The EFCC has reportedly reopened its investigation into former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
The move follows a petition from former House of Representatives member Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma, who wants Atiku prosecuted over alleged financial crimes.
The petition asks the anti-graft agency to revisit a 2006 investigation carried out under former chairman Nuhu Ribadu.
It also asks the EFCC to consider a February 4, 2010 report by a US Senate subcommittee.
The petition is dated August 27, 2026, and was received on September 1.
It was filed through his lawyer, Chief Hannibal Egbe Uwaifo SAN.
He said the matter should not be left unresolved and that the law applies to both rich and poor.
He argued that the EFCC once said Atiku could face prosecution after leaving office, when his immunity as vice president ended, but no charges followed.
He called that a failure of duty.
EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale had not responded to requests for an update at the time of reporting.
