Monday Jatau, 28, from Angwan Sabo in Akwanga, can see again after 20 years of blindness.
He says the Jennifer Etuh Foundation made it happen through two eye surgeries.
His problems started when his right eye was hit by his blind father’s walking stick on the way to a market.
His father tried traditional treatments, but nothing worked, and he died the same year.
Jatau later lost sight in his left eye too.
He said his wife left him with their two children, and there were days the family had no food.
He heard about the free medical outreach from his church pastor and made his way to Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital in Akwanga, even though he had no money.
A team of 82 professionals from across the country took part.
The eye doctor, Dr Clement Tenufa, said most cases were cataract and pterygium.
Other patients were screened for high blood pressure, hepatitis B and C, malaria and blood sugar.
Many adults were found to have high blood pressure, and some children had malaria.
Programme manager Joe Otu said the foundation will keep bringing healthcare to people who need it most.
