Mr. Peter Obi,the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the 2023 general elections, has said the security crisis ravaging the Southeast region can only be tackled if the leaders are united.
The former Anambra governor stated this in a message he delivered during the Southeast Summit on Economy and Security, in Owerri, the Imo state capital.
According to Obi, the people of the Southeast, who are predominantly businessmen, have gradually lost their sources of income due to criminal activities perpetrated by hoodlums in the zone.
The LP presidential candidate, whose message was aired at the summit, urged the leaders of the Southeast to come together and speak up on ways to end the embarrassing insecurity in the region.
He said, “This summit which is focusing merely on security and its economic impact on the Southeast has come at the most auspicious time. It’s very necessary that as a people we come together, and put our heads together to find a lasting solution to this problem of insecurity in our homeland.
“Our mainstay as a people is business, no business and indeed any other economic activity would thrive amid insecurity.
“If we put our minds to it and work in unity and mutual trust, we will find a way out of this problem that is alien to us.
“Let me therefore commend your excellencies, the governors of the Southeast for initiating the idea of the summit and working together to make this a reality.
“Let me urge everyone at this summit and those of us who are unable to attend in person to speak up, contribute ideas, and be part of the initiatives or actions that would be agreed upon at this summit to bring an end to the problem of insecurity in our region.
“God to guide us, grant us the wisdom, strength, and courage to take the necessary steps to end insecurity in our homeland so that we can continue to work with our God-given talent and energy to restore peace, tranquility in the Southeast and indeed our dear country Nigeria.”
“All the matters, based on law that were brought before the tribunal, had already been adjudged by the apex court in this country.”
The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi has said that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election would fail if he appeals the verdict of the Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) at the Supreme Court, which affirmed President Bola Tinubu’s win.
Recall that on Wednesday, September 6, the tribunal dismissed Peter Obi’s petition on grounds that it lacked merit. In a press conference he held on Thursday, September 7, Obi rejected the judgement and said he would be appealing it.
While speaking with newsmen in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital on Saturday, September 9, Umahi urged Obi not to appeal against the tribunal judgement, arguing that his appeal would also be thrown out by the Supreme Court.
“Throughout the campaign period and even now, I keep saying it boldly that God told me that Tinubu will be President of Nigeria. It was tough here in South East but I am very happy that Tinubu eventually became the President of this country. Like I said in Imo State, God has a purpose for everybody. There was John the Baptist, there was Christ and there is still Christ. Peter Obi has served the purpose of John the Baptist for the Divine President Bola Tinubu Ahmed, that’s all that God brought him to do this time around.
So, I advise him not to go to any court of appeal. I am not a Lawyer but the Governor of Ebonyi State is a Lawyer and he has interpreted the judgment and it has left no hope for any appeal. Those judges are spirits. They went into everything and dissected them just like getting a coconut and breaking it. You will get the water and everything and get the nut.
So, I advise him not to go to appeal, he is not even 2nd, he came 3rd at the election. he is our brother. Let South Eastern people come together to support President Tinubu. He made us the number one Minister even when we didn’t vote very well for him.
But we voted even very well more than other regions because through the calling of John the Baptist, we were able to bring down PDP and that is a victory for APC”.
Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi celebrated his beautiful wife, as she turned a year older on Saturday, September 9.
In a post shared on Instagram, he praised her for being the best partner and the best mother to their children.
He also appreciated her for travelling with him around the nation during his campaign for the presidential elections.
He wrote;
My Dearest Wife, I most sincerely congratulate you on your birthday anniversary today. You remain the best partner and the best mother to our dear children. Nigerian lawyer and spokesperson of the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council, Daniel Bwala, has alleged that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FTC), Nyesom Wike, rose to fame by betraying everyone who helped him.
- Bwala disclosed this in a post via X, formerly known as Twitter, in the wake of the loggerhead between Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the call for his suspension.
Bwala further claimed that the former Rivers governor has never been faithful to anyone who helped him.
The PDP chieftain made a list of some politicians Wike had deceived in the past, including the former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo and the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi.Accordingto Bwala, Wike is pretending to be loyal to President Bola Tinubu, with the assumption that he can scatter PDP and take control of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to advance his presidential ambition
- Hewrote: “Verifiable facts, Wike allegedly, has never been faithful or loyal to anyone that helped him; Rotimi Amaechi, Patience Jonathan, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. In fact, he deceived Peter Obi that he would support him, deceived Baba Obasanjo in London that he would support Peter Obi, deceived some members of his Gra gra 5 that he would support Obi, lied to Nigerians that APC is a cancer, and will never support APC government.
“While doing all this, he was secretly negotiating his selfish ambition. He is more disloyal to PDP than anyone he accuses. His weapon is Benjamin Franklins. Imagine a society of Wike’s imagination and wishes. Banana republic“Check it; every of his rise to fame has always been at the expense of those who helped him. Unfortunately for him, now he has found himself under a politician who knows every side of the political coin.
“In his small mind, he thinks while pretending to be loyal to Tinubu, he will scatter PDP and take control of the party in other to advance his presidential ambition against PBAT. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu must be smiling like a mouse that was served cookie and a glass of milk without asking for it.”
The Presidential Election Petitions Court has ruled that the Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, did not adequately outline how they obtained the majority of legitimate votes in the February 25 presidential election, Daily Trust reports.
In the lead judgment read by Justice Abba Bello Mohammed, said the political party made generic allegations of irregularities, suppression of votes and corrupt practices to rob them of their votes, especially in Rivers, Benue, Lagos, Taraba, Imo and Osun states but failed to specify the polling units affected.
Justice Mohammed further held that LP also failed to prove the allegations of overvoting against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and their actual reduced votes.
