Joao Felix’s red card on his Premier League debut for Chelsea against Fulham on Thursday, January 13, will cost the London-based club a whopping £2.1 million.
Felix was shown a red card over a high tackle on a Fulham defender, Kenny Tete, during the match which the Cottagers won 2-1.
This is coming after Chelsea agreed to pay a loan fee of £9m in a 6-month deal with Atletico Madrid for Felix. The London club will also cover Felix’s wages during his spell in west London, estimated to be worth £6m.
It is expected the deal will cost Chelsea £15m in the remaining 21 Premier League games, including Thursday’s defeat to Fulham.

Chelsea will be paying £714,286 per game to have Felix as part of their squad as they aim to recover from a disastrous start to the season that has seen them hanging at the 10th position.
Following the red card, Felix will now miss the Blues’ Premier League games with Liverpool, Fulham, and West Ham. This three-game suspension for Felix will cost his new club £2,142,858.
