Supreme Court Upholds Tinubu’s Victory

The Supreme Court affirmed the election of President Bola Tinubu while dismissing the appeal filed by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of the Labour Party on Thursday.

The court held that Tinubu was duly elected as President in the February 25 presidential election.

The apex court in its ruling held that the appeal filed by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, lacked merit.

It also dismissed the appeal by Peter Obi of Labour Party.

“On the whole, having resolved all the issues against the appellant, it is my view that there is no merit in the appeal and it is hereby dismissed,” Justice Inyang Okoro said.

“The judgment of the court below delivered on September 6th 2023 affirming the election of the second respondent as the duly elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is hereby affirmed.”

Atiku had approached the court to overturn the judgment of the presidential election petition tribunal which affirmed Tinubu’s election as president.

Tinubu Will Be Victorious – Presidency On Supreme Court Giving Final Verdict In Atiku, Obi’s Petitions Thursday

Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, has expressed hope that the Supreme Court will affirm the president’s victory in the February 25 presidential election.

Onanuga made the remark in reaction to the Supreme Court’s announced date to give its verdict on the appeals filed by presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, and Labour Party, LP’s Peter Obi.

Atiku and Obi had filed appeals before the apex court challenging Tinubu’s victory in the last presidential election.

However, the Supreme Court said it would pass a final verdict on the appeals on Thursday.

Reacting, Onanuga posted on X: “The Supreme Court will give its verdict tomorrow in the appeals filed by the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi; the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

“They are challenging the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, President Bola Tinubu in the 25 February election.

“We in the APC are hopeful for victory. We are hopeful that the apex court will affirm the sanctity of the 8.9m votes of Nigerians that gave President Tinubu victory last February.”

We Urge Tinubu To Get His 1970 Certificate From Govt College, Lagos – Shaibu

Nigeria’s former vice president Atiku Abubakar has challenged President Bola Tinubu to release his 1970 school certificate from Government College, Lagos.

Atiku was reacting after Tinubu’s camp called him out because his change of name affidavit was found to have been signed on Saturday.

According to Atiku, his affidavit was just one of the documents endorsed by Lagos State Registry at weekends in 1973, his spokesman, Phrank Shaibu, revealed.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Sunday, he said the Atiku team had to carry out research to determine the veracity of the allegation raised by aides of President Bola Tinubu, only to make the discovery that it was not unusual for the registry to sign documents on Saturday.

Using slides to display some of the court papers he said were signed on Saturday by the Lagos registry, Shaibu, who was joined by his colleague, Paul Ibe, said the Atiku team had to do the research knowing the character of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election.

He said that: “Since the discovery of documents with Chicago State University brought to the fore the litany of certificate forgeries and impersonation by President Bola A. Tinubu, there have been attempts by many of his media aides to create a parallel narrative about the public life of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

“It was obvious from the start of their journey into futility that what the media aides and supporters of Bola A. Tinubu were doing was a random bite of the public profile of Atiku Abubakar until they found an item they could chomp with their filthy teeth.

“It was amusing watching them run kiti-kata like a person who drinks water and drops a cup—as we say in Naija parlance—of a restless soul on a fruitless journey.

“So, eventually, they found that the affidavit that Atiku Abubakar deposed to on August 18, 1973, wherein he expressed his wishes to be publicly known as Atiku Abubakar, was signed on a Saturday.

“And voila! The APC e-rats found what they had been looking for.

“For them, it isn’t important that the person called Bola A. Tinubu was discovered to be the name of a female, nor was it important that Bola A. Tinubu forged a certificate he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission or that Bola A. Tinubu is the Guinea pig student of the Government College Lagos, who was used to test run the school four years before it was founded.

“All that mattered to them was to pick a hole in Atiku Abubakar’s public profile.

“Like the late Fela Anikulapo said: I be thief, you be robber! You are also a thief, which is not a defence to an accusation of theft. They thought they had found someone else to share the inglorious stage of certificate forgery with.

“So, it was found out that Atiku’s affidavit was signed on a Saturday, and they went into a frenzy, oiled as a diesel train.”

He further said, “They blare and burn all decency. They have found a mate in their naked state. Oh Lord! Atiku’s affidavit was signed on a Saturday! They screamed.

“The sound of it mesmerises and intoxicates them. They get around as oiled as a diesel train!

“But because we know the character of the man that we work for, we knew that their frenzy was all vain hallucinations.

“We conducted research into the registry of the Lagos State high courts in the same year, 1973, to see if it was really an absurdity to have court papers signed on a Saturday.

“The outcome of our findings showed clearly that there are court papers that were signed on Saturdays in the year 1973! Atiku Abubakar’s affidavit was not the only one signed on Saturday, as the cornmen would want you to believe.”

