Veteran Nollywood actress, Bimbo Akintola, has candidly shared the personal reasons behind her single status, revealing that it was never a deliberate choice.
Akintola, whose mother hails from Edo State and father from Oyo State, described marriage as a holy covenant meant to be celebrated in God’s house, surrounded by loved ones. She stressed that she could only marry someone she is certain she can be with for life, adding that honesty and truth are non-negotiable in her relationships.
“I haven’t found the person I would spend the rest of my life with. I did once, but he passed away, and since then, I haven’t found another. I can’t live a lie — I have to be true to myself and to God,” she said.
The actress, who has no children, maintained that she remains open to marriage at any age, even in her late seventies, if she meets the right person. While emphasizing that marriage does not define a woman’s worth, Akintola noted that companionship becomes increasingly important in later years when children grow up and move on.
“Marriage is important, especially as you get older. Loneliness is real, and everyone needs a companion for the later years,” she added.
