Nina Ivy, the popular Nigerian reality TV star, recently faced backlash for advocating for early childbirth, specifically in one’s 20s.
She had earlier stated her preference for having children in her 20s and expressed openness to using a sperm donor if necessary.
In response to the backlash, Nina clarified her views in a series of Instagram posts, acknowledging that everyone’s journey is unique and apologising for any offence her comments may have caused.
She explained that she intended to highlight the benefits of having children in their 20s, such as fostering strong relationships and having more energy to raise them.
Nina also pointed out that challenges can arise at any age and encouraged focusing on the positives and valuing each individual’s journey.
“I understand your concern and didn’t mean to sound insensitive. However, you’re right that many women don’t have control over when they can have children, but it’s also true and doesn’t change the fact that some do have that choice. My comment was meant to reflect that diversity of experiences. I recognize that everyone’s journey is different, and I appreciate the chance to clarify my perspective, which I also did on my Snapchat the day I made that post, blogs always choose what they want to post anyway.
“Losses can happen whether you choose to have kids in your 20s or 50s but I believe it’s important to focus on the beautiful and positive aspects of life rather than dwelling on the negatives. Just as some may face challenges with early parenthood, others may encounter them even if they have children later. Let’s try to see the bright side and appreciate the good things we have. Everyone’s experience is different and that’s okay”, she wrote.
Nina also reiterated that her perspective is based on her own experiences and observations, and she respects differing opinions.
“I believe that having kids in your 20s can be the best option because it often allows you to have more energy and time to raise your children, while also giving you more years later in life to pursue other goals once they are grown. I also think it can be beneficial for building a strong, long-lasting relationship with your children as you grow together. Example “Omoni Oboli”.
“This is my perspective based on my own experiences and observations. I understand that everyone’s situation is different, and it’s completely okay if you don’t agree with me.
“You can’t shove your opinion on my throat the same way I’m not shoving mine on yours. PS: You don’t have to agree with me either and that’s okay”, she added.
Wanni, the Big Brother Naija ‘No Loose Guard’ housemate, has claimed that fellow housemate Ben was caught touching her twin sister Handi’s nipple while she was sleeping.

Wanni: “He will pay dearly. Stuff like that happened and I couldn’t do anything about it. But this one, never!”
Shaun: “What happened to you?”
Wanni: “Something weird happened to her [Handi] yesterday, Ben came to wake her up but before he woke her up, he touched her nipple. He will pay!”
Biggie has yet to address the sexual harassment allegations.