Shaibu advised President Tinubu to emulate Atiku and clear all doubts regarding his documents.

He noted: “A practitioner of democracy, especially someone who sits on the chair of a president, must live above board.

“A president must mirror the moral rectitude of trust and transparency.

“To be called the president of a country is to be an approximation of the values that such a country stands for. Nigeria does not stand for forgeries and impersonation.

“It is, therefore, on this note that we, yet again, call on President Bola A. Tinubu to follow the example of Atiku Abubakar to clear the air about all doubts and kuru kere about his past.

“Since Lagos is his domain, we ask Bola A. Tinubu to boldly walk into Government College Lagos and make available to the world, just as we have done today, a copy of his 1970 certificate with which he sought admission into the Chicago State University. He may as well tell us about the business centre inside Oluwole Market in Lagos, where he printed the forged Chicago State University certificate that he presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

“And if, assuming the president is afraid to come out clean, we can only assume at this point that Bola A. Tinubu has some skeletons in his closet, he should feel free to confide in us what those skeletons are.

“It is embarrassing enough that the FBI and other anti-crime agencies in the United States are poised to start releasing information on our president any moment from now.

“It is more embarrassing that President Bola A. Tinubu will fight tooth and nail to block those discoveries about his past, saying such will cause him irreparable damage. Bola A. Tinubu needs to be reminded that what the FBI and other US security agencies are set to do by releasing the #FBITinubuFiles will undoubtedly cause Nigeria irreparable damage!

“Nigeria is a country of laws, and no one single man or woman, no matter how highly placed, is bigger than our laws.

“We hope that this discovery into Atiku’s Saturday affidavit by his own media team will rest this issue and provide the opportunity for Bola A. Tinubu’s team to come clean with its decades of forgeries and lies. Nigerians are waiting for them to put an end to this kindergarten, Tom and Jerry, that has done nothing but bring embarrassment and humiliation to our country and its people.”

Certificate Saga: Obi Didn’t Impersonate Late Brother – Spokesman Slams Arambabi

The Chief Spokesman for the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Organisation, Yunusa Tanko has slammed Abayomi Arambabi, calling him a hatchet jobber for claiming its flag bearer, Peter Obi, used his brother’s University of Nigeria academic certificate.
According to Tanko, the Lamidi Apapa faction of Labour Party are desperately trying to make Obi look like a bad product before the Nigerian electorate.
The campaign spokesman gave the rebuttal in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday.
Recall that the Abayomi Arabambi, had on Thursday alleged some discrepancies in the academic certificates of the former Anambra governor.
Arabambi raised the observation when he featured in an interview on AIT News.
The development is coming in the wake of controversy that trails President Bola Tinubu’s Chicago State University certificate.
Obi and his Peoples Democratic Party counterpart, Atiku Abubakar, had dragged the president at different press conferences amid controversy over the authenticity of the credentials he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
While Atiku accused Tinubu of parading forged academic documents, Obi challenged the former Lagos governor to reveal his true identity to Nigerians.
However, Arabambi, on the live television programme stated that it was unfair of the LP candidate to drag the president when he also has discrepancies in his academic qualifications.
While disclosing that he (Arabambi) was among the panel who screened Obi before the LP presidential primary, the factional spokesman alleged that the name on the academic certificate Obi claimed to have bagged from the University of Nigeria in Nsukka contradicts the name on that of his National Youth Service Corps.
Reacting to the allegation on Monday, Tanko berated Arabambi who he said was one of the few expelled members of the party parading themselves as members.
While debunking the allegation of impersonation, the campaign spokesman reiterated that his principal couldn’t have been parading his late brother’s UNN certificate since both studied different courses.
He said, “Obi in his capacity as Labour Party standard bearer had innocuously advised the embattled President to rest the certificate-gate around him and save the country further embarrassment by reintroducing himself and putting the records straight.

“A simple patriotic advisory that was informed by belief in anything that is connected to national development, but their hirelings, freebooters and lawless adventurers prefer to insult our candidate with fabrications.

“In one of his pieces of fiction, they claimed that Obi was impersonating his dead senior brother; a farce, slapstick comedy from hell. Obi’s most senior brother is alive. One of his senior brothers who died was in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN years ahead of Obi and read Computer Science while Obi read Philosophy.

