It Was God’s Mercy That Saved Anthony Joshua — Pastor Adeboye Says

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has credited the survival of British-Nigerian boxing champion Anthony Joshua in a potentially fatal car crash to what he described as God’s mercy.

Adeboye spoke on Sunday during the church’s monthly thanksgiving service, while illustrating the role of divine mercy in preservation, citing Joshua’s accident.

Joshua escaped death in the road accident that occurred on the busy Lagos–Ibadan Expressway last Monday.

The crash claimed the lives of two of his friends — Ayodele Kelvin, a 36-year-old Nigerian-British citizen, and Gami Sina, also 36, a British citizen — while others sustained injuries.

While explaining the value of God’s mercy in preservation, Adeboye said, “Lamentations 3:22–23 says it is by the mercies of the Lord that we are not consumed. We are alive because of the mercies of the Lord, not because of cleverness.”

“I read in the newspapers yesterday that our boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, exchanged seats with someone before the accident.

“The people he exchanged seats with died. I don’t know why, but the mercy of God said someone would still be alive today,” he said.

The cleric, who took his message from Psalm 89:1, noted that the use of singular expressions in the Psalms underscores personal importance.

“I have informed us in the past that whenever something is very important to David, he uses the singular to express himself. When you hear him say, ‘The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want,’ it is personal.

“I want you to take this message personally. Maybe one or two people can join me in attaching meaning to it. I am talking to myself,” he said.

BREAKING: NNPCL Drops Petrol Price Again

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has once again reduced the price of premium motor spirit.

According to Daily Post, a check by journalists who went round Abuja on Monday morning, showed that NNPCL retail outlets have reduced their fuel price to N815 per liter, down from N835.

This means that the NNPCL filling stations cut their price by N20.

The fresh price has been implemented at NNPCL filling stations in Wuse Zone 6 and 4 Abuja, Keffi-Abuja Road, and Kubwa Expressway.

An NNPCL filling station attendant, who preferred anonymity, told Daily Post that the new price was implemented on Sunday evening.

However, the N815 per liter is N79 higher than the N739 per liter sold at Dangote Refinery’s backed MRS filling stations nationwide.

Recall that NNPCL on December 19, 2025, cut its price of petrol by N80 to N835 amid a price war among players in the country’s oil downstream sector triggered by Dangote Refinery’s gantry price reduction to N699 per liter.

Why Nigerians May Be Banned From All Countries – Shehu Sani

Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has warned that unless urgent action is taken, Nigerians could face bans from the rest of the world in the near future.

Sani issued this warning in a post via his official X handle on Saturday, in response to the deportation of Nigerians by the Canadian government.

626Blaze reports that Canada deported no fewer than 366 Nigerians between January and October 2025, as the country stepped up immigration enforcement at its fastest pace in more than a decade.

Reacting, the former lawmaker said: “Canada has been a second home to thousands of Nigerians who live, study, or work there. It’s the most liberal country when it comes to immigration and accommodating Nigerians.

“The recent deportations of Nigerians from Canada are a wake-up call. Our unscrupulous citizens, involved in crime and abusing the benevolence and generosity of the Canadian people, are not helpful to our country’s image.

“We either tackle the few among us, or we may wake up one day banned by the rest of the world.”

House Of Reps Releases Tax Reform Acts To Address Discrepancy

The National Assembly has issued the Certified True Copies (CTCs) of four landmark tax reform Acts recently signed into law by President Bola Tinubu, making them available for public record, verification, and reference.

House of Representatives Spokesman Akin Rotimi said the release was directed by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen.

He explained that the documents include the endorsement and assent pages personally signed by the President.

According to Rotimi, the decision followed public concerns and allegations about possible alterations to the laws, as well as the circulation of unauthorised and misleading versions.

The release, he said, is intended to eliminate doubts, restore clarity, and protect the integrity of the legislative process.

The four Acts released are: The Nigeria Tax Act, 2025; The Nigeria Tax Administration Act, 2025; The National Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, 2025; and The Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Act, 2025.

Rotimi stressed that the National Assembly remains vigilant in safeguarding the sanctity of its legislative work, noting that only the certified and officially released versions constitute the authentic and authoritative tax laws.

