Foluke Daramola-Salak, the Nollywood actress, has spoken up on why she endured her abusive marriage.
According to the mother of two, she remained in her first marriage for four years despite being constantly abused by her ex-husband because she was scared of criticism.
The thespian revealed this in a recent interview with TVC.
She said she was abused on the night of her wedding.
She said, “My first marriage, on the night of my wedding was when I noticed abuse. But because of what people will say… And God has already orchestrated it because my wonderful kids are from the marriage.
“When I finally decided to step out [of the marriage], people did not understand why I stepped out. But I understood that I needed to go. A lot of people did not receive it well, but if I hadn’t stepped out, if I had died there, by now I would have been a forgotten case.
“So, it is better for people not to accept my reality or my truth but I accept my own truth than for me to lose my life in the process of trying to prove to the world what I’m going through.”

The ‘Assurance’ crooner said he was elated that fans finally accepted his album at the fourth time of asking.
He said, “This is me telling myself the truth; this album was either going to make me or break me. People don’t want to say it to me in my face. But everybody knows the truth about the situation that is happening in their life whether they want to lie to them or not.
“There were situations when I was recording this album I was like ‘mehn! I’m going to go like this, I’m going to go like this?’
“So, when I slept and I woke up, my phone was not with me, so I was going crazy. I sent everybody away an hour before the album came out, I did my prayers, I laid down on my bed and slept. I now over slept.
“I wanted to just sleep for like one hour thirty minutes so that we will celebrate. I now over slept. Woke up by 3am. I said ‘Ye!’. I was looking for my phone because I have a big suite. I went to the living room, but there wasn’t anybody in my room celebrating. I was scared like ‘wettin dey happen na?’.
“So, I ran downstairs and I banged my assistant’s door ‘what’s going on, what’s going on?’. He said ‘Oga, take your phone, congratulations’.”
