Chelsea has confirmed that Thiago Silva’s contract has been extended until 2024.

Speaking to Chelsea’s website after signing the new contract, Silva said:

“I am honestly so happy to continue my career with the Blues. 

“When I signed my first contract here, it was to just do one year. Now it is already the fourth! I could not have imagined that, but really it is a very special moment for me to sign and stay at Chelsea.”

Graham Potter has stated that he expects to be fired by Chelsea if results do not improve.

Graham Potter, who was handed a war chest worth over £300 million ($362 million) in his first full transfer window as Chelsea manager, has stated that he expects to be fired by the club’s owners if results do not improve soon.

Speaking ahead of a match with West Ham this afternoon, Potter said;

“My relationship has been consistent with [the owners]. We understand where we both are, where we see the team. We are working really well to keep improving. 

“The expectations have always remained the same, a team that ultimately wins. We know there is opportunities to make changes to the team when the window is open. I’m not stupid. If the results aren’t what this club should get, then I understand, if I’m the reason for it then that’s the job.”

South African rapper, AKA, has been shot and killed in Durban.

AKA was expected to perform at his birthday party on Friday.

However, he was accosted by unknown gunmen who fatally him several times, in what appears to be a hit, outside a restaurant on Florida Road. The event has since been cancelled

Another person believed to be AKA’s bodyguard, was also wounded, while another unidentified person, who is understood to be a close friend of AKA,has been shot dead.

It is understood that AKA was standing outside the Wish Restaurant when he was gunned down in a drive-by shooting.

Two unknown cars are believed to have opened fire on the rapper.

Several police sources confirmed the rapper’s death. 

The shooting happened just before 10pm.

Police had cordoned off the area when an IOL team arrived at the scene on Friday night.

Speaking to IOL, stunned patrons at a nearby restaurant confirmed AKA had been standing outside Wish when he was gunned down.

Garrith Jamieson, a spokesperson for ALS Paramedics said Florida Road has been closed off after the shooting incident Florida Road where two people have been confirmed deceased.

NAFDAC declares a skin bleaching emergency.

The widespread use of skin-bleaching creams in Nigeria has been declared a national health emergency by NAFDAC.

The declaration was made by Mojisola Adeyeye, the director-general of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, at the Kano Media Sensitization Workshop on the Dangers of Bleaching Creams and Regulatory Controls.

According to her,

“The World Health Organization study in 2018 revealed that the use of skin bleaching cream is prevalent amongst 77 percent of Nigerian women, which is the highest in Africa compared to 59 percent in Togo, 35 percent in South Africa and 27 percent in Senegal.

These scary statistics have shown that the menace of bleaching creams in Nigeria has become a national health emergency that requires a multi-faceted regulatory approach.
Part of the approach is consultative and not sensitization meetings like this. Another is a heightened raid on the cream outlets.”

The Manchester United women’s team does not want Greenwood to return to the men’s team.

This is coming after all charges relating to allegations of attempted rape, assault, and coercive and controlling behaviour, which were filed against Mason Greenwood were dropped.

The Manchester United forward who was suspended indefinitely by the Premier League club after the accusations came to light, was initially arrested in January 2022 before being released on bail.

He was subsequently arrested again for breaching his bail conditions and charged by prosecutors. It has now been confirmed all charges filed against him have been dropped.

The Athletic reported that Manchester United Women’s team is “deeply uncomfortable” about the prospect of Mason Greenwood returning to first-team action at Old Trafford, and the men’s team is also reportedly ready to move on from him.

Players in the women’s team who expressed concern about the prospect of Greenwood returning after hearing an audio that was released on social media before his arrest, said it is “not something that can be easily erased from memory”.

Daily Mail had also reported that the men’s team led by Erik ten Hag want to move on from Greenwood and believe his return could disrupt their progress this season.

On the other hand, the staff at Manchester United are said to be split on Greenwood’s future. Some feel the Red Devils own a duty of care to the 21-year-old, while others believe he should not wear the famous red shirt again.

The club’s management has already said it would “conduct its own process” before determining the next step to be taken.

In a video making the rounds online, a woman, presumed to be her mother, was seen asking the kid to complete her statement.

The kid fluently completed the statement, ‘God bless PDAPC’. Her mother also asked her to complete, ‘A townhall different from….’ and she answered correctly.

Her fluency got many talking online as they wondered if Tinubu’s viral statement was added to nursery rhyme.
