EPL: Eze hat-trick secures Arsenal’s dominant derby win over Spurs

Eberechi Eze stole the show as Arsenal demolished Tottenham Hotspur to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League to six points.

The Nigerian winger scored a brilliant hat-trick, guiding the Gunners to a resounding victory at the Emirates Stadium.

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank  opted for a five-man defensive setup to contain Arsenal’s attack, but his plan quickly unravelled under pressure from the league leaders.

Leandro Trossard opened the scoring in the 36th minute, finishing expertly after a precise through ball from Mikel Merino.

Eze takes control

Just before halftime, Eze doubled Arsenal’s advantage with a composed strike, beating two defenders on the edge of the box before drilling the ball past Guglielmo Vicario.

The former Crystal Palace star had been close to joining Spurs over the summer, but instead became the hero for the Gunners.

Frank tried to alter the game at half-time, replacing defensive rigidity with Xavi Simons in an attempt to boost attacking intent.

His plan backfired instantly. Within 23 seconds of the restart, Eze curled a left-footed effort into the bottom corner, making it 3-0 and effectively putting the game beyond Spurs.

Arsenal seal the win

Tottenham briefly responded when Richarlison scored a stunning long-range effort, lifting the ball over the stranded David Raya.

However, Arsenal were unrelenting. Eze completed his hat-trick in the 76th minute with another clinical finish, taking his place as the star of the match.

The victory gives Arsenal their largest points lead at this stage of a Premier League season and strengthens their quest for a first league title since 2004, following three consecutive second-place finishes.

Why Atiku, Obi Were Absent At Secretariat Unveiling – ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has explained why former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi were absent from the official unveiling of its new national secretariat in Abuja on November 17.

This was contained in a statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, dismissing reports suggesting that Obi snubbed the leadership because the secretariat was formerly Atiku’s campaign office.

While the ADC National Chairman, David Mark; the party’s National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola; and former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, attended the unveiling, both Obi and Atiku were absent and did not issue any formal statement.

Inaugurating the new secretariat, Mark described it as a reflection of the coalition’s ambition to reshape Nigeria’s political future.

“It is a physical testament to our collective resolve to build a greater nation. This ADC coalition is a historic child of necessity, inspired by people’s desire for good governance, greater accountability, and a stronger democracy,” he said.

Obi’s absence had been widely interpreted as a rejection of the secretariat because of its previous link to Atiku.

However, Abdullahi, who dismissed the insinuation, insisted Obi remained committed to the coalition, explaining that Obi was out of the country during the event, while Atiku was unavailable due to other engagements.

He said, “The programme was impromptu; most of the party leaders were not in attendance. Obi was out of the country, and Atiku wasn’t available. There’s nothing to suggest that Peter Obi is withdrawing from the coalition. He is still with us.

“Let me state again that Atiku isn’t the owner of the building, and he didn’t donate it to the ADC. He leased the building, and his rent had expired. The ADC rented the building.”

The ADC’s mouthpiece further stated that there was no rift among ADC leaders, insisting that the coalition remained united in its goal to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Christian Genocide: Nigerian Delegation To US Is Intensely Addressing False Narrative – FG Says

Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, has said that the high-level Federal Government delegation to the United States of America, US, led by the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, is intensely addressing misleading narratives suggesting religious persecution in Nigeria.

“We are not leaving any space for misinformation to stand. Our officials are in Washington with facts, data, and a clear message, which is that there is no government-sponsored persecution of any religious group in Nigeria,” said Idris in an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, aired Saturday evening.

The Minister explained that the high-powered Nigerian delegation currently in the US, has met with the Secretary of War, members of the US Congress, officials of the State Department, and other American stakeholders, and has availed evidence-based information about Nigeria’s security challenges, and provided detailed briefings on counter terrorism operations, inter agency security coordination, and efforts to protect all Nigerian citizens, regardless of faith or ethnicity.

These engagements, according to the Minister, are crucial for correcting misconceptions that have been amplified during recent congressional discussions and advocacy campaigns.

“Our mission is simple,” he said. “We are showing our partners the full context of the security situation, the steps the government is taking, and the fact that extremists have killed both Christians and Muslims. These narratives of genocide are not only incorrect, they are dangerous.”

The Minister explained that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu views the situation with utmost seriousness, and has not only strengthened Nigeria’s internal security architecture but also expanded international cooperation to support counter terrorism and intelligence operations.

He said the mission of the delegation underscores the determination of the government of President Tinubu to defend Nigeria’s reputation and ensure that foreign partners anchor their decisions on verified information, not one-sided narratives.

He emphasized that Nigeria’s relationship with the United States remains strong, and that the engagements demonstrate the openness of the Tinubu administration to dialogue, partnership, and transparency. He noted that more follow-up meetings are expected in the coming days as part of a structured government-wide response to the misinformation circulating about Nigeria’s security realities.

The Minister urged Nigerians to remain calm and assured the public that the government will continue to confront insecurity while also engaging the international community to ensure that Nigeria is accurately represented on the global stage.

Bandits Who Abducted 38 Worshipers In Kwara Are Now Demanding For N20m Per Victim – Relative Of Victim Alleges (Video)

Renewed tension has engulfed communities in Kwara State after bandits who kidnapped 38 worshippers from a church in the Eruku area appeared in a disturbing viral video.

According to relatives, the kidnappers are now demanding ₦20 million per victim, a development that has deepened fear and despair among families.

A News Central journalist stationed in the area reported that residents have begun fleeing the community, unable to cope with the trauma of the attack which has attracted national and international outrage.

Many homes have reportedly been left empty overnight as people relocate in fear of further raids.

The pastor of the targeted church also spoke to journalists, revealing that his first son is among those kidnapped. He described the experience as “devastating,” adding that the situation has left the entire congregation in shock.

Another relative of one of the victims said the bandits initially demanded ₦100 million for each abducted person, before later reducing the ransom to ₦20 million per victim. The families say the new demand is still impossible to meet, with many of the victims coming from modest, rural backgrounds.

It was also gathered that each time relatives attempt to contact the kidnappers, a woman consistently answers the phone on behalf of the bandit group, further raising questions about the structure of the criminal gang and how they operate.
