You Don’t Have The Power To Ask Anyanwu To Resign – Wike Slams PDP BoT

FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has taken a swipe at the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for calling for the resignation of the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

Recall that Anyanwu emerged as the PDP governorship candidate for the November 11 election in Imo state.

After he was elected the PDP candidate in April, some members of the party called for the resignation of Anyanwu as the national secretary.

But in a statement on Friday, the national leadership of PDP said Anyanwu remains the party’s national secretary and governorship candidate in Imo.

However, in a letter dated October 12, addressed to the acting PDP National Chairman, Iliya Damagun, the BoT said it is against the provisions of the party’s constitution for Anyanwu to occupy two positions.

Reacting to the development in a letter to the BoT acting Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, Wike said the party organ does not have the authority to declare who can occupy the office of the national secretary.

He said the BoT was unable to intervene in the crises that engulfed the party in the run-up to the 2023 General Elections when some chieftains of the party blatantly violated the Constitution of the Party.

Wike also expressed dismay that the former senate president referred to Emeka Ihedioha as “former governor of Imo state” in his letter to the PDP acting Chairman.

“Your Excellency, permit me to observe with respect that the Board of Trustees (BOT) lack the moral authority to intervene on the issue of who occupies or should occupy the Office of the National Secretary of the Party,” Wike wrote in his response to Wabara seen by TheCable.

“This is more so as the BOT was unable to use its good offices as the conscience of the Party to intervene in the crises that engulfed the Party in the run-up to the 2023 General Elections when Officers of the party blatantly violated the Constitution of the Party.

“Secondly, the Ag. Chairman of the BOT is reminded that the issue of who occupies the position of National Secretary of the Party is beyond the BOT’s sphere of authority and influence.

“Indeed, if and when a vacancy occurs, the responsibility of deciding who and how the vacancy will be filled is that of the entire Southern States to which the position was zoned and not only the South East geopolitical, as your letter under reference appears to be suggesting.”

Wike said it was wrong for the BoT to refer to Ihedioha as the former governor of Imo state because the Supreme Court had nullified his election.

He added: “By the Supreme Court’s pronouncement, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, was never elected Governor of Imo State and ought not to have been so copied.

“To do otherwise will amount to dressing him in borrowed robes, which will not do him and the Party any good.”

BBNaija: Nigerians Didn’t Support Me Because I’ve Won Before – Mercy Eke Cries, Says It’s Wickedness

Big Brother Naija star, Mercy Eke has made a claim against Nigerians.
According to her, Nigerians refused to support her because she had won the reality show before.
Mercy said that apart from her fans, majority of the viewers did not support her in the just concluded All-Stars edition of the reality show because of sentiment.
She said most people refused to support her because she won the ‘Pepper Dem’ edition in 2019.
Speaking in a recent interview with Hero Daniels, Mercy broke down in tears, lamenting that her only “crime” was wanting “more”.
She said, “This last season of Big Brother, at a point, I started questioning myself like I feel like I’m too ambitious. Is it a good thing for a woman to want more? Because people almost made me feel like I’m too greedy. And most times when I talk to Biggie that’s what I ask him.

“In my head, I started questioning myself: Do I want too much? Should I have not looked for this? Okay fine, I’m not hungry but if I want this green, can I not want this pink? And is there a problem if I want white? It made me start questioning myself too much. Wetin I even get? I don’t even have anything but people made it like let others be there.

“I didn’t have any support apart from my fans. It’s still in my head and I’m not lying because it’s just pure hatred and wickedness what I went through. And I thank God that I went back to the show because I didn’t know that that is how people saw me. They almost made me feel like I’m wanting too much even though I don’t have it like that.

“I just respect myself. Package myself. Even when I don’t eat, nobody is going to know. What people showed me, is just pure wickedness for nothing. Just for trying to be more. For trying to work harder. It was not easy to accept to go back into the House. Remember we had another winner in the House. But the energy they gave me both inside and outside the House, oh God! I said they would not see my tears. They will keep seeing me shine. That’s what I said to myself.

“But that is pure wickedness because I checked myself, what did I do wrong? I did not do anything wrong. I did not commit any crime. The only crime I committed was wanting more.”

Why Tinubu Renamed Ministry of Information, Culture — Minister

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris has given reasons why President Bola Tinubu renamed the Ministry of Information and Culture to the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
According to him, the reason was to facilitate the reorientation of Nigerians to recover their sense as a nation.

This, he said was a mandate given to him by the president.
He added that Tinubu also mandated him to promote patriotism, honesty, and transparency as the core values of the administration.
He disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.
He said, “President Bola Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ is to take Nigeria to an enviable height among the committee of nations and change the negative narrative about the country.

“He charged me with the responsibility to ensure that Nigerians are reoriented within the few years that we are here, so that, at least, we can recover our sense as a nation and begin to go in the right direction.

“It is a great challenge. You know that moral decadence is not among the youths only but among the entire social strata of the country.

“I think that is why the president renamed the Ministry of Information and Culture to the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

“It means the president wants to put the issues of orientation and reorientation on the front burner,” Idris said.

He added that the virtues of patriotism, honesty, and transparency were some of the things that Tinubu is vigorously promoting.

“He has given us a marching order to see that those values are promoted and put on the front burner and disseminated to the majority of Nigerians for the good of all”