Continuing, the campaign spokesman of Obi-Datti campaign organisation further labelled the Lamidi Apapa faction as ‘political hirelings and buccaneers indulged in menial work of character assassination to ostensibly soil the name of our Presidential candidate.’
Tanko also stressed that it is on record that both Arabambi and Apapa are no longer with the leadership of LP.
“At the forefront of these malicious hatchet jobbers, is Dr Abayomi Arambabi, who dubiously continues even to identify himself as a member and Publicity Secretary of Labour Party. He and Chief Lamidi Apapa have been going about merchandising with the name of the party and endlessly castigating our flag bearer who we are proud to say is the most popular and loved Nigerian politician today.

“As they go about using the name of the party, none has said anything positive about Peter Obi as the presidential candidate of the party they claim. That speaks volumes. Instead, they have even been more vociferous against Peter Obi than their sponsors, yet they claim they are of the Labour Party.

“Is it not time the media houses blacklist them for wearing the devil’s coat and speaking on the saint’s platform. After all, none of them or their family members voted for Peter Obi,” he stated.

Atiku, Peter Obi Should Be Arrested For Questioning Tinubu’s Identity – APC National Secretary, Ajibola

Senator Bashiru Ajibola, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that the presidetial candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Labour Party, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi should be charged with treason.

Recall that Obi had during a press conference on Wednesday in Abuja asked Tinubu to reintroduce himself to Nigerians and clarify the issues of his identity.

The LP flagbearer also asked President Tinubu to particularly disclose his real names, state of origin, and where he served when he did the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Reacting to Obi’s press conference in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Ajibola said Tinubu does not need reintroduction because Nigerians are aware of his credentials.

The former Spokesman of the Senate said Atiku and Obi are suffering from the trauma of their electoral loss because they are serial losers, stressing that they need “psychiatrist evaluation”.

The APC scribe asserted that the former Vice President and the former Governor of Anambra State should be charged with treason for questioning the identity of the President.

But the APC said Nigerians are aware of Tinubu’s credentials, stressing there was no need for a new introduction.

He said: “Obi must know that President Tinubu does not need a re-introduction. He does not have any identity problem, except the one contrived by the Atikus and Peters of our political firmament.

“As for President Tinubu’s academic record at the Chicago State University, the facts are clear and settled except for those political jaundiced by the trauma of electoral defeat.

“I think Atiku and Obi should be charged with treason for questioning the identity of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

Dismiss Atiku’s Appeal, It Lacks Merit – Tinubu Tells Supreme Court

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Supreme Court to dismiss the appeal filed by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), because it lacks merit.

Tinubu, who was the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 election, said this in a response filed by his lawyers on Saturday to Atiku’s notice of appeal.

Recall that the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, in its judgment on September 6, dismissed the petition filed by Atiku challenging the outcome of the February 25 presidential election.

According to the tribunal, the former Vice President failed to prove all the averments in his petition, stressing that his petitions lacked merit and was dismissed.

However, Atiku filed 35 grounds notice of appeal before the Supreme Court on September 18 and asked the apex court to set aside the entire findings and conclusions of the tribunal.

In the appeal, the PDP candidate submitted that the tribunal’s findings were done with “grave errors and gross misrepresentation”, which resulted in a miscarriage of justice.

In response to the appeal filed by Atiku, President Tinubu stated that the presidential election petition tribunal was correct in arriving at its verdict and affirming his election.

The president insisted that the appellants failed to prove all their allegations and submissions at the tribunal, adding that they have demonstrated any reason why the apex court should disturb any of the findings of the lower court.

Tinubu, however, described the appeal filed by the PDP candidate as “abusive in nature” and prayed for its dismissal.

He said: “Neither the appellants have demonstrated any reason why this honourable court should disturb any of the findings of the lower court, which, with all modesty, are rooted in law and a perfect demonstration of scholarship.

“We accordingly urge this honourable court to affirm the decision of the lower court, while dismissing this appeal in its entirety, as same is lacking in merit and bona fide.

“Everything put together or summarized, this appeal is a further demonstration of the abusive nature to which the appellants have subjected court processes. The supreme court is urged to dismiss it.

You Will Explain Without Evidence – APC Slams Atiku Over Alleged WAEC Certificate Forgery

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a swipe at Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over the name on the secondary school certificate he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The disclosure that Sadiq Abubakar and not Atiku is the name on the WAEC certificate of the former vice president has sparked mixed reactions on the political scene.

Following the disclosure of the discrepancy, Atiku, on Tuesday, denied forging the certificate through one of his allies, Dele Momodu.

According to Momodu, the former vice president used the name Sadiq for his WAEC exam and, after that, swore to an affidavit that Sadiq Abubakar was the same person as Atiku Abubakar.

He said“Yes, I used Sadiq Abubakar to sit for my WAEC, and after passing my exams, I went to swear an affidavit to say I am the same person as ATIKU Abubakar.

