Deontay Wilder Calls Anthony Joshua Vs Jake Paul Fight ‘Scripted’ Ahead Of Miami Showdown

Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has sparked debate ahead of Anthony Joshua’s highly anticipated showdown with Jake Paul, hinting that the fight may have been carefully staged.

Speaking to FightHub TV before the fight on December 19 at the Kaseya Centre in Miami, Wilder questioned the authenticity of the heavyweight contest between the two-time unified champion Joshua and YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul.

The fight marks another bold step for Paul, who shocked the boxing world in 2024 when he defeated former heavyweight great Mike Tyson after the latter came out of retirement. However, Deontay Wilder believes stepping into the ring with an active and elite fighter like Joshua presents a completely different level of danger.

“In my opinion, I think it’s (the fight between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua) scripted a little bit because of the weight difference, and Joshua is active. This is going to be the first time that we see (Jake) Paul fighting an active fighter,”
Wilder said.

“We’ve seen him with Mike Tyson, that was all fun, that was cute…but now you’re dealing with a real professional, so we’ll see how it ends up.”

The bout is expected to be a major commercial event, with Joshua and Paul reportedly set to earn at least $40 million each. The eight-round fight will be contested using 10-ounce gloves, while regulations state that Joshua must not weigh more than 245 pounds on fight night.

Despite the hype, the professionally sanctioned heavyweight contest has sparked serious concern within boxing circles. Naija News reports that Muhammad Ali’s grandson, Nico Ali, alongside former world champion Amir Khan, have both warned that Paul could be putting his life at risk by facing a fighter of Joshua’s calibre.

Ex-Heavyweight Champion, Anthony Joshua Insists Tyson Fury Fight Now ‘More Possible Than Ever’

Nigerian-born British heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua, says a long-anticipated clash with Tyson Fury is finally within sight, asserting that the British heavyweight showdown “is now more possible than ever.”

In a chat with Marca, the former unified world champion said Fury has finally run out of excuses and must face him next.

“I think it’s very possible. I think it’s more possible now than ever. He has no options anymore. He has to fight me,”
Anthony Joshua said.

His comments come weeks after Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, revealed that the former WBC champion was more interested in a third fight with Oleksandr Usyk than in the all-British clash fans have been waiting for.

“The fight he really wants is another go with Mr Usyk; he really wants that,”
Warren told Sky Sports in October.

Fury, who briefly announced his fifth retirement earlier this year, has endured back-to-back losses to Usyk, both on points. Those defeats remain the only blemishes on his professional record.

The rivalry between Joshua and Fury has been simmering for years. Talks for a fight have collapsed more than once, leaving fans frustrated as both men took different paths in their careers.

Joshua, 35, appears eager to seize his last chance to reclaim the heavyweight division’s top spot. He has spoken about wanting to match Muhammad Ali’s record by becoming a three-time world champion, and he sees Fury as the key to that dream.

Time is running out for both fighters, and Joshua seems convinced the moment has finally arrived.

“I’ve always said, it’s not a matter of if, but when,” he added, hinting that one of boxing’s biggest rivalries might finally get the ending fans have been waiting for.

Anthony Joshua Is Scared Of Me – Congolese Heavyweight Boxer, Bakole Declares

Martin Bakole, the Congolese heavyweight, has boldly claimed that he would knock out Anthony Joshua if they were to face off in the ring in Nigeria, vowing to do so in front of Joshua’s home crowd.

Joshua is being lined up for a comeback fight in Nigeria early next year following his loss to Daniel Dubois in a world heavyweight title bout at Wembley Stadium in September last year.

Bakole, a former sparring partner of Joshua, has volunteered to face the British-Nigerian boxer in what he described as ‘the Rumble in the Jungle II.’

“I’d take the fight with Anthony Joshua in a heartbeat. We are both African fighters, and now we’re seeing boxing come back to Africa,” Bakole told Sky Sports.

“Anthony Joshua doesn’t want to fight me. He knows what happened in sparring. If we get in the ring, I’m going to knock him out, without doubt.

“I’ll even knock him out in Nigeria, in front of his own crowd. This is the fight to make. And we need to make it in Africa. It’ll be the Rumble in the Jungle II.”

