Why I Didn’t Address Affairs of Nigeria in My New EP – Falz

Rapper Falz has stated that he intentionally refused to address the affairs of Nigeria in his newly released EP.
According to him, he purposely chose to tone down on sociopolitically conscious lyrics in his recently released Extended Play ‘Before the Feast’.
He stated that he did not speak much about Nigerian matters because he was determined to complain less, as the mood he was attempting to communicate must be free from complaint.
Falz stated in an interview with The Punch that his primary goal was to instill in those who listen to the mindset that Africans should have in 2024.
Falz said;
“On this project, I am not doing much of the social or political commentary that I typically do. There are socially conscious lyrics, but not particularly about the affairs of the country.

“That is intentional as well. I resolved not to complain because the emotion I am trying to convey has to be one that comes without that element of complaining. I want to put the listener in the mindset I feel they should have as African existing in 2024.”

On why he fused different genres of music on the EP Falz said;

“It was very intentional. What I want to do with the EP is to cleanse the palette of the listener. I aimed to make it as diverse as possible with the sounds

“It is interesting that only one producer worked on more than one song on the project. Each song has a new producer, which was not even intentional. That allowed us to achieve a wide range of sounds. So, yes, it was intentional.”

Nigerian Media Gave Burna Boy Credits For Records I Set – Seun Kuti Claims

Seun Kuti, the Grammy-nominated Afrobeat musician, has made a new claim about Burna Boy.

He lamented that Burna Boy is erroneously being credited for records set by him and others in the Nigerian music industry.

He recalled that Burna Boy was widely reported as the first artiste to play in Coachella in 2020 despite his (Kuti’s) performance at the festival in 2012.

He also mentioned that before Burna Boy earned his first Grammy nomination for Best World Music Album with African Giant, his elder brother, Femi Kuti had received multiple nominations in the category.

Speaking in a recent interview with The Public Republic, Kuti lamented that his album ‘Black Times’ was nominated for Best World Music Album years ago but no African award organiser considered it for a nomination.

The controversial singer stated that despite earning another Grammy nomination for his contributions to Janelle Monae’s ‘Age of Pleasure,’ which was nominated in the Album of the Year category at the 2024 Grammys, the media didn’t mention him among the Nigerian artists nominated for the 66th Grammys.

“My brother [Femi Kuti] has been nominated at the Grammys multiple times. They’ve nominated me, I was also nominated in the last edition. It was only my name that they [Nigerian media] didn’t mention among the Nigerian artists who were nominated for the 66th Grammys. That’s what they do every time as if I’m from Togo.

“That’s how they said Burna boy was the first Nigerian artiste to play in Coachella in 2020 where me I’ve played in 2012 as if I’m from Togo,” he lamented.

Nigerians Are Not The Only Ones Facing Poverty – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to tackle banditry and terrorism.
He said that is the easiest way to end poverty and suffering in the country.
This is as the President said that Nigerians are not the only ones facing poverty in the world.
One of the ways of tackling them, he explained, is to eliminate banditry and terrorism so that farmers cab return to the farm.
According to a statement on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Ajuri Ngelale, the President said this in Lagos on Monday when he received a delegation from the National Assembly who came to felicitate with him on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir.
The delegation was led by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, alongside the Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, among others.
According to him, it is imperative for Nigerians to have a change of value system for the nation to make progress.
“Yes, there is poverty; there is suffering in the land. We are not the only people facing such, but we must face our challenges.

“We must find a way to eliminate banditry and terrorism so that farmers can bring out food from the farmland.

“If you do not have good roads to bring the food to the population, even if you grow the food and you are losing 60-70 per cent to damages, you will pay the price,” the President said.
He challenged citizens to have a change of mindset about Nigeria if the nation is to overcome its current challenges.
“The need (for some citizens) to change the rent-seeking mindset and become more productive to the economy is a challenge. The need to stop smuggling and all economic sabotage.

“Why should we have people removing rail tracks and all that, stealing electric cables and sabotaging the economy?

“We must embrace the campaign to change our value system. We must tell our people that the challenge we face is for all of us to change our mindset about our country,” Tinubu stressed.
The President also commended the leadership of the National Assembly for the support extended to his administration, which he said had resulted in some of the important developments recorded by his administration.
“It is great pride for me to have the best of partners in the National Assembly. We have to drill down and be all-inclusive in our bid to satisfy our people.

“It is daunting, but we cannot run away from the fact that this country must survive the hardship,”he stated.
The President acknowledged the challenges and the task ahead, assuring the nation of his unwavering determination to turn things around.”

NFF To Punish Victor Osimhen Over Improper Conduct

Victor Osimhen is likely to be sanctioned by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in the coming days.
The striker will be charged for improper conduct over his verbal attack on the former coach of the senior national team of Nigeria, Finidi George, according to Vanguard.
Finidi who was the coach of the team until Friday when he tendered his resignation letter following the announcement by the NFF that they will be appointing an expatriate coach, was called out by the Napoli forward who was angry over reports that the coach questioned his commitment to the team.
Osimhen went all out on the coach on the reason why he missed the team’s world cup qualifiers games against south Africa and Benin Republic, which they drew 1-1 and lost 1-2 respectively to drop to 5th in their group, four points behind leader Rwanda.
“Already the president of the NFF Ibrahim Muse Guseu has spoken with Osimhon over his outburst and Finidi also reached out to him. The report he reacted to is fake and misleading, sadly he didn’t confirm bofore reacting”, a board member of the NFF told Owngoal Nigeria.com.

“Osim ben is a role model and the only way we can help the incoming coach stamp his authority is by using him to set example. He crossed the line with his outburst even when Finidi called him to explain he still didn’t deem it fit to retract his statements. We won’t condone that and after the Salah break, we will sit on the issue. I can tell you he won’t be in the team until he says sorry for his actions”, he concluded.

Davido Used Me To Trend, Didn’t Give Me Money – Portable Claims

Habeeb Okikiola, the controversial Nigerian singer, who is also known as Portable, has called out his colleague, Davido, again.

Portable accused Davido of chasing clout with their recent dinner in the United States.

He lamented that, instead of making music with him or gifting him money, Davido used him to trend.

Portable insisted that the DMW boss should have given him at least $10,000.

The ‘Zazu’ crooner stated this in a video message shared via his Instagram page recently.

“Davido ripped me, you invited me out for a dinner in America, but you didn’t give me a verse or money, you just used me to trend. You should have given me at least $10,000,” he said.

Recall that Portable and Davido fell out after the former publicly accused the latter of giving him “bad advice” during their dinner in the United States.

Davido reacted by unfollowing Portable on Instagram, and the ‘Zazu’ crooner also unfollowed him.
