Tolu Arokodare Nominated Twice For Ajax Goal Of The Month Award

Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare has been nominated twice for Ajax’s Goal of the Month award for October 2026.

The 25-year-old scored four goals in six matches that month.

His first nomination is for his strike against Atalanta in the UEFA Conference League on October 22.

Three minutes from full time, he received a long pass from Youri Baas, beat a defender and calmly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to put Ajax ahead.

Tolu second nomination is for a header in Ajax’s 1-0 Eredivisie win over AZ Alkmaar on Saturday.

In the ninth minute, he jumped above defender Mees de Wit to meet Abdellah Ouazane’s cross and powered it into the net.

He faces tough competition.

Ouazane also has two nominations, while Davy Klaassen, Leo Salazar, Abdoulaye Camara and Naoufal Mouslim complete the shortlist.

The win over AZ was Ajax’s fourth straight under coach Michel Sanchez.

It moved them to within a point of leaders Feyenoord.

After the match, Arokodare told ESPN the team needs to read the game better when they don’t have the ball.

He said players must know when to press and when they are not on top, so they need to stay in position.

Arokodare joined Ajax on a season-long loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers in July, with an option to move permanently.
