American singer Chris Brown has been handed an eight-month suspended prison sentence in the United Kingdom over his involvement in an attack on music producer Abraham Diaw at a London nightclub in February 2023.
The sentence was suspended for 12 months, meaning the singer will not serve immediate prison time but could face imprisonment if he breaches the conditions of the suspension.
Akinlolu, 40, was also handed a four-month suspended prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. Both men were ordered to pay £1,500 in costs.
During sentencing, Judge Tony Baumgartner described the attack as dangerous, warning that hitting someone on the head with a glass bottle could have caused more serious injuries. He also stressed that commercial success would not earn defendants preferential treatment in court.
The sentencing concludes the criminal proceedings over the nightclub incident, with Brown avoiding immediate imprisonment.