“I went to ABU as Atiku Abubakar and passed my Exams as Atiku Abubakar. Interviewed as Atiku Abubakar by the Federal Civil Service Commission and hired into the Customs Service as Atiku Abubakar. So where is forgery there?’

Reacting to the development, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, has said it does not make sense that Atiku would have another name on his WAEC certificate and his real name on other certificates.

The APC spokesman asserted that the former vice president is morally corrupt and is accusing President Bola Tinubu of certificate forgery.

Speaking on Tuesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Morka said the PDP presidential candidate will continue to explain himself without any evidence.

Why Obi Can’t Work With Tinubu’s Government — Labour Party

The Labour Party has said it is impossible for its presidential candidate, Peter Obi to work with President Bola Tinubu’s government.
The party made the revelation in two separate interviews with the National Publicity Secretary of LP, Obiora Ifoh and the National Legal Adviser of LP, Kehinde Edun, according to a report by Punch.
The party’s position is coming six days after the former Anambra State governor shaded the president on Arise TV’s ‘Morning Show’ following the controversy surrounding his academic records at Chicago State University.
Obi stated that any leader who falsifies his credentials or age cannot be trusted to do the right thing and is unfit to lead the people.
He said, “We are at the point where we are challenging the process and that has to come to a logical end before any other thing. These are parts of what makes a nation. The processes through which people assume office are far more than what they do thereafter. It is important that people come in through the right door and not just jump in through the window and keep saying ‘Let’s move on.’

“The issue of qualification is the issue of leaders making statements and doing things that are honest and truthful. This is an issue of honour and integrity.

“If you look at what is happening in Nigeria today, there are so many issues of certificates, age, and all sorts of one falsification or the other with the leaders. There is no way people can do this and be able to do the right thing. That means they are living a falsified life.”
A few days after Obi’s scathing remark, his party also admonished the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, not to drag the LP candidate into his feud with the president.
The party was reacting to an earlier call by Atiku, for Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso to join his crusade in exposing the alleged dirty secrets of the president.
The reaction of LP was seen by some people as a possibility that Obi would prefer to work with Tinubu than team up with his former PDP ally, Atiku.
But the national legal adviser of LP insisted that such a figment of imagination can never come to reality, reiterating that Obi has already made his stance known.
He said, “I think Obi has something he is pursuing, especially when we are sure we won the election. So it will be out of place for us to now say we want to work with this government. As far as LP is concerned, we are waiting for the Supreme Court to set aside the decision of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal that will pronounce Obi as the winner. That’s what we are waiting for.

“This is why we cannot be talking about Obi, somebody who is the owner of the mandate, working with somebody who is a pretender to the office. Until we see to the end of this case at the Supreme Court, it is not over.”
Sharing the same sentiment, the party’s spokesman also insisted that the LP candidate can’t be distracted by such a notion as he is presently focused on reclaiming his ‘stolen mandate’ from the apex court.
“We are still in the process of reclaiming our stolen mandate through our appeal at the Supreme Court. There is no way our candidate can be seen working for this government. For now, he is focused on the appeal at the apex,” he said.

CSU Certificate: Presidency Twists Facts To Confuse Public, Atiku Alleges

Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, has alleged that the presidency twisted facts to confuse the mind of the public regarding President Bola Tinubu’s Chicago State University academic records.

The PUNCH reports that the CSU released Tinubu’s academic record to Atiku after weeks of legal tussle, and the former vice president on Friday filed the CSU documents as fresh evidence at the Supreme Court.

Atiku and Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, had filed 86 grounds of appeal at the Supreme Court to nullify the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal’s judgment that affirmed Tinubu’s victory.

The former VP in a statement by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, on Sunday, alleged that some media aides to the president have come out openly to “push back on the narrative.”

He alleged further that some media houses have persistently slanted their story to justify a corrupted interpretation of the facts in the disposition.

He insisted that Tinubu falsified a document he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission and swore an affidavit under oath to back it up.

According to him, “On page 26 of the deposition which is publicly available, the Registrar of the Chicago State University, Caleb Westberg, under oath, was asked a simple question that, “CSU has determined that it does not have a true and correct copy of the diploma issued to Bola Tinubu is 1979, correct? To which the Registrar responded, That’s correct.”

“Also, on page 27, a similar question was put to Mr. Westberg: So, CSU, after going through every diploma, was unable to find an authentic copy of any diploma that CSU issued to Tinubu in 1979. Is that correct? The CSU Registrar, in his response, said: We did not find any diploma issued by CSU in 1979 to Mr. Tinubu.”

Atiku’s aide revealed that when asked whether the CSU is aware of or in possession of the diploma that Tinubu submitted to INEC,” Mr. Westberg simply said, “Correct, we are not aware of it.”
