiated proceedings in 2020 but later withdrew the documents. Sources indicate that this time, she is determined to follow through with the decision.
