A missing 26-year-old woman has been found dead.
Blessing Karami, a student of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), was declared missing after leaving her place of work in Garki, Abuja on September 11, 2023.
The deceased’s elder brother Genesis Moses Karami, who travelled from Kaduna to Abuja to lead the search said her decomposing body was found in the bush in the Karmo district of the Federal Capital Territory.
It was gathered that the police had arrested one Aminu, the boyfriend of the deceased who was questioned regarding her disappearance.
According to Genesis Karami, he received a strange call giving details about his sister’s body but it turned out to be false.
“The caller said he saw a female body in Idu, so we asked him to describe what she was wearing, and he told us exactly what we were told my sister wore to the office the day she went missing,” the brother told the police.
According to Karami, after he kept trying to contact the DPO and it was not going through, he had to go to the police station at Karmo, but upon reaching there with a group of policemen, the caller kept toying with them as he kept changing locations until they got tired and left.
On Wednesday, September 20, Karami confirmed to newsmen that his sister had indeed died.
“We saw her decomposed body in the bush here at Karmo, it’s not something we can move, we have to arrange with the environmental people to come and help us pack,” Karami said.
“We cannot travel with it. We just have to bury it here. It seems she died for days due to the nature of the decomposition,”
Meanwhile, friends, family members, and acquaintances have taken to social media to mourn the deceased.

Why I Ordered Chicago University To Release Tinubu’s Academic Records – US Judge

Judge Jeffrey Gilbert has revealed why he ordered Chicago University to release President Bola Tinubu academic certificates to Nigerian opposition leader, Atiku Abubakar.
Gilbert is the judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District, Jeffrey Gilbert. He gave the order on Tuesday.
The judge said the need to confirm the genuineness or otherwise of the certificate Tinubu submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission outweighed Tinubu’s personal concerns over its consequences.
Atiku Abubakar of the People Democratic Party (PDP) had sought a subpoena to obtain Tinubu’s academic records following several inconsistencies that characterised the submissions Tinubu certified under oath to the Nigerian electoral office.
Tinubu had fought to have his records blocked and inaccessible to Atiku, who argued he applied for the subpoena directing discovery of his credentials from Chicago State University (CSU) in order to seek Tinubu’s nullification at Nigeria’s Supreme Court.

Two Arraigned For Disturbing Public Peace In Abuja

court
Two men, Orumah Abubakar and Prosper Chukwu, have been arraigned before a Kado Grade I Area Court in Abuja, for allegedly disturbing public peace.

The police charged the suspects, both of Kado Abuja with disturbing public peace.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Stanley Nwafoaku, told the court that the complainant Mr Orumah Abubakar reported the matter at the Life Camp police station.

Nwafoaku alleged that on Saturday, police officers were detailed to the complainant’s house to invite Chukwu to the station.

He said on arrival of the police officers at the complainant’s house, Abubakar and Chukwu got into an argument disturbing public peace.

The police said the argument led to a fight over the compound’s maintenance fees and the police immediately summoned them to the police station.

The offence, the police said, contravenes the provisions of Section 113 of the Penal Code Law.

The Defence Counsel, Mrs Charity Nwosu made an oral application citing section 36 of the 1999 Constitution as amended and section 158 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015, assuring that the defendants would not jump bail if granted.

The prosecutor, however, did not object to the bail application made by the defence counsel.

The Area Court Judge Malam Mohammed Wakili, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety each in like sum.

Wakili ordered that the defendants must provide reliable sureties who must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.

He added that the sureties must provide a BVN printout, two recent passport photographs and a valid identification card, which must be verified by the court registrar.

The Judge adjourned the case until Oct.17 for hearing. (NAN)

President Tinubu Giving Juicy Appointments To Only Yorubas – APC Group

An All Progressives Congress (APC) group, under the aegis of Progressive Change Ambassadors of Nigeria (PCAN), has accused President Bola Tinubu of favouritism, stating that there has been a clear imbalance in his appointments since he assumed office.

The group made this known in a statement on Tuesday by its Executive Director, Alhaji Abdulkareem Ubaydah and Secretary, Muhammad Rabiu Awwal.

The APC members claimed that the President has continued to appoint people mainly from the South West region to top positions and neglected other regions for juicy appointments.

According to the members, President Tinubu has also ignored competent and qualified individuals from other ethnic groups and has favoured members from the South West.

The statement reads: “Mr. President, we write to you today as concerned citizens of Nigeria and deeply troubled members of your party – the All Progressives Congress (APC), to express our deep concern about the perceived imbalance in your political appointments so far.

“We have observed that a significant majority of these appointments have been made from your southwest geopolitical zone and especially from your ethnic group – the Yorubas, to the exclusion of other qualified and competent individuals from other parts of the country.

“This has led to widespread feelings of alienation and resentment among Nigerians from other parts of the country. While we understand that you are entitled to appoint people you trust and believe in, we as stakeholders in the political party under which you assumed office as President of Nigeria, reserve the right to urge you to consider the importance of national unity and inclusiveness in your appointments.

“It is important to remember always that you are the President of all Nigerians, not just that of Yorubas of the southwest geopolitical zone.

“Your political appointments should therefore reflect the diversity of our nation and ensure that all Nigerians have a voice in your government.”

The APC group further urged the President to ensure balance in coming appointments, and it should reflect the diversity of the nation.

“Unfortunately, your appointments to date have fallen far short of this standard. For instance, control of Nigeria’s economy has been ceded exclusively to South-west Yorubas as all appointments in that sector have been filled by them.

“Additionally, of 20 presidential aides appointed by you, 15 are from your geopolitical zone and ethnicity. Also, in the recent appointments of presidential Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants, 8 are Yorubas from the South-West! Also worthy of note are the facts that the Inspector-general of Police, Controller-generals of Nigeria Customs and Immigration Services, respectively, as well as the Chief of Army Staff, are all members of your ethnic group.

“This is a clear imbalance which sends a message that you are not committed to building a united and inclusive Nigeria. We need not remind you Mr. President, of the circumstances surrounding your election victory as the South-West, propagandized by divisive, faith-based political rhetoric of the opposition, seemingly abandoned you to your fate, leaving the other geopolitical zones, especially the North-West and North-Central to do the heavy lifting needed, votes-wise, for your victory.

“Shunning them for those who stood by and did pitifully little is not how to reward their tremendous labour of love on behalf of your successful aspiration. We urge you to reconsider your approach to political appointments and to make a concerted effort to include people from all geopolitical zones in your government. This is essential for building trust and ensuring that all Nigerians feel represented in their government.

“This is the only way to ensure that all Nigerians have a fair chance to contribute to the development of our country and to live in a united and prosperous nation. One of the duties of the President is to ensure that the government is representative of the people. By appointing people from all geopolitical zones, you will be fulfilling this duty and living up to the oath you took as President.

“This is the only way to ensure that all Nigerians have a fair chance to contribute to the development of our country and to live in a united and prosperous nation. We hope you will give our concerns raised in this letter serious consideration and take action to address them.”