Promoter Dr Ezekiel Adamu, who recently staged the successful Chaos in the Ring event in Lagos in association with Amir Khan, confirmed that Bakole is among several options being considered for Joshua’s return.

“He is an option. There are a lot of options being thrown at us for this particular fight, but – yes – Martin Bakole is here,”
Adamu told Sky Sports News.

“We have a lot of options that we’ll be looking at, and we believe that we’ll come up with something really exciting that will excite the whole world and obviously bring proper excitement to Africa as well, especially Nigeria.”

Adamu disclosed that Nigeria, with its population of about 250 million people and status as Africa’s economic capital, is ideally positioned to host the fight.

Joshua’s team had previously considered Ghana as a potential location for his comeback bout, but Nigeria appears to be gaining traction as the preferred destination.

Nigeria’s Efe Ajagba Enters Boxing Top 10 As Anthony Joshua Drops Out

The heavyweight division is once again making headlines as The Ring magazine, a leading authority in boxing rankings, has released its latest list, revealing significant changes at the top.

At the summit remains Oleksandr Usyk, the reigning champion, whose clinical skills and historic victories have cemented his place as the man to beat.

Right behind him is Tyson Fury at No. 1, still considered the biggest threat to Usyk after their unforgettable clash.

Joseph Parker continues his resurgence by climbing to No. 2, while Germany’s Agit Kabayel breaks into the top three, shaking up the traditional order. Daniel Dubois and Filip Hrgovic, both hungry young lions, take the fourth and fifth spots, proving the next generation of heavyweights is coming on strong.

Further down the list, Britain’s Fabio Wardley holds steady at No. 6, followed by the dangerous Chinese powerhouse Zhilei Zhang at No. 7. Congo’s Martin Bakole comes in at No. 8, with teenage sensation Moses Itauma breaking into the top ten at No. 9, showing that youth is beginning to shape the future of the division.

But perhaps the biggest talking point is Nigeria’s own Efe Ajagba, who re-enters the rankings at No. 10. Known for his devastating knockout power, Ajagba has battled his way back into contention, and his presence signals that African boxing still has a strong voice in the heavyweight picture.

In a surprising twist, Anthony Joshua drops out of the rankings altogether. Once a dominant force and global superstar, Joshua has been inactive for over a year, and inactivity has cost him his place in the top ten.

Anthony Joshua to Fight Winner Between Fury, Usyk

Former Boxing champion, Anthony Joshua will fight the winner between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.
That will be if Joshua defeats Daniel Dubois in September.
This was revealed by Boxing promoter, Eddie Hearn.
Joshua’s last bout came in March, when he knocked out former UFC champions, Francis Ngannou, in the second round.
In an interview with the UK Sun, Hearn noted that their first priority is for Joshua to regain the world heavyweight title.
He said: “I expect the winner of the December fight to fight Anthony Joshua, if he wins in September.

“There’s no decision yet made on the opponent, there’s three or four in the mix. But yeah, that’s the absolute plan.

“The first priority is to regain the world heavyweight title and obviously undisputed has always been the dream.

“So I think we’re two fights away from becoming undisputed. But, we’ve got to win them.”
Last month, Usyk beat Fury via split decision in a historic showdown.
The Ukrainian’s win saw him become the first boxer since Lennox Lewis in 1999 to unify the heavyweight division, taking the WBC title off Fury and adding it to his WBA (Super), WBO, IBF and IBO titles.

Anthony Joshua Will Beat Francis Ngannou Inside 3 Rounds – Hearn Makes New Claim

Eddie Hearn, the British sports promoter, has made a new claim. He claimed that Anthony Joshua could beat Francis Ngannou in three rounds despite the MMA fighter making Tyson Fury look like a novice during Saturday’s ‘Battle of the Baddest’.

The Gypsy King anticipated a rout in Riyadh ahead of the crossover clash but was taken the distance by Ngannou over 10 rounds.

Ngannou managed to drop Fury but the fight ended with Fury claiming victory by split decision, setting up a forthcoming clash against Oleskandr Usyk.

But the Matchroom promoter was the latest voice to express his surprise at the result, calling Fury’s performance ‘dreadful’. ‘People saying “oh, he’s let the boxing world down” – I don’t think that really matters,’ Hearn told The Hook on Tuesday.