He disclosed that the House’s attention was drawn to inconsistencies in versions of the tax laws in circulation after a member identified discrepancies and formally raised the issue on a point of privilege.

Acting swiftly, the Speaker ordered an internal verification and the immediate public release of the certified Acts.

Rotimi added that, from the initiation of the tax reform process through extensive stakeholder consultations, committee scrutiny, clause-by-clause consideration, plenary debates, and eventual passage, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen provided firm leadership to ensure the reforms were evidence-based, inclusive, and aligned with Nigeria’s fiscal realities and development priorities.

He noted that the Speaker consistently emphasised that tax reform must be anchored on clarity, fairness, and strict adherence to constitutional and parliamentary procedures.

The four Acts, Rotimi said, form the backbone of Nigeria’s contemporary tax reform architecture, designed to modernise revenue administration, improve compliance, reduce inefficiencies, eliminate duplication, and strengthen fiscal coordination across the federation.

Malami And Son To Remain In Kuje Prison Till January 7

Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, along with his son, Abubakar Abdulaziz Malami, will remain in Kuje Prison until January 7, when their bail applications are set to be decided.

Justice Emeka Nwite issued the order on Friday after taking arguments for and against the bail applications filed by Malami and his son, who are on trial over a N9 billion money laundering charge brought against them by the Federal Government.

Ex-AGF, Abubakar Malami, Two Others Begin Bail Battle On N9bn Corruption Charges

Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, and his son, Abubakar Abdulaziz Malami, will on Monday, December 2, begin a bail battle over the N9 billion corruption charges filed against them by the federal government.

Malami, his son and one Hajia Bashir Asabe, a staff of Ramadiya Property Limited currently in Kuje prison on remand, are expected to be brought before the Federal High Court in Abuja to resume the battle for bail from prison custody.

Justice Emeka Nwite had on Tuesday fixed today to hear their bail argument after their arraignment on 16-count money laundering offences.

Malami and his co-defendants had pleaded not guilty to all the charges as preferred against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on behalf of the federal government.

At the Tuesday’s proceedings, Counsel to the three defendants, Joseph Daudu, SAN had argued oral bail application saying that having read the 16-counts charge and the law on the subject matter, it is a proper application to make orally adding that, the, “only condition where one needed a written application is where it is a capital offence.”

“The offences of money laundering are bailable offences. The charges are not complicated, they are bailable and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty by the court”,
he said and urged the court to admit them to bail.

EFCC counsel, Ekele Iheanacho SAN had vehemently opposed the oral application for the bail of the defendants, saying that Section 162 of Administration of Criminal Just Act ACJA listed factors to consider before exercising discretion on bail application.

“Those factors can only come into the court through affidavit evidence and to determine whether to grant bail or not, both the prosecution and the defense would be given the opportunity to state their facts and these facts belong to the witnesses,”
 he said.

Justice Nwite had in a ruling rejected the oral bail application and ordered both parties to appear before him today to argue written bail application.

The EFCC had arraigned the former AGF and the two others before the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on a 16-count money laundering charge.

Tax Law Rollout: Why Nigerians Should Exercise Caution – Budget Office

The Budget Office of the Federation has warned Nigerians against relying on unverified claims and speculation about the country’s newly enacted tax laws as their implementation begins on Thursday, January 1, 2026.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Director-General of the Budget Office, Tanimu Yakubu, affirmed the integrity of the tax reforms.

He warned that the spread of unsubstantiated information could undermine democratic governance.

The Budget Office stressed that careless amplification of claims from uncertain sources poses a risk to public trust.

“A nation cannot be governed by insinuation or sustained on circulating documents of uncertain origin,”
the statement said, noting that public confidence, once eroded by speculation, is often difficult to rebuild.

According to the statement, authorities remain committed to transparency and accountability.

The Office stressed that governance and reform should not be stalled by unresolved conjecture.

The warning comes amid growing calls by the Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives, former Senate Leader Ali Ndume, the Nigeria Labour Congress, and other groups for the suspension of the tax laws scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2026.

Despite the opposition, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has maintained that the new tax laws will be implemented as planned on January 1, 2026.
