Why Peter Obi Thought PEPC Would Declare Him Winner – Yunusa Tanko

Dr. Tanko Yunusa, the national spokesman of the the Peter Obi/Labour Party (LP), 2023 Presidential Campaign Committee has opened up on why Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election had high hope of winning his case at his Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT).
Recall that before the Tribunal verdict, Obi, on various occasions had expressed his confidence that he would be declared the winner of the presidential election.
However, the reverse was the case when the PEPT judges upheld the victory of President Bola Tinubu.
Explaining why Obi was confident he would be declared winner, Yunusa said it was because of his faith in the PEPC and the judiciary.
He stated that many Nigerians had hoped that the judiciary would be bold enough to upturn the election result because of the glaring evidence.
According to him, “Many Nigerians expected that the judiciary would be courageous enough to upturn the election considering the humongous evidence that were presented before the court. Our principal, Peter Obi had so much faith in the PEPC and the judiciary, and so also did we in the labour Party but when we see them skin off basic fundamental truths, it is important for the people to air their views on the matter.

“There are different views and opinions on the judgement of the PEPC but the most important thing is that the verdict of the Justices is a classical rape on Nigeria’s democracy and that did not go down well on many Nigerians.”

Why I Stopped Shooting Music Videos For Asake – TG Omori Speaks

ThankGod Omori Smith, the famous Nigerian music director and cinematographer, better known as TG Omori or Boy Director has finally disclosed why he stopped shooting for singer, Asake.

Recall that Omori and Asake’s cooperation began with the smash track “Organize” in 2022.

However, rumors arose when Asake used another director for his most recent music videos.

It was reported that Asake was upset with TG since their last effort, “YOGA,” did not receive as much attention as his past videos.

Speaking on his business deal with Asake, TG in an interview on Zero condition podcast, emphasized that Olamide, the musician and CEO of YBNL record label, believes in giving people opportunities, and it would be unjust to hold that against him.

“Even husband and wife dey divorce, people do have a break. I think we have done enough, we have done like 12 videos. We are still very cool. You know it is a business and at the end of the day, you have to respect your client’s decisions.

“I like when artistes have the freedom to try out new things. I don’t want because we are guys you must shoot with me. I don’t know why that happened.

“To me it is crazy love because me and YBNL are forever. And you know how me and Olamide ‘go like way back’, and Olamide is a type that makes sure that everybody eats. And before I came, he was working with other directors and he gave me the opportunity to also do my thing.

“So he’s working with a very creative guy now. A very good guy that’s doing well too. That’s Olamide for you. And if I take that personal, then I have messed up.”

Tribunal Sacks Popular Kano Lawmaker Over Certificate Forgery

Idris Dankawu, the lawmaker representing the Kumbotso Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives has been sacked.
Idris Dankawu was sacked by the National and State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Kano State on Monday.
The tribunal, on Monday, affirmed that Dankawu, who is the candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), forged his West African School Certificate (WASCE) which he submitted to contest the election.
The All Progressives Congress candidate, Munir Danagudi, who filed the petition against the NNPP candidate, prayed the court to declare that Dankawu forged his Secondary School Certificate to secure admission into Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Kaduna.
In his judgment, Justice I.P Chima held that Dankawu of NNPP forged his WAEC certificate and accordingly voided the election.
The tribunal ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to withdraw the Certificate of Return presented to Dankawu and declare Danagudi the authentic winner of the Kumbotso Federal Constituency election held on 25th February 25, 2023.
“Having satisfied with the provision of the law, we hereby declare and return Munir Babba Danagudi as the winner of the Kumbotso Federal House Representatives election. All parties to bear own cost,” the judge ruled.

Don’t Waste Your Time, Money Going To Supreme Court – APC Chieftain Tells Atiku, Obi

Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar have been urged not to approach the Supreme Court to contest the judgement of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT).
The call was made by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kailani Muhammad.
The APC chieftain said it would be a waste of time and resources if Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, and Atiku of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), approached the apex court for redress.
Addressing a press conference in Kaduna on Sunday, Muhammad said the ruling of the apex court would not be anything different from that of the tribunal, adding that the judges did a thorough job by addressing the issues raised one after the other.
He described the judgement delivered by the tribunal judges, which affirmed the victory of President Bola Tinubu, as a win for democracy, the rule of law and the affirmation of the people’s mandate.
Muhammad, therefore, urged Atiku and Obi to join hands with Tinubu to build a virile country that generations yet unborn will benefit from, adding that the president has done well in actualising what his predecessors couldn’t do.
He also called on Nigerians to give the president maximum support to reposition the country, saying that “Nigeria will be a Haven under Tinubu.”
Kailani, however, said Nigerians are passing through difficult times presently as a result of the subsidy removal and called on Tinubu to speed up the palliatives and other measures that will cushion the effects.

Players And Supporters Attack Referee Over ‘Poor Officiating’ in Ebonyi Governor’s Cup

A referee has been given a thorough beating by players and supporters of an Ishielu Local Government Area team over poor officiating.
The players and supporters reportedly attacked the referee at the end of the Ebonyi State governor, Francis Nwifuru’s cup final match on Sunday evening, September 10.
It was gathered that the referee was chased all over the stadium as he ran for his life over alleged poor officiating in the match.
Normalcy was restored after the governor intervened in rescuing the referee from the angry supporters who overpowered the security men trying to protect him.
During the prize presentation ceremony, Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi condemned the attack, describing the act as ‘shameful and embarrassing’.
“I did not expect the players to behave unprofessionally.

“Anyone not happy with a referee’s decision should not get to him but complain to the relevant officials.

“The person will still get a response and I am sure with what the sports commissioner told me, we will not have a repeat of this kind of violence,” he said.
The governor also announced that match officials for subsequent competitions will come from other states to avoid similar attacks.
“The match officials would not be known to anyone or any team.

“The sports commissioner has, however, shown his strength in organising such a competition and we would continue providing opportunities to empower and unite our youths,” he said.
Ebonyi LGA won the trophy by beating Ishielu 2-1 while Ohaozara LGA came third by defeating Izzi 1-0 in the third-place match.
