Grammy-nominated singer Ayra Starr has clarified that she purposefully chose to stay single while attending school in order to preserve her reputation.
The 23-year-old Mavin Records musician claimed that she stayed away from dating because she didn’t want anyone to call her an ex-girlfriend after she became well-known.
The singer said in a recent interview with Quenlin Blackwell that she was constantly conscious of herself and wary of people’s intentions when they approached her.
Because I didn’t want to be someone’s ex, I didn’t date in high school. She remarked, “I knew a lot of guys were trying, and I was like, why are you trying? That means you must have an ulterior motive.”
The singer also discussed her current ideals for a mate, stressing that knowledge is more important to her than physical attractiveness.
