Late Singer, Destiny Boy’s Father Raises Alarm Over Missing SUV

The father of late Afrobeat singer Afeez Adeshina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, has appealed to Nigerians for assistance after his son’s Sport Utility Vehicle went missing days after the artiste’s de@th.

In a video that went viral on Tuesday, the visibly distressed man expressed concern over the whereabouts of the SUV, alleging that the vehicle was returned to the dealership shortly after Destiny Boy’s passing and has not been seen since.

The grieving father explained that the vehicle was purchased from Lycon Autos and that he personally accompanied his son during the transaction.

According to him, the dealership assigned a driver to convey the SUV to their residence on the day of purchase, adding that the same driver was later retained by the singer for personal use.

He said, “Nigerians, please help me. My son has a car, and the car is with Lycon Autos. Although the car is not new, it is an SUV jeep. We went together to buy it.

“Lycon Autos assigned a driver for him that day to bring the car home. Later, Destiny started using the driver personally.”

He alleged that trouble started when the driver claimed that the singer was owing him money and subsequently returned the SUV to the dealership without informing the family.

“The driver said Destiny was owing him, so he took the car back to where we bought it from. I don’t even have the driver’s number. If the car were here, I would have gone to pick it up,” he added.

Destiny Boy d!ed on Sunday at the age of 22. His mother, Saida, had earlier disclosed that the singer battled a long-term mysterious illness described as “Ogu oru,” which often resulted in seizures.

Speaking on Monday, she said the family made efforts through medical, traditional and spiritual means to manage his condition, adding that it was kept away from the public due to his status as a rising music star.

She also dismissed rumours linking her son’s de@th to money rituals, describing such claims as false and insensitive.

Saida stressed that the family did everything within their means to ensure Destiny Boy was cured of the illness before his untimely de@th.

Late Nigerian Singer, Destiny Boy’s Mother Reveals The Real Cause Of His De@th (Video)

Saida, the mother of late Afrobeat singer Afeez Adeshina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, has opened up about the circumstances surrounding her son’s de@th.

The singer, who rose to fame in 2019 with his Fuji cover of Davido’s hit song If, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2025, after battling a long-term mysterious illness known as “Ogu oru,” which frequently caused seizures.

Speaking in a video that trended on Monday, Saida explained that her son’s condition had been closely managed by the family, traditional healers, and clerics.

She said the illness had almost taken a severe toll on him, but they kept it hidden from the public due to his superstar status.

“Destiny went to rest. When he gave birth to his child, about four days after the naming, we went to Oba Edu Ifayomi, who initiated him traditionally. The man likes him as his son, so that’s why he told us to come and collect a ram for the baby’s naming ceremony. It was then that the sickness caught up with him, causing him to fall.

“It was there that we took him to the hospital. Oba Edu said we should ensure he’s properly treated and that he will take care of himself. He kept sending us money even when he was transferred to about two other hospitals. When we saw the trend of the sickness, we told him that we should go traditional, and he said we should bring him to his place. I was the one he even gave the soap to bathe him.

“We returned, and he was fine. The sickness he battled with was ‘Ogu oru,’ which caused him to have seizures. The sickness had almost run him mad. We were the ones who always ensured that he didn’t run out in the process of calming him.”

She further dismissed rumours linking Destiny Boy to money rituals, saying: “Destiny Boy was not involved in money rituals. Those spreading such misinformation are just seeking attention from his de@th.”

Recalling his last days, she added: “On Saturday, he still bought things for people, greeted his fans, and said he had a show on Sunday. Even then, the seizure caught him again.”

Saida also recounted the family’s efforts to seek traditional treatment, including guidance from Oba Edu Ifayomi, who had been closely involved in his care.

The singer had recently celebrated the birth of his first child in November 2024.

Reports by the Ogun State Police Command stated that investigations into his de@th are ongoing and that further updates will be provided.
